Canada strongly condemns the current terrorist attacks against Israel. These acts of violence are completely unacceptable. We stand with Israel and fully support its right to defend itself. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this. Civilian life must be protected.

Recent political events puts #OrangeShirtDay into perspective for me. While Canada was coddling Nazis over the last 75 years and giving them a great life, it was still destroying Indigenous peoples. This legacy is owed to PM William Lyon Mackenzie King 🧵

Some universities claim to be “decolonizing” or “Indigenizing” but they aren’t—they just want Indigenous students and their money. You don’t get to be selective about the parts of Indigenous life that you’re willing to ‘accommodate.’ It’s all or nothing.

I suggest there is a strong case to be made that Canada is officially trilingual with Inuktitut being the third language. Inuktitut is an official language of Nunavut--a federal jurisdiction established under s.35 of the Constitution Act, 1982.

The Canadian state apprehends Indigenous people--adults and children--breaks up families & communities, & incarcerates Indigenous people at an unconscionable scale. Despite that, I have never had the inclination to collectively punish Canadians. You are advocating for a war crime

Encampments are a violation of university policy. City police are municipal & universities fall under provincial jurisdiction. I call upon university administrators, police (and if needed provincial governments) to act. We can’t allow what is happening in the US to happen here.

Indigenous politicians in Canada will talk about colonial violence here and advocate to #searchthelandfill and so forth, but ignore the atrocities that are frequently visited upon Palestinians. I'd argue that the conditions of Palestinians today are worse than what we ever faced.

Simply put, there is no “nation of Quebec” on Algonquin land. French colonizers that showed up—uninvited and unwelcomed—a few hundred years ago have no claim to the thousands of years old Algonquin nation.
