@cbschicago The neighborhood reckless drivers, of which there are many, who are used to flying through stop signs daring pedestrians to cross in their way, make the calls to get these removed and lobby to prevent CDOT from installing them. The reckless driving lobby is powerful.

@WLimestall The pic with the 40mph speed limit sign knocked down is a keeper. The last time I drove DLSD I was doing 40 in the far right lane and was so much the slowest car on the road it became dangerous and had to speed up.

@streetsblogchi Accidents like this should always be initially charged as some kind of manslaughter and let investigators, DA, and courts figure out the situation. The alleged murderer's car should then be seized as a murder weapon until a judge releases it back to the owner.

Towing a car is complicated. It's much simpler for everyone to ask for a ticket which will be expensive causing them to quickly learn a lesson in property ownership.

@ABeanTweeting With no enforcement of traffic rules they become mute. The reckless driving lobby successfully thwart any installation automatic enforcement via traffic cams. We need a Mothers Against Reckless Driving to fight this battle like they did with drunk driving in the 80s.

@samwightt I had this exact situation happen on Charleston around Hoyne while on my e-bike. Large white SUV honking while tailing so close they couldn't see me with their grill so high, then zoomed around at Hoyne barely missing me. This was around when Pulaski lets school out.

One of these days I might ask Scott Waugespack to do a demo using plastic bollard bump outs as an experiment then see what my camera picks up and compare it to the 5 years of data already recorded.

@JGrantGlover I bought an electric bike to ferry my dogs to the lake and found the 606 lets you out at Cortland which is a kill zone for bikes with trailers. Had to buy a car. AFAIK there is not a single E-W protected bike line from Western to the lakefront.
