Obama bombed Yemen. Trump bombed Yemen. Biden is now bombing Yemen. All three are war criminals who break their own laws to wage war against civilians.

Those of you contemplating voting for Elizabeth Warren, please read this. In 2015, I was living in Massachusetts & Warren was my senator. The military intervention began in Yemen, my country of birth, & was wreaking havoc on civilians. But this wasn't just Saudi's war.

When I think about Warren's response to my letter, I have to stop myself from resenting her & all those who actively supported this war. They chose party politics over human lives. They prioritized their support for Saudi allies over the Constitution they swore to uphold.

As a Yemeni, this question scares me because I know most world leaders don't care about human suffering. There is no upper limit that will move them to act. Only collective activism that threatens their power will move them to call for a ceasefire.

President Obama had bypassed Congress โ€“ an unconstitutional act โ€“ to support the Saudis in their war against #Yemen . He was providing weapons, mid-air refueling, training, target support, and anything else the Saudi-UAE coalition needed to bomb and starve Yemen.

By 2019, 85,000 children between the ages of 0-5 had starved to death. At least 90,000 Yemenis were killed. One child was dying every 10 minutes. 80% of the population was in need of humanitarian assistance. Yemen was, and still is, the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

For a while, the situation was hopeless. Trump inherited the war & continued business as usual. Then in 2017, Rep. @RoKhanna gave me & millions in Yemen hope when he passed the War Powers Act of 1973 in the House, declaring the US' role unconstitutional:

In 2017, 2 years into the Saudi/US/UAE invasion and blockade of #Yemen that left thousands dead (now hundreds of thousands) and tens of thousands starving (now millions), I wondered why Yemeni civilians were ignored by the international community. I don't wonder any more.

In the past 6 years, ZERO Saudi/UAE/US/UK civilians were killed by Yemenis. Meanwhile, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of Yemeni civilians have been killed by the coalition. MILLIONS more are currently being starved. And yet the "both sides" narrative is alive & well.

I'm sure this is a very confusing time for MbS. He's been killing tens of thousands & starving millions of Yemenis since 2015. In response, the US sold him weapons, fueled his jets midair, trained his troops, shielded him at the UN, & allowed him to investigate his own crimes.

I'm sick of media framing of #Yemen war. Saudi/UAE are not targeting "Houthis"; they're killing Yemeni civilians. Stikes are also not "retaliatory"; they've been bombing & blockading Yemen for 7 years with US/UK support. Get this right & maybe people will start caring.

For 9 years, Yemenis were bombed & blockaded by the US, UK, Saudi, & UAE for refusing to aceept a puppet government. It didn't work, and their puppet is still in Saudi. Now the US & UK are bombing Yemenis to punish them for standing up for Gaza. This, too, won't work.

Bush's war crimes are whitewashed because he read a script over sad music & poignant images. Obama's war crimes in Yemen & elsewhere are ignored because he was eloquent. Trump should note that presidents will be admired as long as they "sound presidential" while killing people.
