The "Biden hasn't given a press conference" "concern" seems lame. He's obviously working very hard, rather than bragging and waiting for somebody to tell him what to sign, and he has an active press office that isn't full of chuds.
@RadioFreeTom
I think the rule of thumb right now is: Let's throw it against a wall and see if the U.S. Supreme Court lets us get away with it. This is keeping me up at night, honestly.
Hey media: Would be great if someone created an all-in-one-place list of arrests and charges and eventual courtroom results for participants in the Beer Belly Putsch*.

Today is the on-sale newsstand date for my first issue as editor of
@OutsideMagazine
. Please check it out!
Many thanks to all the great writers, editors, photographers, artists, and designers who make this publication possible.
I wrote about Rushmore's carver, Gutzon Borglum, in the New Republic in the early 90s. That's not available online, but here's the basic idea from a book that mentioned my article. He also worked on the Confederate carving at Stone Mountain in Georgia:
"Debate me!"
Granted, I said this to my cat Björn, who was asleep with his feet up in the air. But I still felt a rush of power from the thrill of targeting him for harassment.
As millions of you know, I'm watching the 1993 Ted Turner movie about Gettysburg.
Chamberlain and his men just held the line on the far left. Here, awesomely, is the speech he gave when the monument to the 20th Maine was dedicated in 1889.
The versatile actor
@Nick_Offerman
is also a very accomplished craftsman. He built the canoe he's carrying, and in this new story for
@outsidemagazine
, he beats the crap out of it during a paddling trip on ... the L.A. River. Really fun and interesting.
I can confirm
@PeteButtigieg
ate all of that and here’s a shot of him early in the day drinking a root beer float while reviewing this year’s food options.

Don Lemon is letting it all out right now—talking about how Trump's media-bashing apparently led to Don being called the f-word (the word directed against gay people) and the n-word by Trumpies on the street.
@RadioFreeTom
Boomers-in-name-only who were the youngest kid in a family full of actual Boomers (raises hand) need to be recognized for the oppressed and misunderstood group of heroes that we really are.
If I correctly understand what's going on,
@RadioFreeTom
is catching a lot of static because he said Boston would be a better Defense Secretary than Led Z.
Every 4th of July I ask myself the same haunting question related to war, history, and remembrance: what the hell prompted the creators of the Ted Turner "Gettysburg' movie to cast Martin Sheen as Robert E. Lee?
The 95something dad of a friend of mine from high school used his mad skillz to renovate several kid bikes that had been tossed—then donated them. Western Kansas at its finest.
Big (and good) news about
@OutsideMagazine
. The title has been acquired by a great business, Boulder-based Pocket Outdoor Media, which "is changing its name to reflect the branding of one of those companies, 'Outside.'" For anybody wondering, I'm psyched.
In which a realtor who was working with Epstein in New Mexico—before he bought Zorro Ranch—finds him at a hotel room filled with teenage girls. "I just assumed they were his daughters.'
More Trump advice to federal workers: "In small towns, many old ladies cool their pies on the sills of open windows. You can earn one of these tasty pies by offering to do chores."
Biggest of salutes to the freelancer who called to cold-pitch me voice to voice, adding that this bold move was "one of the ways I'm like Indiana Jones."
He's in a long, nutty ramble about how Democrats are going to go door to door to steal the election. Woman in the room off-camera. "Right! Right!"
Rube Nation has convened. Everyone should be watching this.
I saw "Free Solo" last night. Most of all, I'm having trouble getting past the horror of Alex Honnold's decision to buy a wobbly little white refrigerator that was way smaller than what his girlfriend obviously wanted for their new condo.
We said goodbye to this giant today: indoor cat Rico, who was found in a box near an interstate highway 15 years ago and became the defining fun spirit of our house. Loving pets is hard sometimes, but of course we'll do it again.
I just finished a 5,000-word story, most of which is fact that required a lot of research. I don't do that every day anymore, since I'm mainly an editor now, but it was a really useful reminder of how much effing work it takes to do these kinds of stories. Hats off, writers! 🚀
Today I am living the dream.
@outsidemagazine
's epic story about
#Blowhole
the sled dog is running furry neck and neck with
@BackpackerMag
's groundbreaking piece about Cinamen the Appalachian Trail guide cat. 🐈🐕
There are
#Blowhole
Wikipedia pages but there isn't one devoted to Blowhole the Brake-Line-Eating Sled Dog. I'd like each of the candidates to address my question about this: Why the hell not?
Unexpected, to say the least. The two cats we take care of just asked me if they could borrow my "device" next week to read about
#Blowhole
. ("He sounds like our kind of dog.")

Hey, people criticizing
@RadioFreeTom
for using garlic powder instead of "real garlic" on his Easter lamb:
When you prep pork ribs for BBQing/smoking, do you use dry rub (powdered herbs and spices) or do you smear on chopped-up slices of garlic?
The defense rests. 👨⚖️
Greetings: I'm looking for non-white writer (male or female) who has gone through the experience of moving to a mountain town specifically to pursue a passion for the kinds of adventure sports we cover at

. If that describes you or someone you know, lemme hear.

"You were making history. The world has recorded for you more than you have written. The centuries to come will share and recognize the victory won here, with growing gratitude." Lordy.
Ryan Zinke often compares himself to Teddy Roosevelt, so we asked Teddy Roosevelt IV what he thinks. His reply: "He's not a Teddy Roosevelt Republican and he's misappropriating the legacy."
I hope you'll read & share
@AnnetteMcGivney
's story about Charles Barrett, a climber and guidebook author who goes on trial for sexual assault in Sacramento next week.
Annette's work touches on fundamental issues about the safety of women in the outdoors.
"It was exhausting, but a world in which the most critical questions of the day were how to wax and how much to eat is rejuvenating in ways that are difficult to replicate."
Great stuff by my Nordic-loving friend,

Speaking of Dog Innocence, we are now only a Whisper of Time™ away from the release of the most important story about Dog Jurisprudence ever published.
A lot of you have been saying: "Sled dogs are great, but what about
@alexheard
's cats? Who's who, and who's healthy and prepared to make a statement as we head into the Spring 2019 season?" ... Know that you've been heard and that I'll get to this soon.
