Correction. She wasn’t consuming. Financing and procuring for Sushant. So in that case if he was alive he would’ve been put behind bars too ? Oh no. She must’ve forced the drugs onto him. Sushant must’ve been force fed marijuana. Yes that’s what it is exactly. We did it guys 🙌🏼
Might be a good time to reflect on the Mean Girls culture your show perpetuates. What is the message you send with Qs like "Which of these actors is giving the 'A-listers' competition?" or asking guests to rank the same set of actors belonging to your privileged coterie?
I’m an Indian student studying at Harvard, but I‘m embarrassed by the Indian media making this about *Indian students*. This is a larger issue that affects ALL international students. Let’s take a broader view please, and stop making everything about our narrow interests.
Harvard and MIT come out in support of international students and say that the ICE action has been taken without giving any notice. Will this ensure the much needed relief for the Indian students studying in these universities?
I don’t know who needs to hear this but it is so important that children play with other children - it teaches them collaboration, helps cultivate empathy, and enables them to be socially well-adjusted.

It’s a few hours before Election Day in the US, and the Indian Prime Minister hasn’t made any surprise announcement about demonetisation. I already feel more positive about this week this year than I did four years ago.
Here are some other economists you could have considered: Gita Gopinath, Indira Rajaraman, Shamika Ravi, Pranjul Bhandari, Ila Patnaik. And some business leaders: Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Naina Lal Kidwai, Rekha Menon.
Not that hard to *not* have a manel.
Here’s the problem - such reporting makes it seem like it’s a policy targeted *specifically* at Indians (or an India-US issue), missing the actual incentives & implications. And there’s a real failure to collaborate with other affected countries, in what is a more global issue.
Actually, people switching parties sums up a lot of what’s wrong with Indian politics right now. No one really believes in any ideology, stands by any core principles, or has any policy ideas. It’s just about finding some way to stay in (or close to) power.
#IndiaElects

5) Perhaps most importantly, some of these allegations might seem like they lack evidence and need to be substantiated. But don't kill the larger movement - the pendulum probably needs to swing in the other direction after centuries of abuse of power/privilege. [6/6]

BJP/RSS believe the freedom of expression must be policed & controlled. I believe this freedom is a fundamental democratic right.

Much is said about how the male actors have the more secure careers. But the past few weeks have proven that, despite that, it's the female actors who have the spines.

As Roberto Unger once said at a Harvard event: “there was a time when economists cared about issues like economic transformation and nation building. Now they’re more concerned about mosquito nets and malaria. Intellectual catastrophe.”
Development economics has gradually become dominated by the idea that 'microinterventions' will solve global poverty. It's a dangerous idea because, well, it doesn't solve global poverty.
In this article in the FT, David Pilling (

I see this argument from many Congress party leaders, but: 1) where even is this "unity"? Leaders have been leaving the party for ~10 years, 2) what on earth is the point of being united when you neither have a positive vision to sell nor are able to win anything?

One of the biggest problems in India at the moment is that people think "democracy" is limited to the right to vote and elect a government into power, but not to critique/question it.
One of the biggest problems in

How can we expand productive employment in services? In our new paper,
@rodrikdani
& I draw on a range of existing programs & present 4 broad strategies: large firms, SMEs, tech tools to complement low-skill labor, and training and wraparound services
I find this logic silly. This thinking may have been valid some decades ago, but in a globalized world where content is accessed across national borders, does it still mean anything? For instance, Twitter is a global platform, so are we ambassadors of our countries here too?
Really sorry! but demeaning and deriding your country on foreign shores is not my idea of desh bhakti / humour / comedic act / or anything else.

🧵 Building the capacity of the state is very important. But we must clarify what this means (hint: it does NOT mean "training"). And the state still needs to partner effectively with non-government actors to deliver public services. But who should it partner with? And how? (1/n)
@teevrat
In my India experience this mostly reflects very low capacity within government. Consulting firms offer senior management in govt a *combination* of services from grunt work to "expert" analysis, which academics cannot. Displacing them requires improving the quality of govt staff

Also, speaking as an alum, don't mistake a statement from a set of student groups to represent the views of the student body. The truth is that students in a large university are just not coordinated enough or engaged in the statements that leaders of some groups write or sign.
Good to see the Harvard leadership taking a clear stance after that drivel from a bunch of student groups: "While our students have the right to speak for themselves, no student group — not even 30 student groups — speaks for Harvard University or its leadership."
