Cars, cakes, politics. Conservative MP for Lincoln. Former Transport Minister. Constituents pls E: karl.mccartney.mp

One of the main reasons for the largest majority I have achieved after various General Elections I have stood in, in Lincoln, is because
@BorisJohnson
was our Prime Minister & Leader of
@Conservatives
& promised to deliver Brexit.
Many of my constituents want him back.
I do too.
3 questions Keir needs to answer:
1) Why did he pretend the dinner was impromptu when it was pre-planned
2) Why did he pretend he went back to work, when the evidence is clear he didn’t
3) How can the dinner with Mary Foy be work related, when he’s already admitted it wasn’t
MP’s debated covid vaccines for teens this morning and it is clear to me that the majority do not support it. Here is
@karlmccartney
reminding adults that they must first ‘do no harm’. Not sure why they need reminding mind.

I have deleted the tweet I posted of a photo I took in the Commons lobby last night, at the request of the Sergeant at Arms. I accept I broke Commons etiquette in taking the photo. I did so to expose a wrong. I have apologised. I’m happy to take it down as requested.
Was pleased to see & hear a v clear & strident performance & delivery from the PM,
#PMQs
, although
@BorisJohnson
@10DowningStreet
obviously ably assisted by probably the worst Sir Keir Starmer ‘failing to read the room’ act (and there are a lot to choose from) in recent memory.
Whatever Brexit outcome the new Prime Minister puts forward, we must have another referendum. Remain must be an option and Labour will campaign for remain.
A now ‘former colleague’, who was gifted various positions, ahead of many better, well-qualified & collegiate colleagues, dumps on all from a great height.
Once more another non-Conservative handpicked as part of Cameron's A List. Same people at CCHQ keep making same mistakes…🤔
Thankyou to every
@Conservatives
&
@HouseofCommons
colleague who helped make the case against domestic vaccine passports - along with the masses of the public, old and young, who made their voices heard, who can all share the credit for this ‘victory for common sense’.
"We shouldn't be doing things for the sake of it"
Health Secretary Sajid Javid says a scheme for vaccine passports for entry to nightclubs and large events in England will not be going ahead
#Marr
Happy 10th anniversary to the 'Group of 81' who voted along with myself, against our ‘Whip’ (& despite pressure), for an in/out EU Referendum, on this day in 2011.
Without that rebellion, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
@conservatives
@lnconservatives
Bless you all.🇬🇧 Brexit.
BREAKING: WOW!
@Keir_Starmer
@RachelReevesMP
blocks activist who exposed at least 400k fake followers they have added on to their twitter account to make them appear electable. Now we know why polls are Fake they are manipulating them! Pathetic losers!
Doug Ford connects with the nail fairly squarely… and is calmly impressive in his description of the position we are in and the common consensus re direction of travel… imho.
The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford has just blown up Justin Trudeau’s house of cards. In fact he’s just blown up the entire argument for mandates, vaccine passports and restrictions.
This isn’t what
@conservatives
believe in surely… freedom to choose, liberal and anti-‘nanny state’…
Whatever happened to the ‘laissez-faire’ attitude we held dear🤔
💉No jab -> no university = compulsory vaccination (in effect)
📈Vaccination rates for young people (>65% 1st dose) are actually pretty good by global comparison. Could it be better? It could be.
🥕 Carrot not stick, persuasion not panic 😱 = the right public health approach…
Who are the 100 Tory MPs said to be urging a ban of petrol/diesel car sales be brought forward to 2030? These ill-informed MPs do not represent the majority of their constituents & they were not elected on this dishonest pledge.
@fairfueluk
will fight this betrayal
@TomEPPayne
Exactly this.
Many of our colleagues have been pushing behind the scenes for some action on this issue for ages, & I suspect the numbers who feel the same will swell as this week progresses.
C’mon
@hmtreasury
@RishiSunak
@SteveBarclay
@Jesse_Norman
Push help to where it’s needed
Supermarkets need to hand back the £1.9bn of government support.
They don’t need it.
But I’ll tell you who does - the millions of people like small ltd company directors who so far have still received no support at all.
#ForgottenLtd
This so spot on. Should be played on a loop (
@UKParliament
annunciator would be a good start) until all have understood the simplistic, but thoughtful, explanation of the facts. No drama, just an erudite statement of where we are, how we arrived here & where we need to go. Enjoy.
“This whole Brexit shambles shows what happens when the people in charge don’t believe in what they’re supposedly trying to do”
NY Resolutions:
1) Swap SkyNews team with Australia’s
2) Start listening to real friends
3) Vote down May’s WA
#StandUp4Brexit
A vote for The Brexit Party is a vote against Brexit… ❌ voting for BXP will keep Lincoln red with a Labour MP who has blocked and rejected Brexit at every opportunity and now wants another referendum.
We won't be replacing the 35million+ internal combustion vehicles by 2030 or even 2050 according to a report, so I believe it's time to push on with synthetic fuels rather than electric vehicles.
Thankyou to Station Commander
@RAFWaddington
& all his colleagues for hosting & organising today’s visit of
@BorisJohnson
@10DowningStreet
(& many others). Quiet competence & well-resourced, various aspects all completed with complete expertise. Cpl who was my minder vhelpful too
Political differences aside, if
@Nigel_Farage
had of been a
@LibDems
he wouldn’t be ‘potentially’ in line for a Knighthood, he would have received 3 peerages by now 🙄😉
All things considered, he has enlivened, changed politics in UK & stuck to his principles far more than any LD
This is why
@BBCRadioLincs
will be treated like the rest of the BBC &
@BBCSport
by the taxpaying &
@LincolnCity_FC
supporting public who are fast losing patience with their out of touch-ness...🙄😳
Thank you for electing me as Lincoln’s Member of Parliament once again! I will always Put Lincoln First and will keep you all updated with progress on investment secured, and improvements made for our beautiful City.
Just home & feeling honoured to have been re-adopted as
@lnconservatives
Parliamentary Candidate for the next GE.
Celebrating with a regular brew & looking forward to personally thanking all our friends, supporters & well-wishers who have been so kind.
Team McC et al all vpleased
I sympathise with the
#ExcludedUK
freelancers and directors. The Chancellor should make time to meet with the group and map out a path to ensure that the currently excluded are supported moving forward.
@ExcludedUK
Miriam Cates is correct. Just because we as a nation have warehouses full of these tests, doesn’t mean we need to use them when there is no need too. Pointless. (Vested interests?)
The sooner
@DHSCgovuk

🧐Meanwhile for

Thankyou for this. My colleagues and I are steadfast in our long-held belief that normality should return to every aspect of our constituents’ lives, across the Country.
Delighted

We said goodbye to our LHGS Sophie who loved us for 13 years & made sure she protected us at every opportunity, whether in PL in Lincoln & the nasty threats of 2011/12 when McCBoys were much younger, & more recently. We loved her back & hope she’s chasing rabbits up in the sky😢
My reasoning for voting for or against certain policies have been made, we are where we are. Now a political judgement has to be made that realises harms that have been perpetrated & sets our nation on a road to recovery that is as short as possible-AQAP- & preferably sooner. 1/2
Hoping that the Budget addresses the issues that the
#ExcludedUK
and
#ForgottenLtd
have faced: here’s a clip from my appearance on Politics North this weekend.
Will also
@PLComms
@premierleague
& all those ‘celebs’ that the indefagatible
@LozzaFox
has been endeavouring to engage & tease out further virtue signalling (with little acknowledgement tbh)-will they quietly or loudly proclaim their ‘new’
@BBCNews
approved stance?🤔
#tumbleweed
Suspect
@YorkshireTea
& others who foolishly jumped on woke bandwagon on
#BLMUK
will regret their position now as even the BBC is stepping back. Believing in equality doesn't mean signing up for defunding the police, destroying capitalism & the family unit & anarchy. Wrong call.
I am so pleased I was back in
@HouseofCommons
@Conservatives
for this vote 😇
In 2016, 60% of the Lincoln Constituency and 17.4m across the UK voted for this.
Happy to oblige... shouldn’t have had to wait 3.5 yrs.
.
@andrealeadsom
, the Secretary of State for Business, recently visited Lincoln and was fascinated by the Cathedral, and was pleased to see our thriving City centre.
Vote Conservative on the 12th of December to reduce Business Rates, to help keep our City thriving. ✅
The Chancellor needs to offer the
#ExcludedUK
freelancers & directors support, especially for those who have received little support since March, to help see them through. I suggested reclaiming the £1.9B received by large supermarkets, who clearly do not need it, to fund this.
I recently questioned the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid. We need no more lockdowns or restrictions on our civil liberties: let us return to the old normal!
Second day back
@HouseofCommons
with another v early start then broke for first of many briefings & inductions + photos (NB groups🙄) with all the other new Members of Parliament in the Chamber. Later today we will all be (re) electing a popular & neutral Speaker to this Chair😉
The Government is absolving itself of responsibility expecting regular people to pay corporate interests for new electric vehicles, which are not as financially nor environmentally attractive over their ‘full life’ as ICE vehicles are, to meet their environmental targets.
Good on Sir Peter Bottomley, best sage as Father of the House
@HouseofCommons
who stood his ground with slanted
@BBCRadio4
presenter & pointed out the story wouldn’t have run without two specific facets which since have proved to be incorrect. Taught presenter a Latin lesson too.
Tomorrow is polling day! Head to your local polling station and cast your vote for me, Karl McCartney, the Conservatives and Boris Johnson to Get Brexit Done, so we can work on the People’s Priorities. ✅
The authoritarianism at work today is truly appalling. But is it necessary and proportionate to the threat from this disease?
The Government must publish their analysis
#Road2Recovery
Exactly. What will Labour do? Sack her, or let her jump?
1. Starmer doesn’t dare do first, &,
2. her sanctimonious levels of morality/self-interest (‘scum’ anyone?) will not likely lead to her own resignation
(3. Labour playbook: do nothing, wait to blow over, is not working)
Time and again Angela Rayner called on Boris Johnson to resign because he was unwittingly ambushed by a cake on his birthday, claiming if you “lie to the British public and get away with it, then frankly all bets are off for our rules and democratic process.”
First she lied over…
A vote for The Brexit Party is a vote against Brexit… voting for BXP will keep Lincoln red with a Labour MP who has blocked and rejected Brexit at every opportunity and now wants another referendum. ❌

No.10 has nothing to gain by attempting to placate its detractors.
They’ll never vote Tory anyway and will continue attempts to usher in a left-wing gov. regardless of leader.
Success lies in pursuing true blue policies and consolidating conservative (small c) support.

@BrexitStewart
Absolutely nails
@BBC
&
@bbcquestiontime
biased anti-Brexitness. Been going on for years. Same old same old but CW so deliciously & delightfully calls it out to the faces of Dimbleby & the other Panel Remainers...😱

Sainsbury’s will hand back around £440 million saved from the Government’s business rates holiday a day after Tesco said it would hand over £585 million and £274 million by Morrisons
An excellent explanation from
@tomhfh
refuting misinformation & some of the nonsense that mostly Labour stooges, Cllrs & their ilk have been promulgating over the w/e about rivers, sewage & the Govt’s Environment Bill - circulated on social media as per 🙄

@LincolnshireCC
now have to take forward & I’m sure will do
@rgdavies
V pleased to hear that the long, long Campaign led by
@EdwardLeighMP
to retain the
@rafredarrows
in the County has reached fruition with the announcement overnight that ‘The Reds’ are relocating from RAF Scampton to RAF Waddington.
Reece Wilkes, the Brexit Party Candidate for Lincoln, has decided to stop campaigning. He will still appear on the ballot paper on Thursday, but he is urging everyone to vote Conservative on the 12th of December to break the deadlock in Parliament and to Get Brexit Done ✅
Was brilliant to welcome the Prime Minister to Lincoln today - he took part in a runway meeting with military analysts at RAF Waddington and was interviewed by The Lincolnite.
Thx media, but no, not doing interviews as lots of other things in diary.
I will not be supporting the 3 or 4 SIs next week colloquially known as ‘Plan B’- same reasons as previously: not supporting draconian impositions on our hard fought freedoms & effects on nation’s economy😇
In the
@HouseofCommons
debate at the time I challenged the then Health Minister, along with virtually all
@Conservatives
MPs present, to ‘do no harm’. The only MPs supporting proposal to use the Covid vaccine on young people & children were Labour MPs. Media complicit then & now.
There are many reasons why giving babies the Covid vaccine (including those with weakened immune systems) is unethical. The Covid vaccine does not stop a person from catching the virus and there is still no long-term safety data for this controversial product.
Covid vaccinations…
It’s been a long long day and still some time to go. ‘Too close to call’ is the
@LincolnLabour
‘line’ to take so I hear...
Maybe their Candidate should have turned up to the final debate/hustings at Lincoln’s Speakers’ Corner yesterday... 🤔
#JustSaying
The vote tonight is of no benefit to the Conservative Party or the British people. It is a self-indulgent distraction the only effect of which will be to embolden a pitiful opposition.
Thx again. As a fellow parent, and following on from my PQ to the former Vaccine Minister re ‘Covid passports’, my view is that our freedoms have been hard fought for, & we need to ‘do no harm’ to young people who have suffered enough hardship already, imho.
@karlmccartney
I for one appreciate it and I’m sure many thousands of parents do also. If only more politicians favoured honour over their careers like you clearly do. Thank you.
I've already been lobbying Jake Berry at the Northern Embassy meeting for improvements to Lincoln. As well as speaking with Matt Hancock, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care about our City's and County's NHS provision. Not bad for a first week in the role! ✅
On my way home to Yorkshire, I got the opportunity to thank just a few of the amazing people who keep this country going.
We’re so grateful for all the work that you do – this Christmas and always.
Absolute scenes
@HouseofCommons
as Speaker decides to break with convention after intense pressure from HMLO/Lab Chief Whip and others. Would love to see the WhatsApp, emails & other Comms of the 8 Labour MPs overhead last night saying ‘…it’s ok, Lindsay is sorting it for us…’
Ian Blackford’s motion to delay Brexit under the guise of Coronavirus has been defeated by my colleagues and I. We have committed to leave and we are still on track to leave!
A vote for The Brexit Party is a vote against Brexit… ❌ voting for BXP will keep Lincoln red with a Labour MP who has blocked and rejected Brexit at every opportunity and now wants another referendum.
‘Funny that’ in a very unfunny serious sort of
@CommonsTrans
@transportgovuk
@HouseofCommons
sort of way. Many of my
@Conservatives
colleagues on the committee have long harboured doubts on the figures we were quoted & provided… & this firms up those doubts ahead of EV report.
Tricking Parliament, spending public funds to hide the facts, misleading a journalist who asked questions. Can the Climate Change Committee survive this?
Thankyou OG
Realised quite some time ago, & it’s been a long, lonely, winding road at times, but more & more colleagues are now aware of challenges, & privately entirely agree with our view:
‘The Emperor’s New Clothes
moment, as pointed out in ‘Fuelling the Future’ Report awaits.
“Karl’s had crazy expenses.”
Here’s a comparison of my total monthly expenses (averaged out over the seven -7- full financial years I served as your MP) vs. those expenses of Karen Lee, our current Labour MP. I am far better ‘value for money’...
Source:
Politicisation of the pandemic in the UK; by opposition politicians, our appalling 3rd rate biased + ill-informed media who confuse news with entertainment, + scientists with political affiliations, has been shocking, profoundly depressing + worsened our whole ghastly situation.
At the East Midlands Reception, Prime Minister
@BorisJohnson
shared that he is backing me for re-election in Lincoln, and mentioned Karen Lee, who sent a 'Happy Birthday' tweet to the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. 🎂
My constant promotion of Lincoln’s transport issues in questions, meetings and committees has not gone unnoticed by the executive. The Prime Minister this week specifically mentions Lincoln as part of his plan to improve transport across the country.
Anyone noticed how ‘off message’ NS is up in Scotland? It is a delightful and welcome change since the lack of imparting information to her ahead of
@10DowningStreet
announcements (due to her previous deviousness) means she has nothing to say of relevance.
Blessed relief. 🤔😇🙂
Earlier today I spoke in the
@HouseofCommons
WH debate 0930, to the Motion : …Vaccination of Children against COVID-19.
I made a ‘classical’ comment (amongst others - particularly the need to: do no harm’) that some of my colleagues were kind enough to appreciate: 😇😉
This, again, is ‘dynamite’… thoughtful and well written short essay/long comment that points out some home truths (& where do all the used windmill sails go btw…🤔😱)
Look at the comments and references.

Sensible centrist types think the world is going to fry if Britain backs away from "climate leadership" - despite there being "net zero" evidence that anyone is following Britain's lead. They're insane.
Net Zero is the product of decades of propaganda. Most people take it as…
Many thanks to the not inconsiderable numbers of colleagues who were prepared to sign my nomination for the vacancy on the 1922 Executive.
Happy to report I have been informed by the Hon. Sec.

that I have been elected unopposed. (best type of election obvs) 😉😇😎
