When a participant on Jeremy Kyle show ended their life after the broadcast, the programme was halted and then axed because it had failed in its duty of care. That Ofsted has not halted inspections after Ruth Perry’s death tells us that they don’t believe they were responsible.

As someone who suffered from depression and anxiety from the age of 14, often triggered by the pressure of exams, I find it astonishing that Ofsted is identifying children having ‘fun’ as negative. Learning and fun are not mutually exclusive. I wish my learning had been fun.

Ofsted: Inspections are based on fear. We don’t perform well if we’re afraid. The pre-frontal cortex (thinking) shuts down and we go into fight or flight mode. Headteachers are fearful because their survival and the survival of their staff and school depends on succeeding.

Teachers: I don’t know who decided to use the term ‘cold calling’ for asking questions of pupils with hands down, but as every adult hates being phoned by an uninvited sales pitch, I think it was an unfortunate choice.

@streetskitchen @CamdenCouncil 1) This is the result of Braverman’s vile ‘It’s a lifestyle choice’. 2) Camden Council should be ashamed that this is happening. 3) If the refuse collectors were instructed to do this, they should have sought union backing to disobey the instruction.

@JohndickensSW @f33lthesun I hope that a well-known headteacher will now retract her remarks about a child identifying as a cat and apologise. After all, she 100% stands by Ofsted judgements.

Ofsted: Given the crisis in retention, the worst I have seen in my lifetime, I would like to see a ‘deep dive’ to reveal the state of staff mental wellbeing, its causes and proposals to tackle the problem. Recruiting more staff is like filling a barrel with holes with water.
