What's everyone's historical bug-bear? Like if you see it you want to upturn what ever book you're reading? I have....many, but one that really grinds my gears is the claim that 'historically people didn't love their children because of high mortality rates'

Historians of medicine are really setting the bar right now regarding corvid-19. They've been giving out facts, critiquing current practice and well as giving us great historical content. This is why you don't cut humanities departments!

I love early modern recipe books. They'll be like, 'this confection is going to make you feel SO GOOD, doesn't matter what your ailment is or where it's from!! YOU WILL BE HEALED' and the main ingredients will be opium and honey

Disabled people are excluded from pretty much every effort to make society more equal. Marriage equality, for example, many disabled people cannot marry their partner or their disability support payments will stop. Stop getting mad at people when they point out the exclusion.

Perennial reminder to never trust a primary source as far as you can throw it. Unless you can throw far, in which case…trust it less than you could throw it. Also, why are you throwing special collections material? OMG PUT IT DOWN, YOU’LL BE BANNED FROM THE LIBRARY!!!!

I got a new museum volunteer role (remote). I just got off a call and the energy is pumped through my veins ⚡ I missed museums 😭😭. A sense of purpose during this hellish NY.

Everytime somebody says to me 'as I'm sure you already know' I pretty much never already know. But I appreciate the dance of people gently stating the obvious which is absolutely beyond my comprehension 😂

Wait until the 'how dare you touch rare books without gloves' people find out the ONLY reason I applied to do a PhD was to my fingerprints /contact DNA on as much special collection material as possible.
