I had to give a short talk in New Brunswick NJ (Rutgers) today. Left the house at 8:30 - got there at noon. (Septa and NJT) Only 51 miles - average of 20 miles per hour. Shinkansen in Japan would have been 10 minutes. We failed public transit. Actual train speed…

The new bike path along Delaware Ave is a game changer. Before it I had been to Fishtown 5 times in 18 years, now I’ve been there 5 times in the past week. Nice neighborhood! It’s like Philly just doubled in size mentally just because of good safe infrastructure!

If you live on the east side of broad - and even if not - you should stop by the garden of Pennsylvania Hospital at 8th and Spruce. The garden there - largely hidden behind a brick wall which is accessible from dawn to dusk - is a gem. Stop by!
