I think every HS should play HS baseball on friday night under the lights. Not a ton of youth baseball is played on friday nights. When people know when games are it's easier to go to them.

There should be friday night baseball games every week. Plenty of complexes around with lights that can accommodate. One of the hard things about HSBB is figuring out when and where games are. Everybody knows HSFB games are on friday nights.

Kansas City is becoming a new hot spot for summer baseball where teams from all over the midwest can come to play great talent. Lots of teams head to Atlanta but it's better for local kids if they can play here in front of local colleges where most will end up.

When scouts come to your game there's a good chance they will see you take 0 balls in play and put 0 balls in play. But they will see you pre-game, 7 times mid inning, 100 pre pitch preps and 4 ABs. How you approach those things will determine if your name is off or on the list.

They did it AGAIN. Local 9u team pitched a kid 108 pitches then the next game pitched another kid 107. Kid who threw 107 threw 43 the day before. 150 pitches in 2 days for a 9 year old.

What I've learned in youth baseball is the biggest difference between most AA, AAA and Major teams is a willingness to lose. The teams that dominate AA and AAA don't move up because they can't stomach losing more games. Your team should be winning at MOST 60% of games.

If a player that gets drafted never practiced with your team, you've done nothing to help them get where they are. If they played a few tournaments with you, you used them to win and sell your team to other players. You owe your success to the player, they don't owe theirs to you

IMO the biggest issue with youth baseball are the need to crown champions every weekend. Schedule 4 games in a weekend, go play them. Have fun, learn and go home. I'm sure the guy who shouts about "participation trophies" won't like this, but screw him anyway.

Thee @MSHSAAOrg needs to look into how to deal with baseball differently than other sports. Players need to be doing arm care now and ideally under the supervision of somebody. If you can't afford private instruction, you're at a disadvantage and more likely to be hurt.

Parents and coaches are why tournaments are setup the way they are. They want to post that sunday picture on facebook. The kids just want to play. Elimination brackets are dumb and need to be removed from 90% of youth baseball.

Really kind of sucks that we cancelled baseball last year which was out-doors in a very low contact sport when cases and hospitalizations were at their lowest point. But considering they've played football, basketball and wrestling, i'm 100% optimistic we get our season this year

If schools cancel fall sports. I am 100% sure that players will find teams willing to compete outside of school. Once baseball was cancelled, people just joined their summer teams. I am sure a void in football, softball and other sports will be filled with private teams.

Easiest thing you can do to help yourself get recruited is sprint through first base on EVERYTHING. Recruiters have stop watches, they want to know your time to first. If you can't give full effort on a simple run to first, it says a lot about you as a player.

Paola and Mother Nature have ended Louisburg’s season as the Panthers defeat the Wildcats 3-1 in a called game. Wildcats had 2 on and one out in top of 7, but lightning and rain ended the Wildcats’ rally. Game is official if 5 innings have been completed.

Some thoughts from watching some playoff baseball. If you're going to ask your guys to bunt and play bunt defense in the postseason, you had better practice it in games during the regular season. I've a lot of poor execution on both sides so far.

So the Missouri 5A state champion DeSmet put themselves over .500 on the season by winning the championship game. They were 8-13-1 going into districts and then won 6 straight to claim the title. Don't ever give up.
