The Davina Effect strikes again - the Scottish Government announced it would welcome a resubmission from the makers of Utrogestan to the Scottish Medicines Consortium.A step to ending a postcode lottery for the best HRT in Scotland.
@ThisisDavina
Vive la France 🇫🇷 Just bought this progesterone HRT (Utrogestan) over-the-counter in Paris without my prescription. I haven’t been able to get it for three months in London due to ‘shortages’. Why oh why are women still struggling to get this in the UK?
@mariacaulfield

On the contrary, it’s just beginning as women start to realise HRT can help protect them from osteoporosis, heart disease and dementia. Studies show HRT regrows bone by over 3% in a year. That’s good news.
This is huge in our understanding of perimenopause and menopause. Not the obvious hot flushes but the invisible, insidious grind of lost sleep. And we can take action - progesterone at night and estrogen HRT really helps, as does exercise and meditation.
Last of the Utrogestan…and pharmacist has had none for two months. This is progesterone, key to protecting your womb if you’re using estrogen HRT.

STOP. THINK. CHECK THE FACTS. This headline in

Testosterone affects mental sharpness, energy, mood and libido in women - just as it does in men. Great news that more menopausal women are asking for it. We know what works. But gender bias in medical research has kept this secret for decades.
HRT is not a lifestyle choice - it’s a lifesaver. Giving women the HRT they need now avoids a string of GP appointments and helps long term health. Do the maths

Women are losing two hours sleep a night due to peri/menopause. That’s FIVE WEEKS' sleep every year, survey shows. Why suffer? For the majority of women, body-identical HRT will improve that…
Misguided letter from nurse saying HRT patients are taking time from cancer patients. In face, HRT REDUCES bowel cancer risk by 33% and estrogen-only HRT REDUCES breast cancer risk, as well as osteoporosis. Think longterm health!
1)Give us a National Formulary for HRT so we can get new body-identical products like Bijuve throughout the UK.
2) Pay a fair price for HRT on the European market
3) Speed up. If we can get Covid vaccines, why not HRT?

There are shortages of the safer body-identical HRT Utrogestan in all these areas and more. It is not a ‘swappable’ HRT as there is no equivalent on most formularies- and women don’t want to return to the older HRT with higher risks. Help!

I agree with Dr

that menopause care needs to be more nuanced, but it’s NOT “over-medicalised”. REMEMBER, AS YOU READ THIS, THAT OVER 80% OF UK WOMEN ARE NOT ON HRT, AND THAT MANY COMMUNITIES ARE NOT GETTING ACCESS OR INFORMATION.
