The constitutional amendment that passed in Ohio doesn't allow abortions up to birth (Ramaswamy said it does). The amendment only ensures that abortion is available in the state up to viability (so roughly 23 weeks of pregnancy).

I disagree with Steve here. There are 51 people. Any Republican could make this call. None will because they care more about dominating the courts than anything else. But to always pin it on Collins and Murkowski ignores that any 2 Republican senators could stop this process.

There are 2 people who could stop, slow, insist on documents, etc re: the Kavanaugh nomination and it would screech to a halt: Collins & Murkowski. Neither have done so. Collins seems borderline enthusiastic after yesterday's 2-hour "settled law" powwow; Murkowski tomorrow.

I don't think people realize how crucial of an inflection point 2000 was. Dukakis got crushed + still won WV. In 1996, Clinton won: KY, LA, AR, TN, MO, WV. Gore thought these were toss ups going into 2000. He lost them by 3-15 points & Democrats haven't come close since.

RIGHT NOW: House Republicans narrowly pass two articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The final vote 214-123. He is only the 2nd cabinet secretary to be impeached. The articles now go to the Senate, where a conviction is not expected.
