School activities are very important for Kansas students. In a study by U of Wisconsin with Kansas students: The health related quality of life scores declined in the absence of school activities.
Exercise and organized sports are widely recognized as powerful antidepressant and anti-anxiety interventions. Based on a study by the U of Wisconsin with Kansas students, physical activity scores during the month of May decreased.

The fall activity season will continue as scheduled for those schools able to participate.
The KSHSAA BOD will meet Friday to discuss a plan for those schools that are unable to participate this fall.
Proposed Plan:
Executive Order 20-32 on May 14 establishing Phase 1.5 to the Ad Astra Plan for Reopening Kansas does NOT impact the KSHSAA Summer Guidelines which begin on JUNE 1. The KSHSAA will continue to monitor any future government orders related to COVID-19.

State Track and Field update:
Athletes and coaches enter at 9:00
Tickets at 9:30
Field events - 4 trials all final two flights
8:00 scheduled field events are now 11:00 field events and then rolling schedule from there.
Running - 10:45 with 3200. Rolling schedule from there.
First day of practice for Scholars Bowl, Debate, Girls Cross Country, Volleyball, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Gymnastics, Boys Cross Country, Boys Soccer, and Football! ⚽️🏈🎾🏐⛳️🏃♀️🏃♂️
All running events are postponed for Friday, except the 4A, 5A and 6A 3200 meter runs! We will resume all other running events at 8:00am on Saturday morning with all being timed finals!
Due to Lightning in the area, the KSHSAA State Track and Field Meet is being suspended. The next update will be made at 9:00am. We plan on competing today.
