DO NOT TOUCH THIS CODE. It is better than every alternative you have provided in the thread.
If you touch this code just because "anti-pattern", you are fired.

@phillip_trudeau
you're joking, right?
the code is semantically and damn near syntactically identical to using else if like a normal person - just remove the extra unnecessary braces and reindent
Here's what’s gonna happen. You take the "BannerBomb" and “HackMii” installer links I sent you. You extract and copy them into the root of that old SD card you got with your DSi. Then, you put the SD in your Wii, you install the Homebrew Channel, and you don't say a damn thing.

Silent Hill 2 level editor progress demo: Here I've quickly edited the start of the game so that the 2D tree billboards are gone and replaced with 3D trees (clones of existing). Good proof-of-concept!

the people who “critically” consume media tend to be much more obsessed with maintaining that criticality than actually consuming the media they like

Masturbating with CleanCode and ModernC++ doesn't get you correctness or robustness. Code that's actually readable and maintainable does.
Simpler code does that.
As a bonus, it runs faster, so you can fuzz & integration test even more, saving even more lives and bank accounts.

@supahvee1234
Yeah. Like, in Vittorio's line of work a glitch means someone lost a 20M€ transaction. In mine it means the bank vault gets opened when it shouldn't have. In their line of work a glitch means a child has a tantrum about losing 10k fake points.
This week, I will return to streaming more Silent Hill 2 level editor work. Plans for other game projects are still on hold for the time being. Thanks!
Hi, I'm safe. I talked to some friends and I'm a little better.
Thanks to the people who reached out, I can't express how grateful I am for that 🥲
I'm sorry for scaring and worrying people, I know it was hurtful 😞 I have no intention of doing that again!
Hot counter-take: if you spend an overwhelming majority of your programming time on highly deliberative rational thought like this, you’re probably an unproductive programmer who could gain from being more intuitive.
I'll double down:
If you find yourself more productive while listening to music, it's because you're not engaged enough with the work you have to do.
If you were fully engaged, you'd find the music quite distracting.
SH2 level editor: OBJ importing works. Here's a light bulb that the SH2EE team modelled to fill in a lamp... now floating above the observation deck :)
"With ChatGPT you can swiftly generate essays and teachers can't tell!"
If a student's work is indistinguishable from the regurgitations of a midwit robot, then what was the endless busywork and brutal demolition of young people's spirits for 60 years even meant to accomplish?
“Man why is it so hard for developers to get multithreading right in their games?”
Because real parallel multithreading is hard. Ask any prolific programmer in game dev.
Man why is it so hard for developers to get multithreading right in their games? We are in an era where even entry level CPUs ship with at least 6C/12T, with higher-end mainstream CPUs shipping with up to 16-24C/32T.
Every laptop I've used for several years, the screen gets scratched by the keyboard (this one is absurdly scuffed after just 6 months), because they just can't bear to have a millimeter of space in there. (Insult to the injury of the keyboard being awful just so it's flat).
@DominicTarason
Disagree! I suspect its sales curve is not going to look at all like the sales curve of an average Steam game. Because it's a cultural mainstay with a dedicated following that's two decades in the making 😤 But I could be wrong!

Multiple people have separately recommended I stop using twitter, so I will be gone for a while! If you need to contact me, my Discord is in my bio. I will check DMs here, but only rarely, because I am blocking twitter on both PC and phone. Wish me luck and thanks all again🙏❤
It's been exactly a week and I wish I could say things are much better but honestly they aren't! That's my fault, of course. Sorry!
Spending some time away/readjusting felt very strange. I no longer want to do anything, make anything, or be anything. I have lost it! It is gone!

@phillip_trudeau
yes the old code does make breakpoints easier, but it's not hard to debug this. Just temporarily modify the "C" line to achieve the same thing. The refactor helps code clarity which is just as valuable to the debugging process. I would hire them.
@phillip_trudeau
@thepanta82
even if you're using a debugger that can't do this in the "proper manner" you can just do a conditional breakpoint instead

Yes, I love to see it!! 🥰 I wouldn’t proactively edit the original into this one if it’s already been checked in, but your solution is exactly what I wrote in my head ☺️
Game development is the least rewarding thing you can possibly do. Your game will not be appreciated for what it is, even by your peers. If your approach is heterodox, people will actively work against you. And socially, you'll get blank stares. Just do not do it.
@52PatrickWillis
@danghentschel
There is an idea of a Dan Hentschel, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real him. Only an entity, something illusory. And though you can shake his hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe even sense your lifestyles are probably comparable: he simply is not there.
10x has been the lowest-friction dev experience I've had in my life so far. Easiest software purchase I ever made.
I grew up on Windows with CodeBlocks, Visual Studio, then 4coder. If you did too, then you should absolutely try this product out!! 🤩
I don't know about anyone else, but when I switch to 10x, I subconsciously relax and start typing faster.
There's no obvious reason for this, but I think it's something to do with the feeling that the software "is on my side" and isn't going to interrupt me by stalling.
