I mean, if you told most British people 20 years ago that pothole repair would be a major pledge from both parties, rather than just something that happens, you'd be laughed out the room
I am thrilled and honoured to have been elected as the new city councillor for Bishopston and Ashley Down! Thanks everyone for your support, let's get to work!

This is the best argument for having directly elected regional and general secretaries. There is no system for holding this level of incompetence and/or malice to account, and that's just not good enough for a party that wants to present itself as a viable government in waiting.
I am thrilled to have been nominated as

@TheGreenParty
candidate for the upcoming by-election in Bishopston and Ashley Down. It's been a fantastic response on the doorstep so far, and I'm so pleased for the opportunity to represent local people and businesses
I find it really disappointing that Bristol Labour aren't meaningfully engaging with discussions around the new committee system.
There's a lot of expertise and passion in Labour and it's a shame that they want to put party politics above serving their city effectively.
This guy may well swan into Downing street with a supermajority and his total aspirations basically end there.
No vision. No hope. No interest in change.

Making six pledges to voters, the Labour leader promised "tough spending rules" and said he would "deliver economic stability".

Well done to my fellow green councillors who have worked hard on the new local plan.
A great example of cross party collaboration, and of the benefit of having a strong group of greens in the room!
Ahead of Bristol's new Local Plan being approved, shadow cabinet member Tony Dyer says that tackling the housing crisis and climate crisis in our city need not be mutually exclusive
I've just seen among all the other bad news for the arts in Birmingham that the council is closing 25 out of 36 libraries - genuine cultural vandalism. Libraries are one of the few community resources left in the UK: they offer incalculable support and value.
Ripping up their own workers rights deal should be the biggest clue that whilst
@UKLabour
may have been born from trade unionist movements, it's no longer a party that fights for working people
Labour's last distinctive policy package standing was on workers' rights.
Well, that's now been trashed.
According to Unite general secretary

She says: "In truth this new document is not worthy of discussion."

Not only has the committee responsible for this policy not met yet, the work programme for the committee is not yet set.

Hi Miha, whilst the greens have the largest number of councillors, we don't have a majority on the council. This means we need (and want) to collaborate with other parties to solve the cities problems.

The absolute nonsense in parliament tonight is the most stark example of how politics in this country works:
Effective action gets swamped by politicking, parlour games and pantomimes, meanwhile the real people who are affected end up being forgotten
To be honest, it's crazy that you needed to ask for permission for tables outside anyway?
It should have been tacit consent with enforcement able to withdraw it for nuisance use
For who? Because nothing you've said for the last several years suggests it's for working people.
For a party that actually has a plan to make working people better off, you should vote for

The railway industry is a leaky boat, why pledge to fix the holes except for one?
Especially bizarre considering they'll abolish leasehold for being exploitative. Why not extend the same principle here?
Don't know what Rolling Stock leasing companies are? What they do? Who owns them? In this audio clip from 2022 Eddie Dempsey from the

The end result? A waste of time and a nothing motion not worth the paper it's written on. Meanwhile innocent Palestinians are being killed indiscriminately

That also relies on the government succeeding with their target, which based on their previous promises (the testing capacity and PPE shortages springing to mind), is unlikely. Wouldn't be surprised to see some creative maths regarding vaccination rates though!

Instead, they chose to to play the part of parasite, and now are crying crocodile tears that the cash cow is drying up
I'd like to congratulate our next Prime Minister Liz Truss as she prepares for office.
But after 12 years of the Tories all we have to show for it is low wages, high prices, and a Tory cost of living crisis.
Only Labour can deliver the fresh start our country needs.
Starmer is the king of the sycophants! His domestic policy is guided through lobbying and corporate hospitality, and it appears his foreign policy is now guided by the conservatives!
I bet he'll be happy to follow every US request without question when he's PM too!

You'll be able to travel on buses in our area *for free* during your birthday month.
£8 million has been put aside by West of England Mayor Dan Norris to pay for it.
it's key to remember that this was *actually built*. there is a link from the channel tunnel to the west coast mainline. British Rail invested £140m before it was privatised. the trains were built! but services never ran because operators didn't consider them commercially viable
Reeves added:
“I’ve also always been very clear that Labour’s fiscal rules are absolutely non-negotiable.

Thing is, the point of civilization IS to make things easier for the next generation down the line? Like, yes, your life was harder, and your collective effort was meant to make the next generations life easier
Philosophical question for older people: how do you stop yourself becoming like this, constantly believing everything was harder, arguing your effort was greater?
