The Cubs are 0-8 in Justin Steeles last 8 starts. In 4 of those 8 starts he's given up 5ER or more. He will be just fine. But that is a wild stat. Very frustrating one tonight.
@SamOlbur
Based on what? He had 4-5 months of elite pitching? 8-11 record before last year. The league figures guys out and exploits their weaknesses. If he had a longer track record it would be easier to give him the benefit of the doubt but you can’t rule out him being just average.
@SamOlbur
Madrigal should never see the field again. IL Nico or whatever, but get Vazquez up here and give him a chance. Love what mastro has been doing, but you can’t do this with madrigal at 2B for another week+
@SamOlbur
It just feels like the cubs haven’t been able to get their offense / starting pitching and bullpen all on the same page for a game. Yesterday against the Braves was the exception. At best they get 2/3. Today was the rare instance it was the starter that was the problem.
@SamOlbur
Gotta think about dfa’ing him. He had a half a good year. Hes blocking so many good players. This is hoyers fault. He should’ve spend more on the bullpen.
@SamOlbur
I wish I felt the same way you do Sam, but with the way he ended up last year and so far this year I’m very concerned. He has become a two pitch pitcher and the league has caught on to him. I need convincing before jumping on his bandwagon again.
@SamOlbur
Steele was lucky last year. He is proving to be a bad pitcher. He loves to give up home runs. He doesn’t realize he stinks. At least they found out he is no good before giving him an extension.
@SamOlbur
I noticed a big slide when Steele hit his record innings pitched. He was taxed. I believe he reached that number in August. I’m optimistic he’ll get right.
@SamOlbur
Not sure he will be just fine...I fear he is back tracking to his actual level...1 good year doesn't guarantee you will be good for many years to come especially when you are not a power pitcher and pitch to contact
