i really dislike how American celebrities portray Africa as this fetishized land that serves as nothing more than an aesthetic backdrop for them in the face of their own internal conflict or whatever journey they are currently undergoing.
thinking about the hard-wired trauma that comes with being perpetually broke.
having to plan out every single expense, stretching out money for as long as possible.
the devastating impact it has on your mental, emotional and physical well-being.
everyday is exhausting.
@Whitb_xx
my problem is not it being out, it's the subject matter... American media only ever cares to engage Africa when an American celebrity is affiliated, people aren't tuning in for Ghana, they are tuning in for Kendrick thus putting Ghanaians on the backburner

@Maybelcy
I'm sorry that you feel that way, but if you didn't always focus on the negative you'd be happier. The devil doesn't want you to have that joy, he wants to destroy our relationship. You can't let him. Now say you forgive me. ๐ญ
& this is my problem with y'all.
no critical thinking whatsoever. do you not think we should ever get media that prioritizes African stories ?
no, because you only ever care to engage Africans, when they are in close proximity to American celebrities
kinda bored need to develop an innocent crush on someone which then turns to a debilitating obsession that occupies the entirety of my day and completely alters who i am as a person but only lasts for three weeks and leaves me even more emotionally damaged than i already am :)
@thaddeusmacabee
i'm begging you to read. at what point did i claim he has no right to reconnect to his motherland?
i explicitly stated that my issue was with how Africans are placed on the backburner whenever an American celebrity is associated, and these are the only projects that are greenlit
everybody getting upset over this when it's evident they meant "deserve to be ugly" in that people should not have to face hardship & mistreatment because of their ugliness, that they deserve to be ugly in peace & this shouldn't affect their access to material resources & care.
black people can and deserve to be ugly. I am actively against the premium we place on desirable and conventionally attracted people (which is why the conversation is so ridiculous). but we need to be honest about what is going on when we assign ugliness to blackness.

The rising trend of braless women parading the streets is overwhelming.
Those with prominent nipples, carelessly wear tops with thin fabrics, and swagger about.
If you talk, they'll tell you it's their choice.
The annoying thing is the lack of differentiation.
there's a DJ i just found on instagram (
@dopecaesar
) who hit the SEXIEST transition from love is wicked to soweto and i swear to GODDD i lost my fucking mind ๐ฉ๐คฏ๐คค๐ฎโ๐จ๐ค๐ซก
fun story, i was very young when i first heard this song and genuinely thought promiscuous meant "well dressed" and so my mother was getting ready for a dinner and asked me if she looked good and i said she looked promiscuous sldkjflskdj the way her face dropped ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
JANELLE MONAE MAY YOU NEVER LACK LIPSTICK OR LOVERS YOU BRILLIANT FREE ASS MOTHERFUCKER YOU.
MAY YOU CONTINUE TO FLOAT INTO ALL THE SPACES YOU OCCUPY.
MAY BLESSINGS AND BEAUTY FOLLOW YOU ALL YOUR DAYS.
MAY THE JOY YOU POURED INTO THIS PROJECT ENCOMPASS ALL THAT IS AROUND YOU.
having no money is genuinely one of the most harrowing and demoralizing ordeals to undergo.
the anxiety, the guilt, the shame, the helplessness, the loneliness.
the overwhelming sense of dread.
i am so tired.
in a country where lgbtq+ people are already marginalised and displaced, where their harm & demise is celebrated & they are denied access to material resources.
in a country where they are permanently unsafe.
living as a queer &/or trans person in Kenya *is* capital punishment.
it is disingenuous not to consider upcoming indie, poc & lgbtq+ filmmakers whose work will inevitably be disproportionately affected by the monopolization of the film industry by major corporations.
to make this solely about tarantino and the like is dishonest and misguided.
this is still THE most sick thing Hanna has ever done on this app
The prettiest girls really do be the most quiet on this app, all they do is mind their business & stay pretty. I don't know what to say about the rest..
Zowie is the true definition of an artist aligned. an artist realised.
holy FUCK.
i am speechless. i am awed. i am overwhelmed.
but mostly i am grateful. grateful to have been a part of this beautiful song in any capacity.
my friendship with this beautiful being has keptโ
super excited to announce that i am officially a hired writer at
@bubblegumclubbb

hey y'all so i lost a pretty huge job opportunity & my work phone along with it (no new photos for a while) which i'm pretty devastated about... so i would really appreciate it if y'all bought mounted prints of my photography & stills & followed my instagram page -
@printsbyelchi
a couple days ago i was warned to be more trepid about what i post on social media... when i asked why, it was stated that people do not often publicly flaunt their sexuality and this (to me) was just further proof that heterosexual people truly live in an alternate reality.
