I’m sorry, the city of Philadelphia can’t drop teargas from helicopters on peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters and at the same time protect groups of bat-wielding white men who are assaulting people and not expect us to demand a complete reform of policing in this city.
White people in Philly: If a mural depicting Black people goes up in your neighborhood and your first reaction is to feel that it doesn’t belong there, you are part of the problem. Investigate those feelings, because you are absolutely taking that bias into your daily life.
I really don’t think The City is prepared for how much people rely on that Barnes & Noble Rittenhouse Square public restroom. Is there any plan, or are people just gonna have to rely on the generosity of all the restaurants in Rittenhouse?
Absolutely LOVE this series, the Mayor of Boston
@wutrain
is taking public transit with different residents to learn about their commutes and how to make the systems/city work better for people!

Notice how
@AOC
came to Philly and promoted our public art. This is what we’re known for. This is what separates us from every other city in the country/world. The artists in this city deserve so much more support and funding.
Anyone else in Philly feel like the “Avenue of the Arts” should have more...art?
More public art, more sculptures and monuments, more murals. It’s really just a glorified highway right now.
Someone call me, I know a lot of great artists!
I’m in the

today, y’all!

This is surreal. I’m so incredibly honored to have this recognition, but most importantly to do the work I do in this incredible city with the amazing people I have around me.
Enormous thanks to

I have lived in Philadelphia for 567 years and to this day I have absolutely no idea what lane to be in or what move to make when I am driving up Spring Garden and reach the parkway/ the oval/ the PMA.
Just passed a South Philly dive bar playing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind on their TVs at 4 PM on Valentine’s Day, and I can’t think of anything more iconic.
I was 16 when I got my job at Old Navy at the Gallery. I worked there for 3 years until I was (lol) fired at 19 for being late...
Today, the space reopened as Fashion District, and I curated 10 murals for it. Can't tell you what a surreal moment this is.
Imagine walking the streets around NYC’s Madison Square Garden at literally any time of day or night and thinking, ‘Damn, this is JUST what Philly is missing.’
76 Place is a corny idea being promoted by people who have a lot of money and who stand to earn even more if built.
And just like that, Philly has a new public art landmark! Here's everything we know about artist Miguel Antonio Horn's "Contrafuerte," installed this week on Cuthbert Street in Center City:
1) How is the best solution to give younger Philadelphians even less options for things to do?
2) How is this even enforceable? Bouncers at every entrance checking IDs? A line to get in?
3) Imagine being a 22-year-old not being able to take younger family members shopping. 🤯
OMG: Philly kids have started painting, drawling, and chalking rainbows on and around their homes as a sign of togetherness during our city’s Coronavirus quarantine! ❤️🌈
Imagine Dîner en Blanc but instead of paying $100+ for tickets to sit in a public space, you just make extra food and bring a few extra seats/tables to dine and share with people in Philly experiencing homelessness and families with food insecurity. No dress code required.
What an exciting time to be living in Philly, trust the process y’all...

Really helpful insight this morning from
@nickdrom
, who went viral across social media for helping people better understand industrial disasters after East Palestine.
Part 1 of 2:
The Schuylkill from the top of the Philly’s skyline. Zoom in, there’s so much to see!
Like, where is that nuclear power plant? How did I not know there was one so close to Philly?!
Imagine running the 5th largest city in the U.S. and being afraid to make one street safer. Like, this is basic stuff. We shouldn't have to fight so hard for common sense.
Our next mayor and their administration better be bold, visionary, and actually do shit for the people.
While we’re all here, SEPTA should be roundly criticized for completely dismissing folks who need elevators to use public transit with this shitty decision:
Tonight I had the privilege of giving

a tour of Philly public art, starting with our

Several guns, bats and sticks carried by white vigilantes here at Columbus square in South Philly to “protect” the Columbus statue. Police have been visibly quite friendly with this group
Supporters waiting at a Trump rally in NE Philadelphia to see
@RudyGiuliani
. The event was originally supposed to have been held at 2300 Arena, a larger space in South Philadelphia. Reportedly the owners of the original space canceled at the last minute

First, I hope Kelly is ok.
But second, every pedestrian in Philly knows this. The design of our streets and the lack of parking enforcements make moving around the city dangerous. People in cars just do whatever they want, and everyone else has to stay super vigilant or else.
Philadelphia 76ers guard Kelly Oubre Jr. was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in Center City, Philadelphia tonight and is receiving treatment at a local hospital, a Sixers spokesman tells ESPN. Oubre Jr., is currently in stable condition.
An incredible new monument to a failing for-profit healthcare system just popped up at Broad and Vine streets in Philadelphia...
Absolutely LOVE this action from Hahnemann staff:
Disney is pulling the plug on a nearly $1 billion development planned for Orlando, Florida, the company said on Thursday, as it feuds with Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Or, and this is just a start…
-Eliminate all turns on red
-Road diets to slow traffic
-Pedestrian bump-outs at all intersections
-Protected bike lanes
-Regulate how gigantic lifted trucks can be
-Force developers to create pedestrian passthroughs next to all construction sites
We’re back with more pedestrian info to wrap up Highway Safety Law Awareness Week. Here are some additional tips to stay safe as you’re walking outside.

Philly: If shoveling snow is something you can do, please remember to shovel any of your neighbors’ sidewalks who might not be able to because of age other conditions. The younger folks next to my mom just did this for her, and she’s so grateful! ❤️❄️
If you’re not part of Philly’s LGBTQ+ community and don’t understand how critical William Way is to us, just trust me. It is. It’s vital. We need it thriving.

More than 800 restaurants citywide once operated "streeteries." But under the new regulatory system, the city has only granted licenses to 13 restaurants from a pool of 118 applicants.
The scars that the current
@philamuseum
leadership are leaving on that museum make it hard for me to imagine that any living artist or artist foundation would ever want to work with them. They have been so nasty in these negotiations with their workers. Artists won’t forget this.
