I can't look at his little face and imagine what he would look like anymore. I see a baby face on a toddlers body and I can't quite explain how much that breaks my heart. I'm missing out on it all, every milestone, laugh & sloppy kiss. It's like he's forever frozen in time💔😭

I walked into the hospital on top of the world, only to walk out with an empty car seat and a broken heart. The coroner ruled his death was contributed to by “Neglect” as a result of gross failings of the most basic nature. A life sentence of pain is what I have left 😔

Mother’s Day this year should look so different than it does. I should have crayon squiggles in my card, a little boy saying “mama” with his toddler arms wrapped around my neck. My heart aches for every other grieving mother, today is a profound reminder of what we don’t have💔

@Rosie4212313941 The hardest part to accept is, due to the fact I was preterm I should have been offered antibiotics IV prophylactically pre policy- they were forgotten. He was symptomatic shortly after birth, no one came when it was escalated by a midwife. He was saveable for many hours 😔

Watching my children's hearts break as a result of such careless actions of the hospital. It adds a layer of anger and frustration, their innocence has been stolen at such a young age. How do you explain to children that babies die, it's something | don't even understand myself.

This is the devastating impact the hospitals actions have had. The coroner ruled “neglect”, only the reverberations of his loss travel so much deeper. Watching our other children suffer his loss pains us to the core. The birth of a sibling should be a happy time, filled with love

There is something uniquely wrong when the order of life is interrupted. To outlive our children, to miss out on every first, it’s a type of torture that only ones who walk this path can understand. I died with Zac that day, only his heart stopped beating and mine carried on.

Group B Strep is the most common cause of neonatal infection, yet we don’t routinely screen for it. 1 baby needlessly dying a week to such an easily treatable infection.😔 @GBSSupport are doing the most to change this and make screening mandatory.

@JamesTitcombe @Tim_TaylorSmith @EmilyJBarley I went to an inquest recently where the parents had no legal representatives but the trust had a legal team and three midwives also had a separate legal team. 2 Vs 0 😥 so unfair. There should be legal support available for all families at inquests.

Wishing beautiful baby Theo a heavenly birthday. 🎁 🎈 Thinking of the wonderful @JanePlumb and family today 💙💙

Twenty eight years ago today, our second son, Theo, was born. We were filled with joy & fear - he was gorgeous and perfect, but also very early & very sick. Sadly, even though he received exemplary care, he died the next day we first heard the term 'group B Strep infection.' 1/n

@natsabin Be gentle with yourself, you don’t just grieve the loss of your baby, you grieve the future you planned out the moment you saw those two lines. Sending you the gentlest of hugs 🫂 you matter and so does your precious baby. 💗💗

“The sight of the empty cot was unbearable. His tiny newborn outfits lay in the hospital bag, never to be used. Amid the shock, all Hannah and Tim Taylor-Smith knew was that they should have been holding their baby, Zachary, in their arms” beautifully written @claudiatanner

@PaulaMc007 Hi Paula, I was wondering if it would be ok to DM you? We recently heard from the coroner that ours son’s death was contributed to by “neglect”. I also completed your training and wanted to say it deeply moved me, I’m so heartbroken to read Oliver’s story.

@Tim_TaylorSmith It’s sad that Martha’s Rule has to even be a thing, when this should be an integral part of being a professional caring for patients in the NHS.

A charity close to my heart ❤️ I’m so grateful to the them for all their support and for recommending me to their legal panel. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them and our solicitor @NicWwright

@catherineroyuk I’m fairly convinced that most practices done back then- do not correlate to modern day medicine. I’m unsure why this is causing confusion to professionals at all. They should know their local/ national guidance, not be following and copying a TV show based in the 50’s/60’s.

@PaulaMc007 This made me smile and melted my heart at the same time. My daughter has autism and is very honest, this is something I could really see her doing 💗 This is such a wonderful memory, the phraseology is what made it all the more funny. 🤣

@FionaWinserRamm @Robyn_Medhurst @Tim_TaylorSmith Don’t forget Fiona this is only happening in the “dark corners” of the NHS. Are we dealing with a Rhombicosidodecahedron by any chance? 🙈 sending my love to the family, I hope they are well supported because as we know there is no “closure” in that conclusion.

@EmilyJBarley This is absolutely disgusting! As a HCP, if I witnessed this I would be taking it to top. Why go into a caring profession, if the care only extends to those who look and sound like you, utterly disgraceful.

@tinytickers an amazing charity that needs more awareness! My lovely friend lost her boy “Harrison” to undiagnosed CHD, it’s such a heartbreaking story, he’s so very loved and missed. It’s wonderful to see the work the charity are doing around pulse oximetry!

Harrison struggled with feeding throughout his short life. Although Katie repeatedly took him to see different health professionals, his heart defect went undetected & he passed away at 32 days old. Katie has very bravely shared his story: ❤️

@EmilyMarkey Thank you for sharing our beautiful boys story. Change really needs to happen, I wish the book would end with Zac, we all know that isn’t the case though. Maternity services are failing mothers and babies all over the UK and unfortunately Zac won’t be the last.😔

@resentfulnurse @bmywns Tools require clinicians to actually use them properly and/or know how to use them. The “NEWTT2” as we heard in Zachary’s case, people were aware of it, filled them in (then did nothing) or didn’t follow them at all/ or did escalate and no one came. 😩🙈

@Tarnonthebrink @babylossmummy @philEvansMajor @Robyn_Medhurst Do you know the threshold for a “neglect” conclusion by the coroner? It has to be “basic” care, not clinical decisions but fundamental “basic care” if you think that this is ok in healthcare, you’re deluded.
