Trying to get my 97-year-old great aunt who lives in Tuskegee the vaccine. She’s a retired nurse and wants it. But. They aren’t giving vaccine out in Tuskegee apparently. Has to travel to Montgomery or Auburn. Difficult because she’s in wheelchair. Told no vaccines IN TUSKEGEE.
“The study found that many more Black women were called in for interviews when all personally identifying information was withheld during the application screening process — so recruiters did not know a candidate’s name, race and gender.”
Qualified Black women were 58% less likely to be hired for a job in city, county or state government than qualified white men, according to a new study. Overall, qualified women were 27% less likely to be hired than qualified men.

walked on the stage to 2Pac’s “California” at her book event in DC and was greeted with skee-wees when she mentioned pledging AKA at HU (YOU KNOW).
Joe Biden may have said “systemic racism” more in the last months than Obama said in his entire 8 years. It’s the post-George Floyd reality, the power of BLM, the diversity of the country/Democrats and maybe most of all, the freedom that comes w/ being a white man.
“Whenever I see [the gowns], I think about the glamour, the TV appearances, the performances and the love. I also think about three girls from the projects who dared to dream.”
The phrase “legal vote” is doing lots of work for Trump and his allies. It’s meant to imply that they are on the side of the law and that there is widespread voter fraud and that there are people involved in a vast plot to cast and count “illegal votes”. ZERO evidence of this.
If Wednesday’s mob was a mob of primarily black men, instead of a mob of primarily white men, there would be all sorts of talk about black culture, and black criminality and inner cities, and hip hop music and absent black fathers, and where is Obama and other “black leaders”...
“While we are in this deeply reflective moment in this country, let’s remember that Black girls deserve to live in a world where they can dream with unlimited options and stand in the fullness of who they are so their voices can be seen, heard and valued.”

Shoutout to daycare workers, sitters, nannies who are helping take care of our kids. They are a blessing. They have given haircare tips for my child, offered coat when my kid’s zipper was broken, helped me be a good mom.I couldn’t function w/out them. And neither could the country.
“It’s easier..to blame teachers unions for closing schools than it is to talk about inequality. Conservatives have been attacking unions for decades, and so have education-reform-minded liberals..Public school districts often struggle for adequate funding”
“...the mistake, the original sin for many in Washington, was in pretending that the Campaign Trump of 2016 was not the true Trump, when in reality they knew there was never going to be a governing Trump, never going to be a Presidential Trump.”
Asheville, North Carolina's City Council did something dramatic this month: it unanimously approved a reparations resolution.
The aim is to address the impact of slavery and more recent discriminatory policies on the well-being of Black residents
After watching the women's NCAA basketball championship from the stands, Jill Biden says she wants Caitlin Clark and Iowa to join victorious LSU at the White House.

So many millions of Americans and people around the world feeling great hope and relief right now. Former President Trump was a menace for 4 years to so many.
"I would never shut up about things that are wrong. I preach about my people, and I preach about equality. Social injustice. Racism. Systematic voter suppression. Things that go on in our community.”
“I’m not going to in any way gloss over what we’ve seen over the past few weeks and...the past few years. But what I really aspire to do...is to be able to use my words to envision a way in which our country can still come together and can still heal”
Such a terrible loss. Bryan was a great journalist, mentor and colleague. A generous, kind friend who seemed to know everyone. To cheer me up, he once made me the best lattice crust apple pie I’ve ever tasted. We love you, Bryan. May your memory be a blessing.
We are saddened to hear the news of the passing of beloved journalism industry stalwart, educator, and former NABJ President, Bryan Monroe. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues. Find out more about his life and legacy by clicking here:
I spent the day texting and calling people in rural SC telling them to go to the fairgrounds (22 National Guard Rd) from 8-5pm if they are over 70 to get the vaccine even if they didn’t have an appointment. They didn’t know about the “secret site” Shouldn’t take that much effort.
The press needs to consider if debating with Republican elected officials over whether Trump won or lost is a useful exercise. It sounds like "no concession, continue meritless lawsuits" is now the GOP position. We should accept that and move on to covering the Biden presidency.
Important data to keep in mind based on a study of 7,305 BLM protests by

97.7% of events—no injuries were reported among participants, bystanders or police.
Former President Trump will certainly like Schoen better than Castor. Bringing energy, passion, anger, better suit, tie, shirt, if not better argument.

McConnell will refuse to call an emergency senate session and then when impeachment arrives in two weeks he’ll complain that it’s pointless because trump has left office & vote no
I just saved you two weeks of “what will Mitch do”
