Ass Dean (not THAT Ass Dean). Focus on Chinese politics & Texas politics. RT≠Endorsement
A lot of my students asked me how today’s events would be viewed internationally. I told them that much of the world is likely quite concerned, if not frightened, by the prospect of a nuclear superpower with a rogue president encouraging his supporters to engage in insurrection.
Howdy, y’all! Now that the academic year has ended, time for some personal news: I will be moving to UT-San Antonio (
@UTSA
) in August to become the Chair of the Department of Political Science & Geography (
@UTSA_DPSG
) w/the rank of Professor of Political Science... 😎🤙🏻

If you haven't been following by him now, please check out Professor Mittelstaedt and give him a follow on Twitter. His thread on Jiang Zemin has been phenomenal. His excerpts from Jiang’s speeches show a clear continuity in Party discourse from Jiang to Xi.
Jiang Zemin in February 2002: "Foreign companies primarily consider their economic interests when deciding to engage in exchanges and cooperation [with China]. While political factors also play a role, the ultimate decision for businesses is based on profitability"
Was told today that Texas CD-23 candidate

I thank God every day that she didn't run away in a panic at the prospect of marrying a goofy, hyperactive political science professor. 😉 ❤️

I was teaching a course on Internet and Politics. We watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center on a CNN live feed in class. After the shock wore off, I comforted students, immediately ended class, and told everyone to head for home...
It’s time for Round 2 of

These accomplished and barrier-breaking individuals will focus on implementing policies, working with Congress, and communicating with the American people about how the administration will build our nation back better than before.

No. I learned it from my grandmother. My great grandfather was an oil executive in Tulsa. They lived in the Woodward Park neighborhood on Terwilliger. She told me about seeing smoke from the fires to their north, the warnings to stay inside, and the horror stories that emerged.
The

You mean the part where I went to segregated schools until 7th grade and witnessing riots when we desegregated? Watching the news as a kid about the MLK and RFK’s assassinations, massive student protests, Vietnam, and Watergate? Yeah. Sure. Life felt so simple and easy…
Do you remember when you were growing up, do you remember how simple life was, how easy it felt? It was about faith, family, and country. We can have that again, but to do that, we must vote Joe Biden out.
