The right to peacefully protest must be protected. I join the calls for an immediate de-escalation of violence against the #EndSARS protestors. It is critical that we listen to, and engage with, the voices of the youth—not try to silence them.

I spent 5 fruitful days in South Africa, where I joined the inaugural #CapeTownConversations dialogue alongside former President Mbeki, & the @_AfricanUnion Conference on #PositiveMasculinity . I now head to Dubai for @RLMglobalhealth 's #COP28 Forum on climate-health discussions.

My congratulations to @LulaOficial on his election as President of #Brazil . I was honored by his invitation for an official visit in April 2010, and I hope that this peaceful & democratic process will open a new page in the history of this beautiful country.
