You might think Charles is fancy having the crown sent in it’s own car but lemme tell you… I was sectioned and the 136 suite didn’t put my pants back in my bag, so I arrived at the ward without them. So they had my pants sent to the ward (40 miles away) in their own taxi

Had a much more helpful visit from the crisis team. They brought some food for me and ran me a bath. Then changed my bedding for me while I had a wash for the first time in about a week. Sometimes practical help and small acts of kindness make all the difference

Why do people have to die before the NHS admit even a hint of wrong doing? You make a complaint after neglect or abuse during an inpatient admission and it’s ‘sorry you feel that way’ But when someone dies: ‘lessons will be learnt’* How about learning lessons while we’re alive?

@alirobson97 Have you got a cptsd diagnosis? Or a PTSD diagnosis? Because as long as there are no more than 3 trauma’s they should still work with you. IAPT guidelines for EMDR is a max of 3 trauma’s. And no PD diagnosis xx

Ive never been on a PICU but I have been detained for weeks or months at a time on an acute ward. There are whole weeks that are a blur. I read notes or things I wrote or said I did and have no recollection. It’s such a disorienting experience, especially the first few of weeks

I got sectioned and during the same time a friend’s family member didn’t get their cat fixed and she had kittens. Seeing updates of the kittens got me through I’ve always wanted a cat so two weeks after being discharged Gwen came home and has saved my life multiple times since

For years we’ve been told it’s we as patients that lack resilience and that’s why we’re ill. Even NHS staff have been told they’re the problem because THEY lack resilience. This pandemic has laid bare that it’s the system that lacks resilience. We were never the problem.

Compassion fatigue, staff anxiety, burn out, lack of training and stress from working within a broken system are not the reason mental health professionals treat patients given the PD label appallingly, sometimes with fatal results. It’s because they’re abusive.

@suzypuss @elysiumcare I left in floods of tears. It was so painful to hear, but even more painful to know that 14 people are under their ‘care’. They even told me their prosecution policy. If someone gets injured during a restraint or incident they will in no uncertain terms pursue prosecution.…

Currently seeing the crisis team and they are unbearable. Today the woman went on about how thin i was this time last year and how well i look now. Must be eating really well, she said. Fyi: never say this to someone with anorexia

So if you’re a mental health professional with lived experience maybe ask yourself: Who do you centre when you talk about lived experience? Is it your own voice? Do you ever talk to grassroots groups, campaigns or networks? Does your involvement require a fanfare? Why?

I think this tweet incapsulates so much of what's wrong with mental health services approach to PD. They are more concerned with how it 'looks' rather than addressing prejudice. They want to call it a 'complex emotional needs' pathway, make it more palatable. 1/4

I have noticed one MH Trust has started to refer to all their inpatients as ‘service leaders’. If I am sectioned in hospital I am hardly leading on my own care. ‘Leader’ suggests power which patients don’t have... its deceitful

What about autism you might ask? Dw, they have it covered, going to pains to suggest that ‘neurodiversity’ can *co occur* with complex emotional needs aka PD So while you wait 5 years for that autism assessment (if you’re lucky) you can be neglected in primary care 🥲
