My name is Molly Cook. I'm a Democrat, ER nurse, and community organizer running for Texas Senate, District 15. I am sick of seeing my patients suffer preventable harm as a direct result of bad policy. Help us send a nurse to the Texas Senate. We don't have any more time to wait.
I’ll say it every day: Houston should be the most bikable city in the US.
It’s flat. It’s temperate. It almost never snows.
All we’ve been missing is political will.
Lots of new faces here. My name is Molly Cook. I’m an ER Nurse and a Community Organizer.
I’m running for Texas Senate District 15 because I am tired of watching my patients suffer and die from bad policy.
Like and RT to help us fight for a Texas by the people, not lobbyists!
1/2 I have been a nurse for ten years. Today, I work a twelve hour shift from 7am to 7pm. I am done with seeing my patients die because Republicans in Austin are pushing policies that kill people. No one will fight harder than me because I have seen the human cost up close.
I am joyfully indebted to everyone who brought home Saturday’s win. We are not missing a beat or taking anything for granted. I am grateful to live my life in service to the health & safety of my neighbors. See y’all on the 28th?
Love & optimism,
Sen-Elect Molly Cook (she/her)
I appreciate
@houmayor
words this morning. I really do. But the NRA Convention needs to be cancelled. Call on
@HoustonTX
and
@HoustonFirst
to cancel the event and eat the cost. It takes a lot of work and social pressure to rip up a culture of fear and violence.
3 things to do:
I’ve learned a lot this year, but one thing hasn’t changed: I want to serve Senate District 15 and fight year round for smart, compassionate policy to improve public safety and public health. I’m Molly Cook, and I’m running for Texas Senate, District 15.
Taking public transit to work
1. Is cheaper and safer than driving
2. Means I can read news and social media
3. Makes me feel like I’m apart of something bigger than myself
1/Reports of financial duplicity and firings of dedicated staff at HISD are deeply concerning. I support
@HFT2415
in their call for a third party investigation now. The TEA needs to leave HISD, and Greg Abbott must stop holding public school funding hostage for his voucher scam.
1/ Today is the 49th anniversary of
#RoeVWade
. In 2014, I had an abortion. It was one of the most difficult experiences of my life; it shouldn't have been.
I'm sharing my story so my community and future constituents know they are not alone. That I see them and love them. 🧵
While Texas schools struggle with a huge budget deficits,
@SpectrumNews1TX
has discovered that millions of Texas education tax dollars are being diverted out of state to the series of charter schools founded by
#HISD
’s state appointed Supt. Mike Miles.
Still waiting for final results. You will hear from the team when we do. For now, the Molly for Texas crew is resting, working their other jobs, and BEAMING with pride.
I feel powerful, deeply connected, and very Texan. Good job, y’all.
I am shattered and remade by the love and dedication of this campaign’s staff, volunteers, donors, and coalition of support. Every day I wake up, call Texas home, and link arms with the finest people I have ever known. Election Day is tomorrow. My heart is bursting with pride.
THRILLED to be on a bus with my best friends headed to Austin to fight for meaningful change to Texas transportation policy. Maybe one day we’ll be able to take a train.
@StopTxDOTi45
As a Texas woman, I am thrilled to be a favorably endorsed candidate by
@MomsAGAbbott
. Mothers Against Greg Abbott began as a one-woman protest and became an overnight movement galvanizing women across Texas and America. I will be proud to organize and fight alongside them!
I am ready to go to the Texas Senate & fight for every Texan's right to a safe, legal abortion. I will fight for incremental and revolutionary change to policies concerning abortions, bodily autonomy, & reproductive healthcare. Send me to the Senate, & I will fight for you.
Thank you all for your support. I am so proud of what we accomplished. I am more in love with Texas every single day. I’m not going anywhere. See y’all soon.
You can also read my letter on our website at .
It’s been 47 hours since the shooter was taken down. 15,641 people have signed a petition, and 22 orgs have signed onto a letter asking for
@houmayor
and
@HoustonFirst
to cancel NRA Convention. And counting.
Just BURST out of the bus with three other people to run flat out with our backpacks and coffees to catch the approaching train. I am cackling. Public transportation is a team sport, and we are all winners.
Headed to an event, and as my sister always says, why would I drive when I can take the giant car that’s already going that way anyway?
Much ♥️ to
@LINK_Houston
@METROHouston
Gave a little interview that should air on
@abc13houston
this weekend about our TWO elections coming up! I will be the ONLY Democrat member of the Harris County delegation at the state or federal level with a background in healthcare. That voice is missing and sorely needed.
Y’all know that I’m about the work. Let’s gather this Thursday—in district—to make history together, give our district representation, make this win official, and keep it moving to get out the vote for the Runoff on May 28.
WE DID IT, Y’ALL!! Phase one officially complete! And the team still loves each other, and we ARE SO READY FOR PHASE TWO!!
I could not be more grateful/proud to be a part of this groundbreaking, grassroots effort fighting for effective regional cooperation.
BIG NEWS: We just got the call from the Houston City Secretary that our signatures are approved!
Once an ordinance is passed by City Council, we will be officially on the ballot this November! Get ready, y'all! It's time for fair representation for Houston!
During the
#TexasFreeze
I stayed at a hotel in the Med Center to be sure we’d be staffed at the ER. After, I went straight to help with mutual aid distribution. As temps drop, it could happen again, in part bc my opponent “didn’t pay close enough attention.” We deserve better.
This is a big deal. Thank you
@HoustonCVPE
I am a public school kinda gal fighting for a Texas where the school down the street is so high quality, that all other options seem cost prohibitive.
My opponent is a career politician, who is running for two offices at once. He doesn’t want to serve the full term. I do. He isn’t focused on the district. I am.
I’m ready to be the first woman ever in this seat.
Help us win. Donate today.
I need reporters talking about roadway expansions to include SOMETHING about the well-documented FACT that wider highways result in worse traffic congestion. It’s not up for debate. We are looking real foolish in Houston, and we have limited time to make needed policy changes.
Got a jog in and made it to the polls to vote in the city council runoffs. Voting took less than 9 minutes. Your vote counts even more than usual right now! Go to for polling locations and hours of operation. Happy voting, y’all!
I am proudly endorsed for Texas Senate District 15 by so many amazing organization. Let's bring some nursing care and organizing fight to the Texas Senate.
Super proud of
@MollyforTexas
&
@juliejohnsonTX
for winning their races.
But let’s get something correct they are the first openly LGBTQ+ elected for their offices. Barbara Jordan was the FIRST, let’s not further contribute to black queer erasure.
Texans overwhelmingly (69%) support Medicaid expansion—especially if they earn low incomes (80%), report poor health (82%), or are uninsured and under the age of 65 (80%).
These are my patients. I am fighting for them. And I’m gonna fight like I have nothing to lose.
3 years ago to this day, I met
@allysmither
. Tonight we are celebrating a tremendous success for grassroots organizing, for democracy, and for public health with our
@FairforHouston
teammates. Thank y’all for Voting Yes on Prop B.
If you come by Poe Elementary be sure to say hello to my amazing Dad, Mark! He’s out all day to help get me to the Texas Senate and I am so grateful!
#GoCoogs
I just want to reiterate that “advocates,” “opponents,” & “critics of the I-45 Expansion,” in fact, did not first say that the project “displaces X number” or “disproportionately harms Black and Hispanic communities.”
THOSE ARE QUOTES FROM
@TxDOT
HERSELF.
I met the incumbent in person today while HC Young Dems were deliberating about us. I asked him a question about I-45, but he wouldn’t respond. Then he sat as far as humanly possible away from me for the remaining 5 minutes.
My name is Molly Cook. I am an ER nurse and community organizer. I want to be your senator because I am ready to fight like I have nothing to lose for our rights in the Senate. We don’t have time for complacency.
I am ready to be your state senator. Vote for Molly Cook March 1.
I was not born a freeway expansion fighter. My dad commuted over an hour every day by car from our home in the north Houston suburbs to work in oil and gas. I didn’t learn the truth about freeways until I was in public health school. 1/8
It’s official. We’re on the ballot.
I chose the first available time slot to file to run for Texas Senate District 15 because I never stopped running for it.
Wow. I am so impressed and thankful for the City of Houston’s level of organization and care during this moment of response and recovery. We made personal calls to residents on the emergency assistance registry and learned new ways to improve emergency response in our region.
So grateful to gather and learn about successful organizing and political advocacy in other communities that ended state takeovers and saved public education. First pic is just a couple of nurses who know that public education is the key to health and safety in our communities.
None of my opponent’s signs mention that he is running for Houston Mayor. He’ll spend the 88th lege session campaigning instead of fighting for our voting and abortion rights. We have too much to lose for our state Senator to be more focused on power than the people.
Last year, I ran for Texas Senate to fight for our shared Democratic values. Since then, I’ve been working at the ER, organizing for transportation justice and the Fair for Houston campaign, advocating at the Capitol, and sharing info and learning from neighbors in SD 15.
After the only other passengers hopped off, the bus driver asked me, “you get off at ____ stop, right?”
We talked and related about our pandemic experience as workers, but her just knowing my stop made me feel seen, cared for, and very at home.
I have been running for this seat for two years, and it is the privilege of a lifetime.
Tied for first with 12 days to go.
Let’s lock it down, y’all.

"UH deserves some respect. It deserves an endowment that it, no doubt, earned the hard way."
@UHouston
serves over 47k students, offers 276 undergrad/grad programs & is home to 36 research centers. Imagine UH’s potential w/ access to resources A&M/UT have.
Cannabis should be legal. Criminalization of this plant disproportionately harms young black men and other people of color.
The evidence is overwhelming: decriminalize and legalize cannabis use.
This one hits, y’all. Nurses and teachers are powerful, and we stick together. Huge thank you to the
@HFT2415
for your endorsement and support. My teachers and my public education made me who I am. Let’s go take our state back.
If you think there isn’t still time to improve, or even STOP this project, then you are playing by TxDOT’s rules. Freeways across this nation get stopped beyond detailed design phases.

It’s Election Day!! Go to

I started wearing a rainbow badge holder years ago. I was hoping it could be a little signal to patients that I’m a safe space—that I can be trusted. 1/5
As our rights are torn away, health outcomes are compromised, and our Democracy feels more and more precarious, Senate District 15 needs a trustworthy and committed fighter at the Texas Capitol. That is why I chose to tell my story.
@BRCampaigns
We have TWO elections in May! Get ready to vote in the Special Election May 4th to fill the SD 15 seat for the remainder of the term through the end of 2024 AND the Primary Runoff Election on May 28th for the four-year term beginning January 2025! Join us at the link in bio!!
Urban centers deserve and can have safe, reliable, convenient, affordable public transportation. Cars are the most-expensive, least-safe way to move around. We must protect all road users and prioritize accessibility for those with disabilities and those who cannot afford cars.
People often ask me how I balance nursing and campaigning. The answer is that I love both! Policy advocacy helps me fight burnout: I know I’m doing everything I can for my patients. And my nursing practice grounds my policy practice.
On my lunch break at the ER and reflecting about how hellish the Freeze was last year. When the temperatures drop, I think all of us feel a bit nervous. When it rains, we feel jumpy. It doesn’t have to be this way. 1/5
Reading this felt like a warm blanket from
@LesleyBrionesTX
. I live and die by EMTALA in the ER. EMTALA ushered in a new era of emergency care that saved lives millions at a time.
I’m with you, Commissioner. Thank you for your leadership, the funding, and your words.
I celebrate
@Jon_RosenthalTX
’s leadership on a multitude of issues in our state. I am with him and the signees of this letter. Public ed is THE uniting issue for Texans & a constitutional mandate. It’s far past time to do the right thing for every single student in our state.
I’m proud to have so many of my colleagues join me in this call to the governor to fulfill our constitutional duty to adequately fund public schools and address this unfolding crisis across the state!

As a working person, I am honored to be endorsed by

. As your Senator I will fight tirelessly to ensure that the voices of workers are centered in policy that supports them. I’m grateful to be on y’all’s team.

What a fantastic group of young, energetic people who value workers, love Texas, and are willing to fight for change. It’s always better to work together.

John Whitmire already announced he plans to ditch SD 15 halfway through the term. Running for two offices is disrespectful. Distracted leaders cost Texans their lives.
This week I met Bill as he went to cast his vote for me! He said that in the past ten years, no politician has knocked on his door until we did. This is the kind of change District 15 needs.
Front page, above the fold. What an incredible thing to see before heading out to knock on doors today!
@jaspscherer
@HoustonChron
thank you for the thoughtful coverage. You can read the full article here:
As a nurse, I cared for Texans during their toughest times. In Austin, I will work for every Texan to fight for our abortion rights, fix the grid, and always put public health and safety first. This year, vote for Molly Cook for Texas Senate, District 15!
Happy First Day of Early Voting! Your ballot may include TX SD 15, HCAD, ISD elections, & Humble municipal races! Early voting 4/22 - 4/30 and Election Day Sat 5/4!
Thank you to friends in Humble for a FANTASTIC door knock over the weekend! See y’all at the polls!
SB 4 is a heinous, premeditated crime against humanity. Our state’s most powerful leaders aim to sow fear and chaos, and it shouldn’t be this way. I stand in solidarity with immigrant communities in our district and state, and I will continue to do so from the TX Senate.
The incumbent is making a lot of assumptions. He assumed no one else would run. He’s assuming he has SD 15 AND Mayor in the bag. He assumed no one would notice. But I noticed. And the voters are noticing.
Thank you
@saavetx
and the West University and Bellaire Area Democratic Clubs for hosting a spirited Q&A tonight. It was an honor to answer your questions, I look forward to continuing to speak with the voters of District 15.

My name is Molly Cook. I am an ER Nurse with a Masters in Public Health and a community organizer. Tomorrow is Election Day. I want to be your senator to bring about the change that saves life.
Like and RT to bring a Democratic frontline fighter to the Texas Senate tomorrow.
Highway widening has never been a suburban or rural vs. urban issue. Highway widening has never relieved traffic. Highway widening has never made roads safer.
Arrived early enough to the House Transpo Hearing, I get to watch staff set it up.
There is nothing like being here in person. Every room I walk into, I learn something new.
The 88th Texas Legislative Session isn’t over, but I’ve seen enough to know that Texans deserve smart, compassionate policy, and leaders who are committed to organizing our state.
I am excited to make a big announcement tomorrow. Like, share, and follow to stay engaged!
I am incredibly honored to be endorsed by
@organizetexas
! I will always be behind you in service of your mission to bring together Black and Latino Texans to fight for real change through organizing.
I would just like the world to know that if I pulled a

I would go to jail. It’s called patient abandonment. This is such a slap in the face. Show up, and make your arguments. Show up to the meeting you asked for.
Just finishing my shift at the ER and found out we recieved the endorsement of Working Families Party
@workingfamilies
! Early voting starts tomorrow! Let's bring this nurse and community organizer to the Texas Senate, y'all!
Yesterday we knocked 1601 doors and today we knocked EVEN MORE at 1782. We’re hearing from voters that they are ready for an engaged and focused Senator who will organize District 15. I am ready to fight for you in the Senate, so make your plan to vote Tuesday and let’s win this.
The HISD Board meeting is going to run late. This is the comment I would have read on behalf of a teacher at a non-NES school who fears retaliation.
