I didn't think I'd have to do this but I'll stay true to my word. My first decent monthly income as a dev was about 25,000 around 2016-2017, right now it's at 1,025,005 (all gross). This time last one year it was about 500,000 gross so it's grown rapidly very recently
My sister is admitted in hospital and undergoing treatment. We appreciate any who take their time to read, pray, encourage and contribute towards her recovery๐๐พ!

So whoever is out there grinding, keep doing so. At no point did I ever ask for big figures, I'm just always surprised when I see them being offered to what I always do, which is my usual thing, grind!
PS, I have no idea how this became a ted talk thread

Firstly, prefixing a statement with a disclaimer does not magically negate the sentiment.
Secondly to help you 'get it', do you understand that as a black man in tech from Nairobi you are not only part of a marginalized and underrepresented group but also are statistically
kenyans suffering because the mental conversion we were used to doesn't work at all anymore is hilarious ๐
how is $280 == Kes. 38,000 at the very least ๐
In all my very few years as a dev 'professionally' I've been working an average of 60-75 hrs a week, 50 when I wasn't busy. At some points it was 80hrs. Definitely not healthy. But I also strongly believe in will power and mind control, so I always just do my thing
As a former tech lead at Twitter, I'll share some technical details on how we architected our caching layer. We used a combination of Java and Kafka to build an agnostic system that could be used for various use cases.

For posterity I'll give you a straight answer. "Women in tech" as a movement and division of "diversity and inclusion" is required to progressively empower more to learn, contribute to and grow the industry. The reason diversity and inclusion projects exist is because
if you're gonna book my calendar for a mentorship session/ discussion, at least please show up or communicate if you can't. had a few no-shows and it's annoying
No one asked me this but why are some Kenyans so westernized that we casually make fun of local names (yes Iโm referencing that tweet about Luhyas lol)

So many quotes saying how much this mans style doesnโt have class etc. I really think thatโs wrong. Class / taste is personal and can never be generalized. The man R.G probably loves everything about the look, and also probably prefers to pour his money into a farm or something;

Point is, complex architecture for a new, un-launched, incomplete product is most likely a mistake.
You discover majority of engineering and product design qualms when building your MVP, which should be almost if not entirely a monolith.

i don't believe in the nonsense of software engineering for one year, I am convinced likes of Moringa and ALX are creating Quacks not software engineers, Quacks cannot survive in software engineering because software development is a field that requires a high degree of skill and
