Today I briefed the #UNSC for the first time in my role as chair of the #Somalia sanctions committee. Sanctions play a critical role in ensuring accountability in Somalia. Also important is the humanitarian carve out - which ensures that aid continues to reach those in need.

I echoed Minister Coveney's words at the #UNSC today. Ireland will not apologise for being on the side of international law, the UN Charter, & the side of #Ukraine . We urge Russia to heed repeated calls of the General Assembly to end its illegal aggression, & restore peace.
