There need to be higher-stakes repercussions for people who are continually caught cheating at online poker; It is in the best interest of the entire poker community. In my opinion, the major live-tournament stops should share a blacklist of online poker's worst cheaters.
It has been a long time goal of mine to go to the WSOP. My disability makes such a trip not a simple undertaking.
@JasonKoon
is soon picking someone to play with him in the Tag Team event.
Retweet this if you think he should pick me. (
@Liv_Boeree
is sadly already partnered)
Play thousands of hours and study thousands more. Overcome tough competition. Beat the rake. Don’t get cheated. Don’t get stiffed. Pay all your taxes and never get a refund on losing years. Seems easy enough.
I know it's been said a thousand times but we need giant chip stacks in the main event. In every other tourney, color us up as much as you want, but in the main you gotta have mountains of chips!
@WSOP
It would be cool to play a tourney where each player is given a "run it twice" chip they get to use one time they are all-in at any point. I'm sure there are lots of angles I haven't thought of, but if there was a way to implement it honestly, it could be interesting. Thoughts?
I never know how much longer this poker thing will go on; A lot longer, maybe not?
I don't know if it was having kids or just getting older, but I feel these moments fleeting past and am much more present when I play.
I observe the crew I've been competing against for so long.
Wealth giving people the time and security to work on themselves is a blessing I was completely oblivious to until I could afford it. Many people don't have their shit together because they've been too busy trying to figure out how to make ends meet.
One thing that becomes more obvious as the years keep burning by is that we only get a finite amount of time with one another. I’m lucky to be surrounded by people I love and can’t wait to take on 2022 with them. Happy New Year, may we all prioritize the loved ones in our lives!
Jason Koon (
@JasonKoon
) has been selected to challenge Phil Hellmuth (
@phil_hellmuth
) but Phil has told us he will no longer play on the originally scheduled date.
Unfortunately, HSD3 Round 5, scheduled for broadcast on Aug 22, is postponed.
There are so many situations in poker (the one area I am an expert) where I would say I was 99% certain about a situation being correct or incorrect, just to find out I was way off.
It feels like there is a personal lesson to be learned here.
My first year at the
@WSOP
I past
@ikepoker
in the hallway. He had no idea who I was; I nervously asked him if he would play me on a heads up poker arcade for no money and he happily agreed. Completely made my summer.
Dan is a good guy. We have differing opinions on table etiquette, that’s all. My timing was bad, tensions were high. The guy doesn’t deserve any grief, please be kind.
Mainly me talking to myself again here... Don't embrace programmed bad habits as being a part of who you are. If you handle things poorly, it's on you to fix them. You owe it to yourself and to the others you care about around you.
One thing that stands out to me in poker is that as you climb the stakes there is a shift from the best players being overly aggro and taking every pot to the best players being much more defensive and protected. This also stands out to me watching e-sports and boxing.
I really don't get all the hate for this fella's reading list. He's trying to read a book a week, which is pretty damn impressive, regardless of what level you rate them. I can relate to needing to catch up on books people from more educated areas were exposed to when young.
@AliceFromQueens
I'm a Philistine who doesn't read books and even I know this list is the literary equivalent of having a Scarface poster in your dorm room.
Due to personal reasons, Scott Seiver has withdrawn from his upcoming HSD 3 Round 5 match with Phil Hellmuth (
@phil_hellmuth
).
Who wants to step up and challenge Phil Hellmuth?
You need $800K and to let us know by Monday, Aug 15 at 3PM PT*.
@cuntycakes123
People are free to say whatever they want about me. If I’m out of line, I should be held accountable just like anyone else. My timing for addressing the situation was horrible and something I wish u could take back. It was an issue that had been brewing in me and clearly I should
It isn't a perfect analogy but it feels very similar to gym rats making fun of newcomers trying to better themselves; it just always rubbed me the wrong way. I've seen hundreds of comments of people mocking Lex for this list and the dude is just trying to learn.
@RealKidPoker
It isn’t talked about as much but I think the rule also keeps some players from making calls they would otherwise make if they knew they didn’t have to worry about being embarrassed when their hand is flipped over.
There are a lot of reasons why
@tritonpoker
has been so successful. The main one that stands out to me is all of the players are given a true VIP experience. Our next stop is at one of my favorite poker venues in the world, Maestral Resort in Budva, Montenegro.
I completely agree with Rob here. As tools get better live RTA could get out of hand really quickly. Live operators need to put their heads together and work on policing this now.
Players using solvers in live MTT at anytime is🤮4 poker
Operators & pros make lame excuse “you can’t ban it cause can’t be policed well enuf”
The harder to police a rule -the harsher you make the penalty-creates environment of self policing & stops 99% of problem.

@PhilGalfond
Don’t forget people were also mocked for betting larger than the pot. Basically if you didn’t bet 66% pot as your only bet in every situation you were a fish. Preset buttons were 66% 75% 85% 🤣
I had a very interesting chat with my friend and health coach
@bengreenfield
about being a poker player and optimizing my body and mind for peak performance.
A little different for me. A good % of my best friends are people I’ve met in poker and have been close with for over a decade. Even though we compete against one another, they have always been genuinely happy for me and my success and have picked me up when I needed it most.
@JasonKoon
Friendly with everyone, close with almost no one in poker for this reason. The nature of the game itself creates this toxicity despite plenty of well meaning people.
@PhilGalfond
I was playing a game recently and a player said to Bobby Baldwin, “How are you gonna give me a hard time right now when you know I’m at the tail end of a huge downswing.” Bobby then replied “What makes you think it’s the tail end!”
@PhilGalfond
I find rationality a paradox in poker. Understanding variance and what is truly in your control is crucial, but I wholeheartedly believe that you need to have unwavering faith in your abilities to push yourself to the highest levels. Do you think that holding yourself to

It's a function of how polar the sb limp is. The range is TT+ and a bunch of bottom vpip's like T5o,96o,73s etc. Shoving a hand like A2o, K3o blocks traps and unblocks limp-folds. You also don't need as much protection with TT as you think you do bc sb was all-in with big cards.
The final stop of this season's
@tritonpoker
series is just a few weeks away. In the player of the year race, it's coming down to the wire; let's finish strong!
@jeremyausmus
I love four-color decks, the one argument that has been made to me that makes some sense is that spotting what color the card was becomes twice as powerful.
@Dweisman13
@RealKidPoker
Gratitude for the moment helps me. I realize that I won't be doing this sorta thing forever, and being deep in the grind is exhausting and, at times, not very fun, but when it's all said and done, I'm sure I'll look back and have a deep appreciation for the experiences.
@phil_hellmuth
I believe whole-heartedly that you thought you were being generous. It's also very difficult in situations like these, when you're in the chair and are trying to come to a fair compromise in a matter of seconds. I had the luxury of thinking about it for as long as I wanted.
@IMATM_1
@phil_hellmuth
let me reword my deleted tweet w/ more detail. I feel very strongly that Phil did not angle here. The whole hand was a mess. In the end he offered the guy a 5k buy-out which is a great deal if PH had already called. Since he hadn't, IMO I wouldn't have made the guy pay anything.
@berkey11
@helloitslynne
@BiancaSparacino
I’m with you 100% here Matt. If people need a special day to reflect and think of a list of people they want to send a simple message of gratitude to, that is wonderful.
@DougPolkVids
I certainly don’t have the answer for this, but poker is filled with intelligent people who all want safer places to play. Form groups of people from different orgs to get together and examine cases and vote. There would need to be different degrees of penalties per offense.
@briankoppelman
What's fascinating about poker is how we are all ignorant of how bad we play because the game is so infinitely complex. When we "played great," we only did so from within our own limitations.
@hubermanlab
Hi! Mind helping me with this Q? I eat a lot of salt, almost always healthy things but I go pretty hard as long as it tastes good to me. I live a very clean and train hard + good blood work. I'm worried the high levels of salt could run me down long term? Thanks!
@hubermanlab
You can say the same for poker! If you ever want to give it a try I can show you the way. The least I could do with all you’ve done for us. It’s basically impossible to sit at a table without your podcast coming up.
@strassa2
@bparispoker
@DTOPoker
Not only are you a nuts underdog in proportional weight but you’re just an equity underdog on this flop. This node just has both players playing pretty passively because top pairs rarely get sucked out on, the way ahead or way behind scenario.
@NicsPicks
Just isn't true. There is no level of academic accomplishment that guarantees someone will be an elite poker player. If that were the case the world's leading mathematicians, game theorists, etc. would leave their research and teaching gigs that pay 5-6 figs a yr. to come make 7.
@GGPoker
On July 5th we mentioned this. Players are welcome to apply for review, (this does not mean all applications will be accepted). Many players have been banned for 2+ years for infractions like extensive preflop charts, that don’t deserve life. Heavy cheaters are gone for good.

I never use treadmill desks, I’ve tried a few times just couldn’t focus. Getting away from a screen is half the bonus of walking for me anyway.
@ToddWitteles
This 100% was not super-using and this case has already been resolved. There are lots of cases of promotion abusers slow chip dumping at micros that makes one person have an astronomical win rate until they are caught.
