The irony! Climate champion standing in support of farming practices that have led to poisoned land, vanishing water-table and the “cancer trains”. India can definitely do better. India is trying to do better by bringing in long awaited farm reforms. Pls don’t muddy the waters.
Changes to the Essential Commodities Act & the Agriculture Produce Markets Committee (APMC) - these structural reforms have been long overdue. They free the Indian farmers and are critical for growth of agri sector. Should have happened decades ago. Don't be fooled by politics.

So yesterday was election day for class representatives at kid’s school. Son contested (!), got 30% votes (!!) but lost. Dinner time conversation:

Son: X won. She got most votes.
Me: She must be good…
Son: yeah she is very good, even I voted for her!

Why are India’s farmers protesting? The government tried to change the decades-old agriculture laws and that’s when the manure hit the fan.

Solution to COVID situation in MH cannot be - "But GJ is worse."
1) Case load: 36% (MH) vs. 10% (GJ)
2) New cases: 2500 (MH) vs. 400 (GJ)
3) Death/million: 13.89 (MH) vs. 13.93 (GJ)
4) Cases/100 tests: 13.25% (MH) vs. 7.76%(GJ)
Situation is bad in GJ too, but MH is worse. Focus!

Sorry Kiran, this makes no sense. Maharashtra has infection prevalence rate (by testing)of 11% (highest by far) & it’s only been increasing over time! So they are way behind in testing compared to all other states, they need to test MUCH more! I’m wondering what
@WHO
has in mind.
Maharashtra’s aggressive testing rates appreciated by WHO. This vindicates
@mybmc
approach of not suppressing numbers by not testing. States who have low testing rates r likely to see numbers surge n peak later.
This from

experience for India:
1) Having a scientific temperament - the only way to outsmart this virus.
2) Perspective is crucial: NZ (50L) similar in size to Tripura (40L), Total cases (NZ:1154 vs TR:963), Deaths (NZ:22 vs TR:1)

66 % say income decreased during COVID times, 19 % say they lost jobs. And yet 67% say central govt has handled economic fallout of the pandemic well. Slightly baffling but then that’s what the poll says. Faith in govt remains high.
