I am pleased that a plan to demolish a family home on Riddlesdown Road, Purley and replace it with a large block of flats has been refused. New homes are needed but the right place for new flats is Croydon town centre, central London and brownfield sites.

Congrats to my Loxford Labour opponent, Sahdia Warraich. I am disappointed but she is a good person. There are now 3 female Cllr’s in Loxford- only ward in the whole of Redbridge to so. I hope this inspires generations of female leaders to come. All the best to her!

As I got older, I realised the sacrifices my dad had made. Working 3 jobs and often till late to support the family; yet always making time for us and so we don’t miss school. He may not have gone to school but the lesson he taught aren’t found in class rooms. Happy Father’s Day.

My neighbour opposite are from Afghanistan, whenever they cook something be it Kabuli Pulao or Bolani we also get a portion. Some of the most kindest people on earth. It’s their nature and anyone would be lucky to have an Afghan family living next to them.

Today, as a community, we stand shoulder to shoulder to mourn the tragic loss of Zara Aleena. Just a short walk from the station to her home, she lost her life at the hands of a man. This must end. My thoughts will forever be with Zara’s loved ones. Rest in peace Zara 🕊 🌸

A year since James passed away. He came to Grenfell iftar where, like other politicians, he was due to stay for 1 hour. James ended up staying till the end, speaking to communities affected. So down to earth and approachable. He showed what kindness in politics can be like.
