Buck was a transformative leader in Bmore. Only Earl Weaver won more games as O’s mgr. Buck leaves with a losing overall record primarily due to 47-115 disaster this yr but I believe the stellar 5 yrs of winning prior earned him a place in the O’s Hall of Fame.

2) A friend had a 5 yr old nephew with leukemia who wanted to meet Ray Lewis. I helped arrange it after a practice. Ray ran to the boy, dropped to his knees, hugged him & told him he wanted HIS autograph. They talked for a long time. Ray listened. The connection was awesome.

O’s did not rebuild for 14 yrs (1998-2011). They failed repeatedly with multiple GM’s & without a dedicated plan. They did NOT rebuild w Dan Duquette & Buck. In fact, Duquette explicitly told me: “You don’t rebuild in AL East.” Don’t confuse failures w planned rebuilds (more)

I covered O’s playoff teams in 1996-97. The 14 yr drought that followed. 3 playoffs 2012-16. Now the #rebulid which has potential for an epic era. Say recency bias if you wish, but a franchise tear down & resurrection in the AL EAST is unprecedented. Enjoy the now @wjz ⚾️

Buck resurrected O's pride by embracing team history & making sure his players knew who wore the uniform b4 them. He refused to give an inch to the Yankees or Red Sox & while acknowledging the payroll disparity, he wouldn't use it as an excuse- a perfect play in Baltimore.

5 QBs were drafted in the 1st round of 2018 #NFLDraft . In previous 12 drafts a total of 31 QBs were taken in 1st round & only 1 has QB’d a Super Bowl winning team: Joe Flacco.
