Siena’s Michael Baer lost his dad over the weekend to cancer. On Coaches vs. Cancer night, he just had the biggest game of his career: 18 points, 12 rebounds in a romp over Iona. Came in averaging 3.8 ppg. Unbelievable story and helps the Saints hold onto first in the MAAC.

Landing planes left and right here but the selection chair just confirmed to me New Mexico would have been out if it didn't win the MW. Also Q1 wins were why MSU is a 9. Also said the MW's wins mostly came in conference, thus why so many teams seeded that low.

Isaiah Stevens graduated and could have went anywhere in the country. His value on the NIL market would have pushed or maybe even exceeded two-way contract money. The fact that he stayed at CSU to win with a staff that invested in him out of HS says everything about who he is.

Last year, James Madison went 2-16 in the CAA. Mark Byington took over in the spring and three of the team’s top four scorers transferred out. Yet here the Dukes are, alone in first place in the CAA after sweeping Hofstra. One of the most impressive coaching jobs this year.

DePaul gave up 2.1 points per possession in the first half Wednesday against Texas A&M. That is worse than if DePaul had simply not put five players on the floor and let Texas A&M dunk on every possession. Very competitive indeed!

The fact that Liberty, a year after graduating its top three scorers, is very much in the mix to win an NCAA tournament game says everything about just how good Ritchie McKay and that staff is. One of the best in the country.

Will Wade’s McNeese State team will play against a school called “Mississippi University for Women” which, surprisingly, also has men! Other highlights include Champion Christian (which lost to five D1 teams by 50+ points last season) and “College of Biblical Studies”.

At the higher levels of college sports, the NCAA has two main jobs: enforce the rules and run the championships. The Oklahoma State decision proves the NCAA is incompetent at enforcing rules. And the women's NCAA tournament fiasco proves it isn't good at running championships.

Three coaches have taken Washington State to the NCAA tournament since the end of World War II: George Raveling Kelvin Sampson Tony Bennett All three went on to win NABC D1 Coach of the Year at a different school. Kyle Smith about to become the fourth to take Wazzu dancing.
