Omg it’s my evil ass boss from the F!nnish B!stro who claimed we quit and refused hours during the pandemic to try to have our unemployment taken away (we won). She would threaten to fire people regularly to keep them in fear. Fuck you, Sandra, and don’t you live in Roseville?
A person’s disability doesn’t supersede someone’s right to a living wage. One’s reliance on the exploited labor of others doesn’t justify exploitation. Put more pressure on your city for ETHICAL solutions, like better public transit and programs.
UMN students set up a protest encampment this morning and were arrested two hours later. Police then threw away their private property while they were in jail for protesting. Fucking disgusting and this is not going to go the way the U wants.
The thing I hate most about Minneapolis is that it has sooo much potential that is just squandered away by horrible leadership, and a lot of people here have some sort of Stockholm Syndrome where they feel the need to defend it
I asked this last year, but I’m going to do it again because springtime!
What are your favorite Minneapolis hidden gems? Whether it be a restaurant, park, store, bridge, place, WHATEVER.
Living in Iowa, I was regularly called a “libt*rd” (insulting on many levels) and made fun of for being a feminist
Living in Minneapolis, I feel like I’m around my ppl and the boys wear nail polish and all my homies hate cops
plotlines about shallow, uptight big city people coming to a small town and discovering community, human kindness etc drive me insane because – as someone who grew up in a small town, population 2,500 – it works the complete opposite way. big city culture is the humanizing one
This is the first job I had “post” (but not really ofc) COVID and it got hit by a fucking bus…stuff like this only happens to me.
Anyway, the owner took out a loan to pay us while we looked for new jobs. So go support the new Acadia because he’s not a POS!
@TuesdayModel
@MariahGraceArtt
Ugh this is where I’m at. I got like a 3.9 gpa without trying in HS. But college was really difficult for me/my mental health/etc for some reason. I’m thinking about going back but I’m not sure. I hate being a smart person and having people think I’m dumb because no degree.

NOW: 50+ reps of local business groups and the disability community standing behind
@MayorFrey
to call on the City Council to amend Minneapolis' rideshare ordinance
CM
@Andrea4Ward8
, who voted to enact the ordinance, but has since called a vote to revisit it, is here
Pizza L*ce is so bad. I was ravenously hungry last night after work and it was one of the only things still open, so I ordered. Now I’m gonna be eating bad pizza for my entire weekend 😭 I don’t get the hype. The employees are always nice tho.
You know what’s more dangerous than teenagers driving? Old people who need their licenses taken away. I have died on this hill my entire life. Old people are some of the most dangerous people on the road.
@hnjohnso
And before people say it’s not fair to blame the poor grandma, we had to basically steal my grandma’s car because she refused to stop driving after causing multiple accidents and being nearly blind. She simply didn’t give a shit if she killed people, she wanted to drive to lunch.
It’s kind of sad that we’re in the heartland, surrounded by farms, and our city isn’t bursting with farmers markets, fresh produce, and grocery stores or meat shops with good, local meat
@hilaryrfoster
@sarah_sirrah
@ivadixit
I wrote this when I was half asleep and was going to respond to you in the morning, but wow this blew up! I love learning the etymology of potluck and all the different terms in other places. I want to go to a sticky tea!!!
Apparently wondering how a DV victim and her children are doing, or if they’re still alive, is offensive to bootlicking conservatives. Fuck right off with that bullshit. You weirdos always claim to be obsessed with protecting kids, but you don’t actually care
@StefanGBucher
@bbaker315
@Maladroithe
It’s not humanizing though, because he’s clearly a narcissist who just constantly needs to be in a relationship because he hates being alone. He’s been quoted saying that kind of stuff
Uptown
@Target
now locks up baby products. Ignoring how horribly unethical that is, it’s funny that they expect people to wait 15 minutes for an employee to make it over there to unlock it. Losing sales to own the poors I guess 🫡
why are you, as a cook, still paying $8-$9 dollars for a small jar of McCormick seasoning
go buy a small jar for $0.50 and fill it with the $1.50 El Guapo spices babyyyy
3 years sober…it’s been a helluva ride. First soberversary without Darwin, who I got sober for more than even myself. My sheer willpower & stubbornness has gotten me so far, and I couldn’t have done it without
@frozenagitation
. Here’s to the next 3 years of sobriety!
I remember thinking as a literal child that it was kind of janky and weird that we had to bring in lunch money to pay for the like $2 lunch, and I probably didn’t know it was “classism” but I knew that meant kids went without and that was unsettling to me
I really hope Minneapolis will use this opportunity to strengthen our public transit system! More regular (and on-time) buses + later bus run times would make it so nobody even needs a shitty tech company that underpays their drivers
Went to St Paul and it’s so fucking weird. Not only is most stuff closed on Wednesday, we couldn’t get service at numerous points during our trip. I’m not fully convinced that people actually live there.
Ok I’m like 10 years late but I’m gonna try to get into podcasts. I don’t want true crime; I like educational stuff and certain random topics like weather & tornadoes (open to other random topics). What are your recs?
5 years ago today, I left my dogs and 90% of my belongings behind to go to California so I could leave my abusive boyfriend of over 5 years. I was trauma-bonded to him, mostly financially reliant on him, and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. It was also one of the best.
I *used* to love Nightingale because it’s an industry spot w good food, but nah, fuck them. You really think your customer base is people from the burbs? Touch grass.
Nightingale restaurant going on the attack against the "(national) anti-car lobby." Predicts they will certainly close if parking is removed when Lyndale is reconstructed in a few years.

To each their own, but AA didn’t help me get sober. The support of my women’s harm reduction group did, though. I don’t talk about it as much as I should but harm reduction saves lives
My brother is now offering to *loan* me money so I can go to his “once-in-a-lifetime” event, his engagement party. Why are rich people so stingy? I know broke folks who would give me their last $5. I don’t have PTO because I used it on my dog having cancer, like damn.
Jason DeRusha thinks that it’s 2009 and you can still play the middle ground of politics apparently. The most insufferable group of men with opinions are always the men who act like they’re just so logical and full of reason, they’re not like other voters.
Having two degrees doesn’t make you more qualified to work at a coffee shop. Having service industry experience or a desire to work in the service industry does. Tired of people who have never worked in restaurants, etc assuming they deserve jobs over people w relevant experience
Today this girl is out handing out her resume in NY. She has two degrees in communications and acting.
She’s applying for minimum wage jobs and is having a hard time getting one. Says she honestly just wants to live off tik tok.
My 3 year soberversary is on Friday and we rented a car for several hours. Normally we do stuff like Can Can Wonderland, go out to eat, museums, etc. I’m at a loss for what to do this year and y’all know the area better than car-less transplant me…so, taking any ideas!
It’s been 6 months without him. I’ve been feeling a little better lately, but damn does this milestone suck. He was my favorite thing in the world and I thought I’d have 4 more years with him. I miss you, I love you ❤️
When people sit around and tweet about how organizers are doing it wrong: what are you doing? The U of M organizers accepted a deal with the administration rather than get no deal and get arrested. They can always bring the encampment back if they need to.
I’m sorry, this guy is trying to be wholesome, but he can’t believe that someone could be poor and working at a grocery store, while also being smart and handsome? “Something didn’t add up” as in this guy didn’t seem like your regular poor grocery bagger? Okay then
Great story tonight.
There’s been this guy who works at our local coop bagging groceries.
He’s handsome, put together and always seemed intelligent when we made small talk.
Looked around my age (45).
Something didn’t add up.
I ran into him tonight at our block party.
Turns
A rainy day is perfect for some good coffee. If you’re looking for a unique cup of joe — look no further than SK Coffee on Lyndale Ave. Despite only being open two months, they’re already making a big impact on our community.
Here’s a photo from our first Valentine’s Day together, a month before the pandemic caused us to move in together after 4 months of dating. This will be our 5th Valentine’s Day together, time flies when you go through a global pandemic together, I guess. BEST FRIENDS FOREVER 💕
Reminiscing on the time I served Bon Iver and was super awkward, not because I knew he was Bon Iver, but because he looked vaguely familiar and I thought maybe I knew him from MPLS Twitter. I’m extremely glad I did not ask him if he was on MPLS Twitter.
Going to rip my fucking hair out because the state gave me a WEEK notice that I’m losing my health insurance, and their call volume is so high that it’s just hanging up when I call. So they are kicking everyone off with no notice and can’t even answer the phones. Unacceptable
If you have a sober friend, make sure to include them even if you think they’ll say no. Being sober is so damn lonely sometimes, and it’s truly the worst part of it.
Recreated my favorite hummus bowl @ Baba’s, hummus bi lahme, at home w some ground beef from the quarter cow my dad bought in Iowa, plenty of homemade Lebanese 7 spice, extra parsley, pine nuts, and a drizzle of olive oil
If Chick-fil-A skimmed 144k off of people’s paychecks and committed wage theft, they’d get a slap on the wrist. I love how we hold individual people more accountable than wealthy, powerful businesses.
@RJLIv2
@BAEM0NPINK
@PopBase
She’s always been weird but now she thinks she’s a big enough star to have an awful attitude when that isn’t the case. She’s more aggressive for no reason which is weird hence she’s weirder now
Restaurant owners have completely lost the plot since COVID. Went to a place, ordered on our phones, 10% service charge, & the lowest sugg. tip on top of that was 15%. I am obv NOT a cheap tipper, but sketchy service charges & phone ordering gotta go. Employees seemed unhappy!
The future of Open Streets in Minneapolis is in question, after the city ended its partnership with the nonprofit that has orchestrated the pop-up festivals.
I love shopping at
@LundsandByerlys
because after you spend $30 on 3 items, you get to try to lug your groceries through a 10 inch gap bc the asshole cops they hire are on a power trip, completely blocking the exit from the self checkout & don’t move when you say EXCUSE ME
I hate Cub so much. So expensive for horrible quality. Their meat counter!!! If you can even call it that? Anyway I compared a bunch of prices/products online and Whole Foods is generally the same price or CHEAPER than Minneapolis Cubs
I wish people in my life would acknowledge my dog dying. Like only my dad (who I’m mad at still!) and partner have asked me how I’m doing, nobody brings it up at work, it just feels lonely going through the worst loss I’ve experienced and no one seems to take it seriously 😥
Minneapolis twitter is such a funny lil amalgamation of people.
I have followers who would happily burn down police precincts and people who unfollow me for *checks notes* being a little disappointed that Caitlin Clark (who is v talented OBVIOUSLY) comes from a wealthy family
It’s my work bestie’s last day (end of an era!) and she wanted a tres leches cake so I made this mango tres leches from Melissa Clark/NYT. Coconut milk, brandy, mango whipped cream with cardamom & cinnamon, plus mango puree swirl make this one special.
We could have a ped mall, we could have shops and restaurants and activities by the river, we could have community events, more trash cans, a night market, anything!
@OliWilly
@_lizharvey
Doesn’t matter how much money he throws their way, he left the family and is a shit father addressing it on a hellsite, clearly the world’s biggest douche too. Lmao but ok.
Absolutely incredible that even after previous storm outrage and issues, the City of Minneapolis just said “fuck declaring a snow emergency because it *might* melt somewhat tomorrow”
Unincorporated towns in BFE have better snow removal than our city with high taxes 🙃
I ordered Pizza L*ce last night and almost put my bfs name on it because I felt weird ordering after talking shit lol. But gotta give credit: the Christmas specialty pizza was p good, and it was delivered in like 20 min by the most jolly man. Just don’t order a normal pizza there
some better ring pics!
having thin fingers is annoying because the ring fits when I’m warm, hydrated, and fed, but apparently my finger size changes wildly.
BREAKING: The Minneapolis City Council will vote tomorrow on a proposal delaying the city’s new rideshare ordinance by two months, to July 1
Proponents say the “extension” would give time for new apps to get set up & for
#mnleg
to keep working on a deal
On a road trip in Grand Rapids, MN for a lamp w my friend who’s addicted to FB marketplace. Was thinking about my sports bar job 10 years ago, how much I’m craving a buffalo chicken wrap recently & couldn’t find any near me. Found an amazing wrap and sweet potato fries here
@RandiPetey
First of all, have you ever been on the internet? Second of all, I have 70 some followers and like tweeting about food. Get tf out of my mentions.
People who look down on service jobs think they’re automatically qualified for them with no experience…like no one cares that you have a BA for a fucking ice cream stand. Can you scoop the best? Prob not
I’ve told this story before, but in 2008 I applied to be a scooper at an ice cream stand, with a BA from a top 25 university. I was one of maybe 50 applicants. I didn’t get the job
@10HSUN6HMOON
Libra sun and most of them! I feel like Libra is one of the most misunderstood signs. Biggest one is that we’re the vapid hoes of the zodiac. Can’t make a decision to save my life though, that’s true
Going to my first concert since fall of 2019 tonight and wondering where people eat before going to First Ave? Not a concert girly! There doesn’t seem to be a ton of stuff near the venue, nor does it have to be right by it (I like good food)
The sleepover discourse is fucked. I can understand waiting until your kid can communicate effectively, but sleepovers were some of the best memories of my childhood. Stopping your kid from doing things bc you are worried they’ll be assaulted is paranoid helicopter behavior
@lillybilly299
Even if she HAD told you that and you brushed it off, instead of thinking she told you that, it’s not healthy to resent someone this much for 5 years over them mishandling her trauma, and to blame them for how she handled her trauma after that is also a lot. Take it to therapy
