I'm happy and excited to report that I am the new track announcer
@FlGaming
! Many thanks to everyone at Delaware North, Finger Lakes – namely Todd Haight - and to my two mentors, John Imbriale and Frank Mirahmadi, for helping to make my childhood dream come true!!!
This is the first time that first number wasn't a 4 in years. Long way to go but I'll get there. I won't bore you with updates so the next time you see this the number will be under 350.
Also, the
#BeastofTheBelmont
is back!!!
Happy to announce that I have accepted the position of Content Producer for
@TheNYRA
. I will continue my daily Talking Horses duties, make ADATR appearances and call some races, as well as produce some innovative and exciting content for
@NYRABets
!!!
This was the first outfit I wore on TV back in 2003 on NYCOTB TV. Mom kept the clothes hoping I'd one day fit back in them. That day was Sunday. 71 pounds and 18 years later. Still a lot left to do but we'll get there. See you at 12:40 for Talking Horses!
Found a watch in agents room at Belmont about 25 years ago. It was Julio Canani's. Cost $5K, a gift from Bobby Frankel. He gave me $500 for turning it in. I refused. He insisted. Then told me it might be a good idea to bet the nickel on their firster that day. $14. RIP Julio
Happy and excited to announce that I will be hosting Breakfast at Saratoga this summer! Will give you all the details in the next few days! Like everyone
@TheNYRA
, I can't wait to see everyone back at the Spaaaaaaa!!!
Had an absolute blast the past two weeks here in the booth at Aqueduct. Literally a dream come true every day I walk in here. The legend, Johnny I, is back on Friday when we resume racing at 12:50PM. Thanks for all the kind words. Enjoy the NY racing weekend!
My grandpa, Anthony Vincent Stabile. He died in '82. He was a POW in Anzio for over 1.5 years during WWII. We celebrate today, in part, because of people like him. He was a lucky one who made it home. Many didn't. Remember that today. All gave some, some gave all
#MemorialDay
People make mistakes in life. I've spent a lot of time being negative in this game. No more. When you spend a night w/guys & gals
@PDJFund
you realize they lay it on line every single day. May God bless them and keep them safe every time they get a leg up.

It literally brought a tear to my eye watching the Oaks yesterday, with all of those people in one place having such an amazing time celebrating life and our great sport. Can't imagine what today will be like down there. Enjoy it wherever you are!
Happy Derby everyone!!!
When the chips are down, no one bands together better than racetrackers. God Bless everyone who pitched in tonight at Belmont and the horses that were lost.
Please keep Natalie in your thoughts and prayers. She's recovering from major surgery. One of the toughest and most adorable kids I know. Love you sweetie!!!
Gotta hand it to connections of the seven horses that stood in gate with Flightline today, namely Life Is Good folks. After the Pacific Classic, there was a good chance today was going to play out exactly how it did. Yet they still showed up. Bravo.
PS: He's the best I've seen.
There were two extra seats at the "trainers table" at my college graduation party 1998, a surprise set up by my folks. They were eventually filled by my favorite trainer and his wife Tina. Congratulations to the GOAT, Bill Mott, on a fantastic
#BreedersCup
weekend!!!
Scene set: First floor at Aqueduct.
Patron sneezes:
Me: God bless you.
Patron, after glancing to see it's me: You haven't picked a winner today. I don't need you to bless me. F××× you!
God, I love this place!!!
I can't believe the
#Saratoga
meet is in the books. Thanks to everyone
@TheNYRA
&
@SaratogaWater
for making Talking Horses happen. Special thanks to my partner in 'capping & comedy
@andyserling
. Thanks to the fans for being the best in all of sports. We'll see you next year!!!
No one on this planet deserves their flowers, as the kids say, more than John Imbriale. No one. You cannot find anyone he worked with that he did not have a positive impact on or didn't like and respect him, a rarity in this sport. Thanks for everything, Johnny. I!!!
After nearly eight years, my days at
@HRRN
have come to an end. I cannot thank
@HRRNBaron
and
@penna_m
enough for taking a chance on me in 2013 when almost no one else would. They helped revive my career and brought me back to life. I wouldn't be where I am today with them. 1/2
Wrapping up my announcing stint
@YonkersRaceway
tonight before heading up to Finger Lakes for Opening Day on Monday.
Thanks to the fans, owners, trainers & drivers for welcoming the "Thoroughbred" guy in. And to my peeps in the control room and booth with me
First post is 7PM.
There is nothing better than spending a day at the track with your family and friends. Absolutely nothing. It's great to see Belmont Park come alive again.
Couldn't have been more wrong about Flightline today. Everything went Speaker's Corner's way and he buried him anyway. Big enough to admit when I'm wrong. Singular talent. Looking forward to his next race.
Our next, and final day, of racing
@TheNYRA
for 2020 comes on New Year's Eve. Thanks for being the absolute best fans in the world. We could not have gotten through this year without you. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! Have fun and stay safe out there!!
Sad to hear about Marshall Cassidy. As a kid growing up at the NY tracks his is the first voice I remember and he, of course, said that greatest words this then 12-year-old could hear during the 1989 Belmont Stakes:
"New York's Eeeeeeassssy Goer in front!!!"
RIP Marshall
Put that ride by
@RSantana_Jr
on Maracuja on the list of GREAT rides in a G1 race. Aggressive early, backed off when pressure came and out-finished one of the best to ever do it who doesn't lose a lot of photos. That was something!
#Saratoga
My mother has been cooking for me my entire life. I don't know if she ever goes into the kitchen seeking perfection but tonight she found it with one of the toughest dishes out there, shrimp francese.
It was the best dish I have ever eaten.
I often talk about my buddy Phil. He's been one of my best friends for 25 years. He's spending Thanksgiving with us. Barry Manilow comes on. Guy let's out a "YES" like he caught a $100 horse and tells me he's seen him in concert five times. Doubting the friendship now.
Found a new Saratoga spot. Caputo's in Saratoga Springs. Off exit 15 on Northway. Tried a handful of dishes made by Johnny the owner. Everything was great. Highly recommend. If the chicken rollatini w/risotto special is on the menu, get it! Can't wait to go back!
Lucky enough to be surrounded by two of the best. What
@FrankMirahmadi
and John Imbriale have done and continue to do for me can never be repaid. The best part about the both of them is they do it because they want to. Memorable night at Saratoga National at Prime!!!
I need my fellow
@nmrhof
voters to explain to me how
@clementstable
, a trainer with over 2000 wins on the toughest circuit in North America, who has done it the right way for over two decades, doesn't get the nod AGAIN. Seriously. We can talk on here or privately.
Me and
@andyserling
go at it often but that is what horse players do. We get a little more rambunctious than most but that's what good friends do. If you're going to badmouth us and call for our jobs at least tag us. And we all know you watch every day. Everyone does.
I decided to listed to the banter between Andy Serling & Anthony Stabile going over today's card at Saratoga. It's abominable TV. 2 guys with egos that are beyond disgusting arguing with each other. It's the worse sports TV I've ever seen. Both need to be fired.
#WinWithTheWizard
Thanks to all of the horsewomen and men AND the greatest racing fans in the world for making the Saratoga meet as successful as it was. See everyone next week at beautiful Belmont Park!!!
Saturday's Runhappy Met Mile field is set. Race 9 on an 11 race card at beautiful

Don't fret, Known Agenda fans. The rail draw isn't as bad as it used to be with the new gate and I've been told the guy on his back knows what he's doing.
Love this!!!
A guy once dropped what turned out to be $60 at Aqueduct in '96. Tried to give it back and he told me that he didn't drop anything and that my fat-ass should stop bothering him. Bet a $60 cold late DD and hit for $1320!!!
Thank you all for the encouragement and kind words this week. Racing resumes at Aqueduct on Friday at 1:20PM and the legend Johnny I will be back in his booth. I'm going to try to stay away from downed powerlines and trying to walk down an escalator that was going up until then!
Racetracker Anthony J. Stabile on growing up on the backstretch as a kid to now having a career in the industry. The racetrack is a family from the hot walkers to the billionaire owners

Thank You

First Nove trip of
#Saratoga
season, but you knew that because of the bocce court. With my man
@midtown5757
enjoying a post-dinner cigar. New to the menu, chicken and eggplant. Lightly breaded eggplant over a grilled chicken cutlet with a light tomato sauce. Absolutely amazing.
The more I am out here the more I realize there are fewer better times than those spent at the racetrack and the backstretch. I knew I couldn't do it on a daily basis at a young age but it's really what made me fall in love with our great game.
Never been more proud to say I work in horse racing. Thanks to all the horsewomen and men who helped us race today and all my hard-working colleagues
@TheNYRA
. So far, 7 riders and 8 trainers have won a race. Glad $$$ was spread around. Let's finish up strong!

On the porch, handicapping, minding my own business when a guy drives by and yells.....
"Hey Big A,
@andyserling
is the man! Hometown guy!"
Welcome to Saratoga
"Whitmore is everything that is great about horse racing," is what Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen said about the hard knocking, seven-year-old on
@HRRN
yesterday. I couldn't agree more. Congrats to
@RonMoquett
and his connections. True Oaklawn Park racing royalty!!!

Annual Christmas shopping day with Mom. A couple of malls capped off by a visit to Johnny Rockets. Dean Martin on the radio. Been doing this over 20 years. One of my favorite days of the year!!!
My summer residency
@YonkersRaceway
begins tonight.
I'll be there each and every Thursday and Friday in July and August with some other dates sprinkled in as well.
Post time is 7PM!!!
