Delighted to announce that
@DCCJoShiner
is my preferred candidate to be our new Sussex Chief Constable subject to ratification by the Police & Crime Panel later this month. Read more here:
Glad today’s over, been a stressful one. Was in court this morning giving evidence against a man who was appealing his prison sentence for harassing me. His appeal wasn’t upheld so the injunction also remains in place, thank goodness. Will definitely sleep better tonight.
Dog theft is a growing concern for residents, do you agree? Do you think theft of your beloved pet needs a stronger sentence? Please answer the survey & tell me your views 👉
Delighted to have been elected as the new leader for the Conservative group of 29 x PCCs. Really looking forward to working with such a talented team of individuals, passionate to deliver for their communities.

I support our Chief Constable’s decision to issue taser to frontline officers that want it & pass the training Taser is a vital tool that helps keep Police & the public safe, has robust training and effective local scrutiny. As Chair
@AssocPCCs
I do not agree with this position!
The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners has called for an urgent review of Taser training following concerns raised by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Not looking forward to tomorrow as I’m giving evidence in court in relation to the stalking/harassment I’ve endured. On the upside, I’ll be using the live-link video facility that we’ve pioneered so that’s a first for a PCC!

Delighted that the Panel supported my decision to appoint
@T_CCJoShiner
as our next Chief Constable. She’s pledged to make
@sussex_police
tougher on tackling criminality, more supportive to victims + put more officers on the beat 👏👏
Dear

Great news that Sussex Police will be receiving an extra 129 officers as part of

Big day tomorrow. I’m holding interviews for new Chief Constable of Sussex. Our panel’s short-listed 4 to interview - all extremely impressive, capable individuals - so will be an exacting day for everyone. I’ll be announcing my ‘preferred’ candidate on Tuesday as per regulations
Disgusting scenes in Bristol and I won’t be posting pictures either. This isn’t peaceful protest about a Bill & protecting rights, this is violent criminality. My thoughts are with
@ASPolice
especially those poor officers who’ve been seriously injured trying to protect local ppl.
Delighted to have been on Pet Theft Taskforce that put forward these recommendations. The national dog theft survey I led on with my
@AssocPCCs
colleagues had 125,000 responses, clearly demonstrating strength of public feeling that pets are not property
Our

detectives have seized 10 dogs after carrying out a search warrant at a site in
#Surrey
on Tuesday.
@SussexRuralCops
are assisting CID in establishing whether the dogs recovered have been stolen.

It’s taken too many years for domestic abuse (DA) to be recognised as a serious crime -
@DaveThompsonCC
comments in

@Fhamiltontimes
are disappointing/poorly timed given recent increases during lockdown & that DA accounts for 20% of reported crime
I’m looking forward to working with the government’s Taskforce on pet reform. We need dog theft recorded as a separate offence otherwise police forces can’t quantify how extensive this crime really is
Two and a half hours (mostly cross-examination) in court today giving evidence as a victim - certainly getting view of criminal justice system I never anticipated when I stuck my head above parapet of public life 🤬 Not a good day but am more determined victims are treated better
As a 65-yr old man goes to prison today, let us all be clear, coughing or spitting at an emergency worker & claiming to have

This is quite shocking👇 Our judicial system should be protecting police officers not punishing them all over again. Violence against emergency workers is never just part of the job!

As there’s no legal definition for stalking, it’s often difficult for officers to spot but if someone’s behaviour is Fixated, Obsessive, Unwanted or Repeated, it’s stalking & that’s a criminal offence FOUR warned is FOUR armed

Yet another compelling reason why police officers & staff should get the vaccine as a priority. On the frontline daily, they risk themselves & their families in order to keep us safe and I have pressed this point strongly with Ministers.
