I just had a driver literally run me over. On Charleston & Leavitt. Physically I’m fine, just some scrapes. There was an amazing couple that caught the license plate and are willing to make a statement, and probably security cameras in the area. So totally fine.

Brandon Johnson just announced a policy to ban all SUVs in Chicago. Under this ban, all SUV owners would be required to surrender their vehicle to the CTA, and admit publicly how unnecessary owning an SUV is, and how stupid they are for buying one. This is inhumane.

Did a test where I went 12mph down Halsted in my Zipcar for about a mile just now. LESS THAN TWO HONKS. AND THEY PASSED ME. When I do it in a car, I’m ignored and passed. When I go 15mph on my bike, I’m screamed at, honked at, and driven off the road.

MORE CONTEXT: We were on the crosswalk for less than two minutes. We let buses through and took breaks so that traffic wasn’t backed up. I checked Google Maps and it wasn’t backed up for more than a block. I was genuinely shocked by how aggressive and murderous drivers got.
