Daniel Murphy was touched by the gesture. A day after his retirement, the @Mets placed his photo on the Whitestone Board at @CitiField to congratulate him on his career. It was like a homecoming for him, going back to where it all started. It meant a lot to him to be remembered.

It’s hard to believe that 7 years ago today we lost our beloved Shannon Forde. I was at a restaurant in St. Lucie with my friends when I got the call. It was 6:37p. She was only 44. Shannon was a trailblazer. It’s my goal to make sure people will never forget her. I know I won’t.

Two Hall of Fames down and the big one to go. I don’t understand how @keithhernandez is not in Cooperstown. The Cardinals made him a Hall of Famer and he has been in the Mets for a while. Keith did it all with the bat and his Gold Glove. More importantly he was a leader.

Willie Randolph was hired 17 years ago today to lead the team he rooted for as a kid. I hope he will get the opportunity to manage again. Willie’s winning percentage with the @Mets was .544. He was a former All-Star player who loves the game. He has a great legacy in the game.

Heartbroken today. Dennis D’Agostino, my friend of over 40 years and co-worker for 5 with the Mets, died suddenly. We shared the 1986 Championship. Couldn’t have done it without him. He went on to enjoy a great PR career with the Knicks. He was a Met forever. Love you Dennis.

I just spoke to Willie Mays, to wish him a happy birthday. He was my childhood hero, everything he did on the field was pure magic. Willie sounded the same as when we first met, on a Mets trip to SF. I told him I was now working with alumni, so he was one of my guys. He laughed.

I feel old. The 1st time I met Darryl Strawberry was in 1980. He just turned 18. We were in Dodgers Stadium & had just picked him as the No. 1 pick. Today he's 59. Thankfully he's cancer free & doing great work. Only downside to this is that if he is 59 I have to be a lot older.

As you listen to Willie Randolp talk, you can hear how much passion he still has for baseball. To me, it’s not fair, he never got a second chance at managing after he led the @Mets to 302 victories and a .544 winning percentage. Willie deserved better.

I'll always remember Mike Baxter’s grit. Eight years ago today, showing no fear, he severely injured his shoulder crashing into the wall at @CitiField to preserve @johansantana ’s no-hitter, still the only one in club history. Mike is now in his 4th season as coach at @VandyBoys .

We are proud that firefighter Jared Lloyd who was honored yesterday was a Mets fan. He was a true hero. When the time is right we want to do something special for his family at @CitiField . He left two young sons. It would be a small way we could pay tribute to their dad.

The proudest moment of my 5-decade career with the Mets was how we helped NYC heal after 9-11. I'll #NeverForget what the guys did 20 years ago. Johnny, Al, Todd, Robin, Fonzie, Bobby, Mike, Lenny and too many more to name. It will be hard to hard to hold back the tears tonight.

When I first got my job in 1980, the @Mets sent me to Baltimore to pick the brain of Orioles PR legend Bob Brown, who passed away last night. Bob knew everything about PR. He was kind and answered all of my questions. Thanks for getting me started. I always will be grateful. RIP

On my way to Fantasy Camp to take BP vs. Doc. He is going to throw me 10 pitches and I told him I could foul off one. The last time I swung a bat was in little league when I played 2B for Epstein’s Department Store in Clifton. Hit .091 that summer. Probably a bad idea on my part

This is how it went during Ron Darling’s @Mets career. Doc would get the season’s opener and RJ, would pitch the Rodney Dangerfield Game, Game No. 2. Next Saturday Ron will get the respect he deserves with his induction into the #Mets HOF along with Edgardo Alfonzo & Jon Matlack.
