Ian Happ this weekend: 0/11
Cody Bellinger this weekend: 1/11
Christopher Morel this weekend : 0/12
Cubs: 2-1.
That's AWESOME. Winning when you aren't at your best
I'll say it again. If the Cubs don't make the postseason, it's because of the obsession with playing guys who don't belong to play. You're playing against yourself. The Brewers would never run him out there like this.
I still can't get over the owner of the Chicago Cubs citing the 84 win Arizona Diamondbacks as the example for why they don't have to spend a lot. Man, is that hard to ignore.
Not sure I can remember one player costing a team this many games this early on. He came into a perfect spot. Nobody on 1 out two righties and he didn’t even come close to getting the job done
Shota Imanaga, Jameson Taillon, and Javier Assad have "triple" handily kept the Cubs in a good position with everything else that has gone. Kudos to those men.
Here’s my predictions for the remaining free agents
Bellinger = Dodgers
Imanaga= Dodgers
Snell= Dodgers
Montgomery=Dodgers
Chapman= Dodgers
Olbur= No More Sports
I really enjoy Mike Tauchman. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but I would argue he is overqualified as a 4th outfielder and I am really glad he's on our club.
Trey Mancini, Edwin Rios, Eric Hosmer and Luis Torrens all made the opening day roster and are no longer with the org. If the Cubs don't complete this magical second half run, that's where we will look. THIS is their best roster but it shouldn't take 100+ games to figure it out.
BREAKING: Centerfielder Cody Bellinger and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a three-year, $80 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Bellinger will receive opt-outs after each of the first two years of the deal. Bellinger, 28, returns to the Cubs after a prolonged free agency.
Free Agent Signings this season so far by Jed Hoyer
Cody Bellinger A+
Dansby A- (the defense is insane)
Trey Mancini D
Jameson Taillon D+/C- (I think he'll be fine)
Eric Hosmer F
Tucker Barnhart F
Michael Fulmer F
Brad Boxberger F
The Cubs have lost 26 of their last 38 games in a year they thought they would compete. That type of stretch should cause major IN SEASON change regardless of who's fault it is. They're lifeless. This is professional sports.
I don’t care how good he is at his job… Scott Boras has the reigning cy young award winner, a former mvp who had a career resurgence, and the best pitcher in last years playoffs ALL UNSIGNED IN MID FEB. That wasn’t the plan trust me
If Tauchman is in CF and belli at first, the Cubs are winning right now. It's not hard. Wisdoms bat is NOT worth sitting Tauchman for what you lose EVERYWHERE ELSE! You're going to PH for him this time around anyway. STOP BEING STUBBORN
If your top 2 starters are all stars, and you have by far the best run differential in your division, you should be better than 5 under. Screams out mis managed roster, lineups etc to me. Especially if you watch regularly
Merryweather hurt, Neris stuff is FLAT, Alzolay stuff is FLAT, Almonte has been terrible, Cuas is an AAA pitcher, Little is too young to trust in leverage.
First loss in a good long while that will stick with me. I'm really upset. They lost this because of bad managing. Everywhere you look. Even Happ getting that ab instead of Bellinger because the BATTING ORDER IS WRONG.
I'm not seeing the whole "Sam they're playing ATL now it's a completely different class they have no chance" comments on my page anymore. The Cubs are real. Are they as good as this team? Of course not. But they're real.
Since April 5th, Dansby Swanson and Ian Happ are 29/159 for a 182 batting average. Then, take out Seiya and Belli and it's not hard to figure out why this team is struggling to score. Need those guys.
The Cubs are 0-8 in Justin Steeles last 8 starts. In 4 of those 8 starts he's given up 5ER or more. He will be just fine. But that is a wild stat. Very frustrating one tonight.
Cubs are going to need more from their catchers.
Amaya: 197/267/303
Gomes 188/188/271.
Nobody is expecting great performances but we need them to be more than a pitcher hitting.
Stroman went from "I can't believe the Cubs aren't extending him" to very lucky he has an opt in at the end of the year. That's why you let the year play out. His ERA is now 3.87

Tommy was literally the Vegas underdog and got destroyed on the internet for 2 years because people thought he was scared. Seems pretty obvious why he was happy lol
The worst part of this is I had a feeling he would homer which is why I wanted to do this but I meant SOMEONE not anyone. Because of my error, I will pick 2 Winners not one.
Cubbies are hot which means it's GIVEAWAY TIME. If Seiya Suzuki hits a home run today, I will give 1 (ONE) person who RTS this two free Cubs tickets to a game of their choice. Again, thats ONE person 😂😂😂. Will have the total checked and final at first pitch. Get hot, Seiya!
The Cubs have 28 million dollars in 2023 invested in Taillon fulmer and mancini. Coming into tonight, they were worth a combined -2 WAR. It’s probably around -2.3 now. In other words, if you paid league minimum for AAA guys at each position, you’d be WAY better.
It's almost like when you can make your team better, you do it. We just lost our ace for an extended period of time and Jordan Montgomery is a Diamondback
I tried to compliment Ross earlier in the day and then he put out a lineup that made no sense, sat on his hands all night with an ump costing us the game, and brought in Wesneski to face two lefties with a day off tmrw.
Assuming this score holds, Alzolay (used as a closer most of the year) will have appeared in 14 games (almost all of them with a lead) and the cubs will have lost 6 of those games. That’s almost impossible. Like Jose Cuas wouldn’t be at that level.
