Car & (ex) cycle racer. Greyhounds; watches; rides push-bikes & a Ducati; housing. Rare spinal injury. Fundraise to help others and raise awareness of TM ⛰️🚵♿
Over £31,000 now pledged towards my effort to climb Mont Ventoux; 35 months on from full paralysis caused by transverse myelitis. My attempt halted after 2-hours because my legs literally collapsed on the bike, but I went back 4 days later and finished the journey....
Two years today that I collected this chap, for a supposed 3 month foster to keep me company through the first lockdown. Yes, it's Freddy's Gotcha Day 🎉
Gave the Giulia a wash yesterday evening. I've owned it for 5 years now (since new) and it's still stunning in so many ways. Mechanical and body fault free too 👍

He can run at 40 mph; sprint up and down stairs; leap into a car; but, after 4 years, he still can't push open an open door! He'll stand there staring at it for ages 😂
Aston Martin just sailed through the MOT - no advisories and emissions "lower than most newer cars we get in". Just goes to prove that having a V12 is the right option and much better for the environment 😁👍😂 (Right -

My 60th birthday present to myself has been completed and is ready for collection 😛. Hopefully this will be taking me on future fundraising rides for Challenge-TM but, in the meantime, I can stare at it as a thing of beauty (and a proper push-bike). More to follow next week 😁
Look who's home 😁 It appears a spinal stroke caused the paralysis. On top of my own constant exercise regime I now have to administer physiotherapy to Freddy for 6 to 8 weeks. No long walks and no stairs plus I have to accompany him everywhere to make sure he doesn't fall over!

This was going to be next week's but, because I'm waiting for a part for one I'm building, then it's my 1988 Superconfex Master with full

Garage tidy up today (which also means pump up the tyres on some of the collection). Here's a group of Italianishness spanning over 40 years. 🇮🇹

Moving the motorbikes out of the garage for a couple of hours meant a bit more space for the push-bikes to spread (so I could pump all the tyres up). One day I'm going to have a big house and they'll have their own room 😂
Picked up Annie today. 3 hours together in the car and the longest journey she's been on, but they've not had a cross-word and it looks like she's already taking over (as Freddy is not pushing her out of the way)!

This is my 1990 Master Krono, which I raced for two and a half years (in about 80 time trials) up to my 'retirement' in the middle of '93.
First night in a house must be quite daunting! Freddy has gone upstairs but Annie couldn't work it out, so she's got the living room (and three beds) to herself.
Strange day today. 14 years since I lost Su after her fighting a rare type of, (eventually very visible) cancer for 18 months. Two months now until I try to cycle, non-stop, up a mountain again to raise further awareness and funds for transverse myelitis. Painful in all respects.
When Freddy met Annie! Annie is going to be Zoe's 'new' dog when I collect her in a couple of weeks. She is running her last race at Hove this coming Tuesday

I've just stuck some tubs on sprint rims. Now if you're an old school racing cyclist you will know exactly what I'm talking about, but I suspect the new era will be split! First time I've done it for over 27 years and it was strangely enjoyable!

90 minute blast with the roof off 😁 Still looking good for over 24 years old and goes like...💨 (And before the 'clever sods' come out with their same old comments - no, it didn't break down...never has 😁😂).

Back from the body shop after a number of corrosion fixes (including new rear screen) and new, glass fibre, front wings - after the multi changed and/or resprayed originals started to blister again! 23 years old this month and still won't part with it!

Finally got the new bike at home 😁 Hand made to measure in Italy (with British titanium tubing) and built with the sole intention of using for my future Challenge-TM fund raising rides. It's stunning - with 30 hours of hand finishing on the lugs - and unique. 1/2...

Depends of course on how many fucks you are really giving to the situation in hand. Personally speaking I think s' ensures there is no misunderstanding that you are extremely pissed off with the situation (to the extent that there are multiple fucks involved). 😁

I literally only finished building this on Friday: a 1980s Super to replicate (and improve) on my very first bike Colnago purchased back in 1981...
Having time this weekend has meant that, after many months, I have been able to remove the transit padding and reassemble a 1977 Bianchi (with Campagnolo group-set) purchased from Premium Cycling in Slovenia. I wasn't even riding bikes when this was made!

day (only 4 months after delivery). Test ride aside, my first motorcycle ride since paralysis 30 months ago. Not tired and feeling ok...😳😳😳 Gulp!
I've had this car for 6 years next month. It's the first car I've had that I had paint protection film applied to. Found a chip on it today - on a headlight - but only the film is damaged. It's well worth doing and it hasn't affected the colour after that time.
@AndiNeglia
.FFS - why are they even given airtime...oh, yes I forgot, just so the BBC can have another pop at the government? 🤔🤔🤔
I was stuck in hospital in Japan 17 months ago but s**t happens and I didn't go bleating to the press about it. 😡
That c**t Corbyn will be pleading next 😡
That's it folks, off to bed. Up at 6 a.m. to drive to Sault with a view of trying my ascent of Ventoux at around 8.15. £30,900 of pledges riding on it! Watch this space! 🥺⛰️🚵♿
Met a young lady in Oct' struck badly with TM. Diagnosed in Dec'21 during her first year at uni and in hospital for 9 months. She was very low. No smile and didn't want a photo taken. I'm paying for her therapy. Received a photo today of her smiling and looking so much better 👍
15 years today since my late partner, Su, passed away after an horrendous 18 month battle against cancer. Just before she died she put a collage of photographs together - which still sits on my living room wall - and here's one of her (and the back of my head) in good times 😥
But I did keep most of the Corgi and Dinky cars in their original boxes. 😂 They certainly have not been forgotten and I couldn't sell them. Keep promising when I sell the business that I'm going to buy a bigger house and everything will be on display!
@DiecastAddicts
I'm afraid it wasn't to be folks. My body literally gave up on me with just under 6km to go to the top (just after Chalet Reynard) despite, up to that point, feeling pretty good. I'm gutted 😭 I had to be caught; held up; couldn't dismount or even stand. We literally stood...
One year and one week since full paralysis I've just managed to increase my average speed on a push bike to 14.5 mph (over 18 miles) from a previous best of 13.9. Now, I know I'm not Thomas de Gendt - and I still can barely feel my legs - but it's made me a bit happier! 😁
My job can be very satisfying. Four bungalows have just been finished in the village of Walberton in West Sussex. I secured planning as part of an 'exception scheme' for affordable homes and these have sold for £240,000 against market values of £320,000 - all to local people 👍
Big 60 this year but many plans are already scuppered by my postponed knee surgery. One thing that won't be changing though is my new, made to measure, hand-built Italian push-bike, specifically for my Challenge-TM plans in 2024 and beyond. It's on it's way😁 ♿🚵♂️⛰️

Well, I managed to get to the top of Bwlch Mountain (from Port Talbot). It was hot, very painful (TM reasons) and the last couple of miles were bloody hard work as I had no gears left! Welsh drivers are far more courteous than round my way too! 👍
Off to hospital to finally get my cataract done. Big boy billy bollocks ahead of us in his BMW M2 lost it on a roundabout. I mean it's only p*****g with rain (I predicted it as he overtook us). Asked Zoe to back right off in case he trashes it. Can't miss the operation. 😂
I climbed Ventoux again! A much harder climb (from Malaucene) and with a few, intentional, very short stops to reset my brain/legs. Just to see if I could...♿🚵⛰️
Just given the 159 a quick wash. Still looking great at 15 years old (and 136,000 miles). That design just hasn't dated. An absolutely brilliant car.
#AlfaRomeo
Off to see this girl on Sunday. She's got her last race tomorrow and may be the perfect adoption for Zoe after losing Molly recently. Big enough to stand up to Freddy too 😁
Switched Freddy's evening meal to raw food last night. Big mistake! Poor sod has barely moved in 12 hours; screams of pain last night; little sleep and literally unable/unwilling to walk. He's comfortable now but still upstairs (although fortunately no accidents).
An evening of firsts: first time on my C64 (bought 3 years ago!); first time on carbon wheels; first time on EPS; new shoes...and 5 minutes quicker on my 4 laps of home (17 miles). Fastest speed since TM hit. Amazing!
#Colnago
Just mailed my local Triumph dealer to see if they can help me sell my Daytona. Last chance for anybody on here who may be interested! I really don't want it to go, but I simply cannot ride it because of the TM and the seating position. 😭

13 years today since my partner died. She wanted her ashes with me but her kids fought against it, so they now reside in Amberley cemetery (a judge ruled with my suggestion of halfway between us) where it appears they have never visited (and the Council let the grass grow) 🤔
This chap sits on my local filling station forecourt fairly regularly. I saw two girls walk within two feet of him this evening and he didn't flinch. Apparently he's there for one reason...customers feed him!🫣
Our first good deed of 2023! Long walk with hounds and this ditch was well and truly blocked by debris, so we cleared a channel to get it running again 😁
13 wks since the left knee was replaced and I ventured out on a bike for the first time today. Stopped here to decide whether to do another 30 minute loop or just ride back, as the pain from the TM was so intense 😭 Knee still not flexible enough to work without lifting my heel.
We put all three dogs outside at 5:30 to have their dinner and then some **** let off one single firework. Annie carried on eating, Freddy stopped and Mazzie was terrified. Took half an hour to stop shaking 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Four and a half years ago I was fully paralysed. I learned to walk again, ride a pushbike, a motorcycle and yesterday drove a car on a race track; all despite continual pain and discomfort and against all the odds. Why do I still feel that many people just don't believe it? 🤔
