It’s worth remembering that if Conservative MPs now get rid of Boris Johnson it will not be because he has done profound damage to the United Kingdom, to parliament, to truth or to the UK’s reputation abroad. It will be because he has done damage to them.
If Boris Johnson ever finds out that it was Boris Johnson who struck the deal that Boris Johnson says is unfair then Boris Johnson will be in big trouble with Boris Johnson.
Just checked with friends in Germany - they have no fuel shortages, no acute HGV driver shortages, no empty supermarket shelves, no gas crisis, no panic buying. “But we also have no Brexit,” as one of them pointed out.

enquired whether a highly qualified person, his wife Carrie, could be Chief of Staff at the FCDO as she had held a similar post elsewhere.
He was told No.
So she wasn’t appointed.
Errrrrr. That’s it.
Let us work peacefully and lawfully to defeat racism and discrimination wherever we find it, and let us continue to work together as we put Britain back on its feet.
Mogg’s father was editor of the Times. He had a nanny. He went to Eton. If that’s your definition of a “self made man” perhaps you need to sit down and have a long think about British society.
People "are taking too many liberties with the guidance" to ease lockdowns in some parts of the world, says Boris Johnson
"It's crucial" that lockdown restrictions are lifted "in a balanced way"
It's not an insult to Britain. It's a recognition that talking to a shambolic, badly prepared, arrogant and bloviating British prime minister is a waste of time for leaders who actually know what they are doing. The insult is having Johnson represent our country.
I stand with millions of Britons that are deeply insulted at the shocking news that the German Chancellor has refused the British Prime Minister’s request for a telephone call. This is an insult to every Briton, whether they support our PM or not.
A friend sends me a text asking: “Why does the BBC say the ‘risk’ of no deal instead of the ‘opportunity’ of no deal?”
Anyone got an answer for him?

Man who wanted an election and who campaigned for an election and who voted for an election and whose party voted for an election says he didn’t want an election. Is there anything Boris Johnson says which is actually true? Anything?
"I don't want an early election... but we've got to the stage where we have no choice, because our Parliament is paralysed"
Boris Johnson kicks off the Conservatives' election campaign, saying MPs are "stuck in a rut" over Brexit
It would be a great improvement if TV current affairs shows took Juergen Klopp’s advice and didn’t book people to speak about things they have no knowledge about, merely an uninformed opinion
By resigning as Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson made himself “intentionally homeless” and there is no reason why taxpayers should provide him with social housing.
What do Sir Kim Darroch, Sir Mark Sedwill and Sir Simon McDonald have in common? They were three top British civil servants purged by Dominic Cummings and his assistant Boris Johnson because they dared let facts and reality get in the way of political obsessions. Who’s next?
Absolutely extraordinary interview from former Chancellor
@PhilipHammondUK
utterly destroying the idea that Boris Johnson is seriously negotiating with the EU. If Hammond is correct then the Prime Minister is lying to the British people
@BBCRadio4
‘If somebody asks you (to fill in a form) you tell them to ring up the Prime Minister & I will direct them to throw that form in the bin’
@BorisJohnson
Why is this barefaced lie not being shown on every UK news channel?!
I signed because if we let the people who lied and cheated to bring us into this mess win - they will lie and cheat even more in the future. And I do not want to live in Trumpland where lies are rewarded. Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU. - Petitions
Woman who writes for The Mail characterises a million or more peacefully protesting fellow citizens as a lynch mob. She is also married to Michael Gove. These are not the kind of people who make me proud of our country. Bitter and twisted.
@Peston
There are no leavers there because they would be lynched. These people are so convinced of their righteousness they cannot see anyone who disagrees with them as anything other than a monster. The rhetoric against people who voted to Leave characterises them as sub-human.
I’n just surprised that the Brexit party so shamelessly copied the Nazi party in turning its back in an elected assembly. At least we now know what we are up against.
Whatever your politics I think Keir Starmer spoke for the country today when he eviscerated the prime minister for his shameless lies at Prime Minister’s Questions.
Brexit supporting newspaper with Brexit supporting readers announces that one of the consequences of Brexit is surprisingly that the United Kingdom has lost the benefits of being in the European Union.
What about those of us who don’t understand how Britain ever survived so successfully for CENTURIES before it became a member of the EU just 45yrs ago...?
This is incredible. Thank you, Berliners. Thank you, Germany. And hello
@pritipatel

Personally I think Rishi Sunak’s “Windsor framework” is so good it should be extended to Windsor and indeed the entire UK. We could call it something catchy like “membership of the Single Market and Customs Union.”
Gosh. Jacob Rees-Mogg wants to VOTE AGAIN because ... wait for it ... he has changed his mind about the best way forward. But it's only 650 politicians who are allowed to change their minds. Not 65 million other British people.

Spoiler Alert: the Johnson Plan is to make the EU an offer they cannot accept and then blame the EU. He next offers No Deal which Parliament won’t accept - so he can blame MPs. A General Election follows in which he blames everyone except himself. And some will believe him.
Boris Johnson won the Brexit vote, an 80 seat majority, disgraced the office of prime minister and now his legacy is the destruction of the Conservative party and the UKs reputation for competence. His part in this mess should never be forgotten when he plots his come back
This investigation means Brexit must be put on hold until we find out whether the vote was financed illegally. We need the truth before plunging in to the most disruptive political event of our lifetimes. Arron Banks referred to National Crime Agency
I wish Boris Johnson well - but my goodness, how sad that The Daily Telegraph has ended up publishing sub-Stalinist drivel like this. Very embarrassing for the good journalists who work there.
The prime minister who promised a Garden Bridge, a bridge from Scotland to N Ireland and other Titanic successes now promises 40 new hospitals. And some people will believe him. Meanwhile in the real world we are 40,000 nurses short.
Rule Britannia was written in 1740 at the peak of the slave trade when British vessels transported a total of 3 million Africans to the New World as slaves. To suggest it condemns “slavery and tyranny” is quite the stupidest comment in the stupidest row of 2020.
Typical of the BBC to refuse to sing Britons never never never shall be slaves. They do not even agree with the rest of us that we can unite in a song condemning slavery and tyranny.
The Prime Minister has apologised and, as Sue Gray's report confirms, is already making the necessary changes in No10 to ensure these mistakes cannot happen again.
Now it's time to get on with the job and deliver on the issues that matter most to the British people.
Polls suggest "the vast majority want to get out now, even if they voted Remain" and most people would be happy with a no-deal Brexit, Iain Duncan Smith says
Why do we believe the prime minister has resigned when he is still in the job? In what sense is staying in Downing Street and appointing ministers a resignation? Can anyone else do this kind of thing? Anyone?
To be called arrogant by an old Etonian of great inherited wealth who led a racially divisive campaign for London mayor and lost is a badge of great honour. Thank you Zac Goldsmith. I’m sure Brexit will be fine for you.
Man who described some Muslim women as being like “letterboxes” now lectures us about hatred. Can someone please show Boris Johnson what a mirror looks like?
All our thoughts and prayers are today with the people of New Zealand. We already know in our hearts what this was: a sickening and cowardly terrorist attack that was driven by nothing but hatred. We will always stand together against those who are intent on terror and hate
I’ve just watched free food being handed out by a “non judgemental” soup kitchen in north London, in one of the richest countries in the world. I am grateful to and proud of those who are feeding hungry people. But is this what we have become? (There was a queue.)
The Johnson government which sent an RAF plane to Turkey to pick up PPE - without checking if it was fit for purpose - is being ridiculed from Australia to Europe. What a cavalcade of incompetents.
Former tabloid editor sacked for publishing fake pictures of British soldiers doesn’t read the story before commenting on it. I’m talking about lack of expert opinions and facts on TV
@piersmorgan
- don’t misrepresent me as you did our soldiers. Thanks.
Kent, this morning. I can only imagine the degree of fear and despair which leads people to risk crossing the Channel on this in December. And I cannot begin to imagine the lack of empathy required to be Suella Braverman.
It is completely clear from video footage that
@MattHancock
's adviser was not whacked by a protestor, as I was told by senior Tories, but that he inadvertently walked into a protestor's hand. I apologise for getting this wrong.
The Conservative party took a decision in 2016 to elect Theresa May as leader. Some have changed their minds so they are having a second vote. British people have also changed their minds since 2016. We need our Peoples Vote. Or is it only Tory MPs allowed to change their minds?
EU agrees deal with South American trade bloc Mercosur - it took 20 years to negotiate. Anyone who thinks Brexit will be “done” if we leave on 31 October is delusional. That’s when the process starts. And it will take years, probably decades. Fun times.
This is a real moment. Professor Neil Ferguson:
"The epidemic was doubling every three to four days before lockdown interventions were introduced. So had we introduced lockdown measures a week earlier, we would have then reduced the final death toll by at least a half."
Just to be clear -
Brexit means implementing a policy based on an advisory vote in which the “winning” side cheated and broke the law.
Is everyone OK with that?
Hahahahahaha!!! Omg. The TIMING! On the day Britain was set to leave European Union, the official campaign finally admits it broke the law. Deliberately. Massively. And overseen by Theresa May’s closest advisor & one of her ministers. Incredible
The moment Labour MP Dawn Butler asked to leave House of Commons after refusing to withdraw claims PM Boris Johnson "lied to the House and the country over and over again"
Does the idea of two referendums in the next 12 months fill you with dread? There's an easy way to help stop that happening - vote
@ScotTories
on December 12th.
Man who used his newspaper column to talk of African people as “picanninies with watermelon smiles” and talked of some Muslim women as “letterboxes” takes a stand against racist Bulgarians. And some people think he is “authentic.”
The vile racism we saw and heard last night has no place in football or anywhere else. Fully support Gareth Southgate & the team for rising above it. Need to see strong swift action from UEFA.
Gavin Esler: TV news must stop giving airtime to the 'village idiots' of Brexit - the dubious right wing supposed "think tanks" and pseudo-experts among ERG MPs who simply haven't a clue what the implications of Brexit truly are.
Just to be clear: the highly respected former official who conducted an inquiry into alleged wrong-doing has quit. The Home Secretary he found to have engaged in the wrongdoing is still in her job. And some Conservative MPs think this is okay. Britain 2020
I'm pleased to announce today that the Brexit Party would finally scrap the hated inheritance tax.
People pay tax their whole lives. It is immoral to hit grieving families when they are vulnerable. The Tories can copy this policy again if they want.
Yes and I notice that some Brexiters are now backtracking from the clear Nazi parallels and claiming they were protesting against the music. Beethoven. They were protesting against Beethoven. The Brexit Party really do think any old nonsense will do. Nasty Party.
Fascinating to listen to Conservative party members on BBC Radio 4 at lunchtime saying how tough the task facing the next prime minister will be, without a glimmer of recognition about which political party has supposedly been governing for the past 12 wasted years.
Just a few days after Juergen Klopp refused to answer questions on

because he is not an expert, we have this view from an eminent virologist ... (is that right?)
No trade deal with EU. No trade deal with US. Brexit far from “done.” Flip flop on Huawei. No curiosity about Russia undermining our democracy. Abysmal performance on coronavirus. No shame. World leading only in incompetence
We’ve kept our promises. We have recruited thousands of nurses & police officers, and invested billions more in our NHS & schools.
Of course there is much more to do. As we begin to recover from this pandemic, we will not lose sight of the country we have promised to build 🇬🇧
Pro Brexit MP discovers that leaving the EU means the U.K. has no voice, no votes, no MEPs, no commissioner.
It’s almost like leaving the EU means ... not being in the EU.
“The future of the country and our relationship with Europe is at stake. This deal gives us no voice, no votes, no MEPs, no commissioner.”
#RemainerNow
The integrity of the United Kingdom is vital. We want a free trade deal with the EU that is in all our interests. But we cannot accept them either keeping us under their rules, or putting a border down the Irish Sea.
Spoiler alert: he hasn’t. He has promised to create ... like the Garden Bridge. Please stop confusing a Johnson promise with a FACT

Britain's richest man is moving abroad to avoid tax. Needless to say, he was a prominent Brexiteer - like too many others, displaying gross hypocrisy and contempt for his fellow citizens
Oliver Dowden says inflation is stickier in the UK, in part, because we are affected by a "tight labour market that Europe doesn't have".
If only someone could have predicted that ending free movement would have that effect. ~AA
Dear Mr Kawczynksi - since you are on Twitter you presumably have access to Google. In less than 30 seconds Google research you and your constituents could find out how embarrassing it is that as an MP you Tweet something so stupid.
I just had a world leading walk with the dog and a world beating coffee which was a fantastic success of New Deal Churchillian proportions while later I’ll be having a universally admired attempt at unloading our world leading dishwasher. How’s your day going?

The show must go on.
We’re introducing a world-leading £1.57 billion rescue package to help cultural, arts and heritage institutions weather the impact of coronavirus.
I wonder how long it will take Conservatives to realise their key problem isn’t a series of failed leaders.
It’s a series of failed policies from austerity and Brexit to decayed public services. The problem with the Conservative Party is the Conservative
Party
If people are non resident for tax purposes or are representatives of foreign countries - say of Belize - their lack of attachment to this country is such that they should be investigated by HMRC - don’t you agree?
Advice: does anyone think it possible to get enough voters in his Uxbridge / Ruislip constituency to force a by-election and field a single Remain candidate to unseat Boris Johnson? Thoughts?
Perhaps
@pritipatel
you could have a word with the people who have been in charge of the British government for the past 11 years. They must be pretty useless if you now need a New Plan. 11. Years. 11 years.
It is why this Government’s New Plan for Immigration will overhaul our broken asylum system and address many of the long-standing pull factors encouraging migrants to make the perilous journey from France to the United Kingdom.
They are fully qualified doctors. Unlike our countless numbers of rotating Conservative Health Secretaries, “junior” doctors actually know what the job entails.
'Doctors in training as I prefer to call them walked out of our negotiations'
Health Secretary Victoria Atkins spoke to

about the 72 hour junior doctors strike in England
It’s fascinating how the argument for Brexit has changed from “sunlit uplands” and “Brexit dividends” to “do Brexit or the neo Nazis will get angry.” Is that the best this brain dead government can come up with? Appeasement didn’t work before and won’t work now.

This is how false equivalence and “balance” works. On the one hand the climate scientists of the UN panel on climate change - on the other hand Meatloaf. Meatloaf. Yep.
And the problem is that some people will believe Meatloaf knows more about climate change
My father was a Dunkirk veteran and he despised people who try to make cheap political capital out of a war they didn’t fight. He would call it despicable. And he would also think your cliched cartoon version of British history was idiotic. Have you no shame?
I think it hilarious that Boris Johnson is promising Tory MPs jobs in government if they stick with him. What could possibly go wrong with a Boris Johnson promise?
#gardenbridgesforall
If there is no Withdrawal Agreement there is no implementation period. We crash out. Ignore the fancy words. Either Boris Johnson hasn’t a clue what he is doing or he is being deliberately deceptive. Either way he is unfit to be prime minister.
“You disaggregate the elements of the otherwise defunct Withdrawal Agreement.. You reserve the payment of the £39b.. That is in the context of the Free Trade Agreement, that we’ll negotiate in the implementation period, after we’ve come out on Oct 31st”
@BorisJohnson

Man who disappeared to America after the Brexit vote and couldn’t organise a march to London needs your help to organise country. He’s been a career politician for 20 years as an MEP. Time for a change. End the Brain Dead politics of the past. Just say No to Nigel.
How top Brexiteers are thinking about surviving Brexit. Mogg - invest in Ireland. Lord Ashcroft recommends Malta. Lord Lawson - French residency. Gove- become PM. Rupert Murdoch - doesn’t live here. These options probably not available to everyone ....
Sadly we are witnessing a prime minister who has gone through life with delusions of grandeur and is now daily exposed as having delusions of competence
‘Brexit deal never made sense’ says man who negotiated it, signed it, prevented MPs from scrutinising it, campaigned for it and won a general election on the back of it:
