If porn is supposedly setting up men to have unrealistic expectations of women and sex, then do romance novels (and, to some degree, romcoms) have a similar effect on women whereby they develop unrealistic expectations of men and relationships?

Some takeaways after my conversation with a hospice nurse of 12 years based on her experience: 1) Many people will not pass away unless they feel ready and this can sometimes mean getting their hair washed, being shaved, or having a bowel movement.

She wanted to walk with these people and give them dignity. She said our culture wants to ignore death, all of us pretending we will never die, but it's all so natural and being there for people is beautiful. She is an angel on Earth (last sentence is my opinion).

When I was a feminist I didn't understand: "feminists destroy the family." Science progressed. I worked 70+ hr weeks, checking experiments at 3 am, in lab at Christmas.... My friends had children. Now they have families and I have publications. Don't make my mistake.

If you find this thread depressing, it's because you haven't yet fully comprehended this experience of life. The immense blessings and miracles that surround us, the joyful sorrow that is purely out of love. Depression is without hope. That is not what death is.

When men say they prefer their wives take time off for raising young children, they are essentially saying: 1) Motherhood is more important than a job 2) Nobody can do the job better than you 3) Your undivided attention is beneficial for our children None of this is sexist.

Even though my baby will pass shortly after birth, there are a few people who seem insistent on sharing with me that she'll only suffer and so I'm better off aborting, as if ripping her limbs apart and crushing her in my womb will somehow minimize her suffering.

I used to be utterly confused by the concept of arranged marriages, but now I get it. Marriages seem to require an alignment of values & familial traditions, so that children are raised in stability. This is not always the vision of the infatuated & impassioned youth.

"You can be anything you want." No, no you can't. Can we stop telling kids this and instead teach them how to live successfully, honorably, and joyously within the bounds of their biology and abilities? Seems that's a much better option.

1) My brother got a girl pregnant when he was 19. We all wanted her to abort, please! This was clearly horrible. She didn't. My niece, now 17, is a shining light in this world. Her smile & presence lights up everyone around her. It's amazing. The hindsight on this is palpable.

Just as men are realizing porn is harmful, likewise women are realizing that promiscuity is harmful. Both got sucked into a narrative that said it was okay and *totally normal*. But people realize things and change as they grow. That's the point of growth.

Guys on this app really think women lose all their fertility at 30. They really need to go touch grass. Probably 90% of the families I know has a mom who gave birth well into her 30s.

Does everyone have a life event that changes them so much and rocks their very being to the core that everything before this event becomes "the before times" in their mind. Like there becomes a line where you were one person before the event and another after. Does everyone have…

Girls have been dancing and acting goofy with their friends for all of time. They are light-hearted and having fun. This is universal, even if it looks different in other cultures or time periods... it's the same energy. Get a grip.

@HazelAppleyard_ The amount of broken families that are to be produced by the "love is love" movement is going to be unfathomable.

I think about the conversation I had with a mom of 9 at the park where she said it gets so much easier after 3 kids because they can help and play with each other and then I see this from Ballerina Farm and it's like "oh ok" they can rock the baby and make lunch! Maybe all this…

Women need to stop being surrogates for gay men. You are making money from selling a baby to people who think mothers are disposable. It's not for the best interest of the child, but for what adult men want. Please stop.

Since many of you have asked, baby girl did make it through the birth alive and has been home with us now for over a week! We are taking it all one day at a time and staying as present as possible. "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!"
