Hundreds of thousands have fled Sudan's capital, Khartoum, but millions remain trapped in a prison of urban warfare. Conflict between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has led to civilians fleeing to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other nearby countries

This matters because of concerns raised by #Tigray advocates & survivors re the EHRC - an Ethiopian state apointed body- carrying out the investigations as part of a joint mechanism with the UN. Now more than ever they want US support for internationally-led investigations.

Ethiopian soldiers cheering and laughing as they execute unarmed men. We have verified new images and stills of the Mahibere Dego massacre. What is now clear is the original video was a “trophy video”, clear evidence of extent of impunity in #Tigray .

My conversation with the wonderful @eepreylove on the ways in which sexual violence is often overlooked as a weapon of ethnic cleansing & genocide - especially when victims survive to bear witness. As if that mitigates the pain to the survivors, their families and communities.
