Stark image seen today @Cornwall_CF of council wards where 32% or more of children live in poverty. So heartbreakingly widespread - including in the ward with the highest percentage of second homes. Such gross inequality.

In this country, government and the rule of law depend largely and rightly on the principle of consent. But that depends in turn on the consistency, integrity & impartiality of govt and the application of the law. That is now hugely strained. A moment of real and serious concern.

Scillonian. Took an assembly on St. Mary’s this morning, showed the pupils my crook and asked them what it was for. First answer: ‘hooking out lobster pots?’; second answer: ‘mooring a boat?’ Context, as always, is key…

Just read of another resident of Cornwall given notice to quit so her landlord can turn her home into holiday accommodation. Net result: she loses her home and potentially we lose her valuable public service from her employment. That's what an unregulated housing market does.

@thechurchmouse Worth the Telegraph bearing in mind that the back of the episcopal head we see in the picture belongs to someone once granted asylum having escaped a bloody revolution.

It was a joy to share this news this morning. Simon is a man of great faith and joy and will be a great blessing to the Cathedral and to Cornwall.

Scillonian: just a joy to confirm Joyce on St. Mary’s today, after a lovely earlier service on St. Agnes (I love going to church by boat).

I’ve just sent @Jeremy_Hunt the Interim Report of the Independent Review he asked me to chair into Christian Persecution and the FCO’s response to it. It makes for grim reading, I fear - and it’s dedicated to all who suffer for their faith in Christ.
