Hi
@Chalkhillschool
I thought it would be a good start to your week to hear from
@MichaelRosenYes
who is now home after being in hospital with
#Covid19
for more than 7 weeks. He is still recovering but good to hear his voice again. I hope he has some

After contracting coronavirus, the poet
@MichaelRosenYes
spent 48 days in intensive care. Now back at home, he has a message for all of those people who wished him well while in hospital.

Smashing. Makes me want to read more. My mother wrote a weekly poem for the milkman stuffed in the empty milk bottle with the milk money. All about her everyday life and thoughts. Later he said he wished he'd saved them.
There are few issues that have as much impact on daily life as the closure of our public toilets. It's life limiting for many but scarcely spoken about it. During a recent illness I realised the problem that the lack of access poses daily for so many. Restriction.Embarrassment.
Lack of access to toilets for all workers (whether driving buses, taxis or Minicabs or riding a bike for delivery company) is a massive health and well being issue. London should have loos everywhere.

@MichaelRosenYes
There's another truth. Children in year group 'bubbles' will have brothers and sisters in other year group 'bubbles'. No contact at school but lots at home!
The most noteworthy aspect of the
#cabinetreshuffle
so far is that thousands believed
@MichaelRosenYes
's message that Gove had returned as Sec of State for Education. Shows
@theresa_may
's government is beyond parody.

@RebeccaFiler
I am in
@TheGreenParty
and can tell you that Jo is making an excellent contribution to the party. Her talk on a panel with other councillors about their work was exemplary. We are pelased to have her!
@DCustodians
@ramzpaul
I was a headteacher of a primary school like this and enjoy meeting former pupils who have taken full advantage of their education and are now making an enormous contribution to British society.
@MichaelRosenYes
I remember the shock of the news 20 years ago and the tragedy of the loss of someone who teachers & pupils had grown to know and love through your poems. We all felt a little of your pain. He lives on whenever I share your Eddie poems from Quick, Let's Get Out of Here

Leader of

@MAsgharButt
told residents after the Barham Park Trustee's Meeting not to read Wembley Matters: 'Don't believe what it says.' They replied reading it was the only way they knew what was going on in Brent. Thanks for the plug Mo, appreciated!
After rave reviews of my performance as a rich 'oil man' in Friday's Street Theatre at the £100m Brent Civic Centre (well, outside) I am offering my services as a lobbyist to fossil fuel companies at £9,999 a day - plus expenses.
We will be discussing how to defend our libraries at

conference today. Wishing you a great demonstration and a successful campaign

@bktimes
This from the landing page on your website is insensitive and insulting. I have political differences with Ken Livingstone but you undermine his service and achievements as a Brent MP and former GLC leader.
@MichaelRosenYes
Thinking I should have had a tofu alternative for the treat or tricksters who just turned up at the door. After all Wembley is almost north London!
I am so pleased to report that the Memorial Tree fo sisters

After the near melt-down at Northwick Park Hospital and the coronavirus peak still to come, it's time to bring Central Middlesex Hospital, Willesden Hospital and Wembley Centre into full use. Staffing still a major issue but wards etc coould be prepared.
Good to see

contribute to investigation into high costs of heating networks. It would be interesting to hear from other Brent residents in such properties about their experience and bills

I'm a Greenie but have some sympathy with this. Go to scrutiny anyway & ask to speak from the floor is good advice: Brent’s sole Liberal Democrat councillor requests scrutiny position on committees
Yesterday's flooding and cut off water supplies highlighted how only people on social media got to know what was happening and what they should do. Real and potentially dangerous digital exclusion. What can be done about it

Water supply should now have been restored to all properties. If you still don't have water please see the update 👇that contains a link to contact

I embarrassed a primary headteacher (with Frank Spencer qualities) who had just called someone a 'berk'. I explained its derivation via rhyming slang from Berkeley Hunt.
@BouchMaths
Please do, teachers are all too prone to remember their failures, even if very few, rather than their successes. As a headteacher I saw teachers devastated by one critical parent on Parents' Evening, rather than enjoying the praise lavished by others.
An all too common sight in Wembley/Kingsbury. Refurbishment of private houses means public space of pavement and grass verge gets smashed up by heavy vehicles.
@Brent_Council
BEWARE! Your Twitter feed will over-flow with pictures of councillors pointing to repaired holes in the road, litter collected and other good deeds ahead of
@Brent_Council
Local Elections. Candidate selection by
@BrentLabour
is underway with a reduced number of seats available!
Still haunted by the woman I met outside Willesden Green Sainsbury's while campaigning at the General Election who said the reason she was voting Conservative was because 'Boris makes me laugh.' Never has so much damage been done to so many people for such a trivial reason.
The question for
@Brent_Council
tonight is who gave the order for the live stream
#BrentLive
of a vital Scrutiny Meeting about a multimillion housing scandal and major defects by a builder still empoyed by Brent, to be cut off just when recommendations were about to be discussed?
Wishing
@QueensburySOS
well as they present the case for the importance of pubs to local communities and the vital role they play on BBC1 Sunday Morning Live from 10am. We are behind you!
Frogspawn looking healthy and plentiful at Barn Hill pond, Wembley, despite very low water during last summer's drought and recent very cold overnight temperatures.

@NewStatesman
I'm afraid that means a cancelled subscription after 50 years plus of

If only there was a publicly accountable body with the authority to take over buildings where owners or landlords are unable/unwilling to provide a basic standard of heating, hot water, safety - with remediation funded by the previous owner/landlord.
@10DowningStreet
@UKLabour
This is so stressful. So many weekends we spend chasing for someone to fix our hot water and heating. Basic provision of housing.
This is really having an impact on my mental health again.

Wembley Matters blog has been banging on about the need for flood precautions and infrastructure maintenance & upgrades for a while now. Today's flooding in various parts of the borough makes action by
@Brent_Council
&
@thameswater
even more urgent. The risks cannot be ignored.
I've just had a report from
@Chalkhillschool
that the school chef, a teacher and a teacher's husband have worked since 6am to clear the schoool site of snow and gritted all areas so the school can open. Wonderful teamwork!
.
@BBCr4today
other headteachers are available. Lazy to get out the contacts book and expose us to Katharine Birbalsingh's self-publicity on every educational issue. Today's interview complete with disparaging remarks about pupils particularly unenlightening.
@MichaelRosenYes
The UK ratified the UN Covention on the Rights of the Child in December 1991. The Government's extension of the 'hostile environment' to child refugees surely against the spirit of Article 22.
@UNICEF
Three matches in Wembley this holiday weekend so it's going to be busy. Why not escape to Fryent Country Park for some peace... Photo taken this lunchtime.
@cyclingkev
I wonder how many school workers will test positive in the next 10 days given the current rate of contagion, and will then, along with co-workers who had contact with them, have to self-isolate over the holiday?
@QueensburySOS
@TheQueensbury
Sorry to hear the news but congratulations on a fantastic campaign and amazing staying power in a David and Goliath battle.
Heartening to be with NHS Nurses and other NHS staff this after to express my solidarity. I have had much to thank them for over the last few years,
