Masks stop droplets, but thatโ€™s not what infects. What infects are the smoke-like aerosols, which are breathed in. Masks block droplets which would have ended up on the floor and canโ€™t get into lungs, but THEN are in position to be aerosolized by breathing through the mask.

The people who wear masks constantly don't really puzzle me - I think they're genuinely afraid, regardless of the evidence behind their choice. It's the people who sit maskless for long periods indoors in a public place, *and then* put on the mask to leave.
