Today my husband and I were walking by the Christmas section in Target & he had the AUDACITY to say that we already had a lot of Christmas decorations at home. That is not how the Target Christmas section works. The decorations choose us, not the other way around.
Crying right now. Colorado Springs hasn't had a non-republican mayor since 1997.
"It’s a new day in our beloved city...Colorado Springs will be become an inclusive, culturally rich, economically prosperous, safe and vibrant city.”
So proud to be a
@yemiformayor
voter.
BREAKING: In another MAJOR LOSS for Republicans, the Democratic-aligned independent candidate Yemi Mobolade has DEFEATED Republican Wayne Williams in the Colorado Springs mayoral runoff election.
This is the second big flip away from the Republican Party tonight.

Cole arrived on Friday, December 15th at 6:22 am, weighing 5 lbs, 8 oz and measuring 19 in long. He surprised us by making his entrance 12 days early (we’re thinking he didn’t want to miss Christmas). (1/3)
Saw this drink called “mom water” at the liquor store yesterday and I feel like it’s kind of problematic. It feels like names like this normalize and even promote using alcohol as a way to cope with daily life. I’ve been seeing a lot of products marketed like this lately.
I know how much you guys love to snark on the Target women’s section, so I present you with this sweatshirt & hat combo. Not pictured is the matching duffel bag which fully completes the ensemble.
We’re hoping that we’ll be bringing him home within the next few days. He’s very healthy overall and we’ve been spending as much time as we can getting Cole snuggles.
Words can’t express how much we love him and how excited we are to be his parents! 💙 (3/3)
I was in labor for 19 hours and I’m doing well in my recovery. Cole has been in the NICU for the past 4 days because he’s had some struggles with his oxygen levels (from a combination of him being born a little early and living at a high altitude). (2/3)
Here's how many weeks the US gives for paid maternity leave compared to other wealthy countries:
Japan: 52 weeks
UK: 39 weeks
Canada: 15 weeks
US: 0 weeks
The United States is the only wealthy country in the world without any guaranteed paid maternity leave.
The minimum age for Olympic figure skating needs to be raised to 18. I’m no expert, but what the Russian team is making teenage girls go through isn’t right or healthy for them.
So much toxicity has come to light with the Olympics recently that I’ve been less interested in it.

I had my 16 week OB appointment and everything is looking good. We got to hear Mr. Nugget’s heartbeat for the second time so that was neat!
@gcnewsman
My mom is a Christian. My dad allowed her to start taking us to church when I was in middle school (as long as she let him talk to us about his opinions too). It was a confusing childhood, but I always felt led to Jesus and Christianity even before I was allowed to learn more.
We are going to visit a new church this morning for the first time in several years. Going somewhere new where we don’t know anyone gives me a lot of anxiety, but it feels like the right time to start looking for a church, so I’m ripping the bandaid off today. Hope it goes well.
It was so odd that I stuck around in the area where I was shopping to hear what was going on. Turns out the guy was trying to recruit him for some kind of MLM, which is what I figured. 😑
Thankfully the guy turned him down, but ugh MLMs are so predatory. I hate fake people. 2/2
Thinking back to Thanksgiving 2020 & remembering how someone (wish I could remember who) here on Twitter drew a table & wrote in the names of whoever wanted to be added. That was a lonely Thanksgiving for many of us & thoughtful gestures like that are why I love this community.
We got a Ring notification at 3:30 am saying "there is a person at your front door."
I go to look at the recorded footage and it is a GIANT SPIDER.
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Today I saw a lady wearing an Aaron Rodgers Packers jersey, except that she had put a piece of tape over Aaron Rodgers’ name and wrote SCIENCE on it. 🙌
The worst thing about cleaning your house is that once you do it, a few days later you have to do it AGAIN to keep it looking like it did the first time.
New profile pic, same Emily C.R. I hadn’t changed my picture in 3 years so it was time, but hopefully it won’t throw everyone off (when you guys change yours it sometimes takes me a second. 😆).
@BeccaLizz
Just bring a blanket if you want to feel "cozy" on a flight like a normal person. Don't objectify people. And don't write a social media post about it either. It's so strange that she thought this was OK to post.
@jivebot
I think it has to do with a false idea of what it means to trust God...that if you trust God you don't need it.
But in my view as a Christian, God gave us the scientists who were able to create a vaccine and we should use our God given wisdom to take it.
@erinjeanwarde
Yikes. I went on their website and read about that, and then I also saw that they sell a bunch of merch too. It just doesn’t seem like a responsible message to be putting into the world. Especially when there are so many people vulnerable to messaging like this.
@ethanjweiss
I was homeschooled. I don’t think all homeschool environments are unhealthy, but I think what I experienced felt a bit cult-ish sometimes. As a kid, I felt responsible for trying to promote a good image of homeschooling to the world. I felt like I couldn’t say anything negative.
One of the positive things I discovered in 2020 is the
#WeirdChristianTwitter
community. Over the summer I decided to log back in to Twitter after years of not using it because I felt like using Facebook as much as I had been wasn't good for my mental health. (A thread...🧵⬇️)
After 11 consecutive days of testing positive for Covid, I finally tested negative yesterday! I gave my husband a hug and went somewhere other than my house. 🙌 Great feeling!
I’m at the Columbus airport and this guy just came through my gate literally screaming “I HATE OHIO STATE. I LOVE YALL, BUT I HATE OHIO STATE” at the top of his lungs.
At Target tonight, I overheard a guy walk up to a man with his son, strike up a conversation with the kid, and then go on to ask the dad all kinds of personal questions. “Where are you from?” “What do you do?” “Where does your kid go to school?” “What does your wife do?” 1/2
Guys. If you have HBO Max & like either The Office, Muppets Treasure Island, or The Princess Bride, then go watch "Our Flag Means Death."
It's so funny, just watch it.
@sheilagregoire
They didn’t say it outright, but it was implied through having no female ministers, elders, or communion leaders. Occasionally women would get up & make an announcement or discuss a mission trip they went on in front of the church but that was about it. This was Church of Christ.
@AymieJoi
I agree. Companies that name drinks like this (along with all the companies that have glasses, dish towels, and shirts with a similar message) are straight up irresponsible. You’re right, it’s not cute or quirky like these companies want people to think.
So I’m at Disneyland with a sling. I’m thinking I should go up to kids on rides and tell them that the ride they’re about to go on is how I broke my arm.
JK, JK, obvs. Funny thought though. 😂
I had Chicago-style deep dish pizza for the first time yesterday and I LOVE it. Literally want to take a trip to Chicago (I’ve never been) and exclusively eat pizza while I’m there.
We just dropped my brother off at the airport after he stayed with us for 6 nights. We had a great time but I just hate goodbyes. Outside of my husband, my brother is my best friend and it really sucks that he lives so far away. 😢
Salt & vinegar potato chips: do you like them? Growing up I had close friends who were English & after having them at their house I thought I didn't like them. However I just had some for the first time in years & I have to say that maybe I don't hate them so much...🤔
Husband is still Covid positive. His aunt is getting married tomorrow and of course we won't be able to go to the wedding. We were really looking forward to spending a fun day with family. Such a bummer.
One of my goals for 2020 had been to find a church. Covid changed that. It was a lonely, tough year to be in between churches. We didn't have a community that we could meet with outside, or even online. My prayer is that next Easter, we will have a church to go to. 🙏
My birthday is on Tues & we’re celebrating in Vegas this weekend! My plan is to find a birthday dessert each day we’re here. Last night we went to Milk Bar. I got a cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie & their famous Milk Bar Pie. Who knew cornflakes in cookies are good!?
I stand with Elmo. Oatmeal raisin cookies are my favorite. And I also agree that a rock's food preference should never be prioritized over humans/muppets who actually have mouths.
Timeline cleanse. This is Ranger after he had his first ever grooming appointment last week at a place called Snazzy Snout. He had a bath, a deshedding treatment, and a pawdicure. Then they gave him this adorable bandana.
My 2021 calendar is called "subpar parks" and each month features a different national park with a real 1 star review that someone left for it online. 🙃
For those of you who I’m not connected w/ on Instagram, I wanted to share an update on Cole. He was able to come home from the NICU two days before Christmas. It was the best gift we could ask for! He’s still on home oxygen but doing well so we’re hoping he can go without it soon
I’ve always loved white trees with multicolor lights and I finally got one! My friend said it looks like a unicorn tree and I think she’s right. I love it so much. 🦄
Still testing positive for Covid on day 11. It's the faintest line ever so I know I'm extremely close to being negative. I'm SO ready to leave the house but I'm also committed to making sure I don't get anyone else sick, so it's another day at home for me (hopefully the last).
I did a Hard Thing today. I went to an early morning yoga class at a studio I've never been to with people that I've never met. I went because I know I mentally & physically need it after being mostly alone & sedentary over the past 16 months. It felt good & I'm going to go back.
Last weekend we spent the day in downtown Denver at Union Station (Amtrak station) & then an Avs game. Union Station is super festive and has a bar/coffee shops inside so we hung out there for several hours & just enjoyed people watching and the decorations. Peak Christmas vibes.

I didn’t take many pictures during my 1st trimester because I was nauseous and exhausted basically 24/7 but here’s a few:
Smoothie King and Ranger—two things that have been making my pregnancy a little easier. (1/5)
@heatherdino09
I was an extra in the movie “Temple Grandin” starring Claire Danes. Google says Claire Danes and Kevin Bacon were at the same party together in 2012.
TW: pregnancy update 🤰
We’re in the home stretch and starting to anxiously await our lil dude’s arrival. Starting next week I’ll be having weekly ultrasounds and nonstress tests as an extra precaution since I have gestational diabetes. (1/3)
Parents should feel safe sending their children to public schools in the United States. Our schools should be some of the safest places for kids and it's horrific that that isn't the case.
I can't comprehend the pain that parents in Uvalde must be feeling.
Today is Covid Day 7 and I'm still testing positive (and it's a strong positive line at that).😞 I guess it makes sense because I'm still congested, have the occasional cough and am more tired than usual. Going to be resting for a few more days so I can fully beat this thing.
It's official, if you like pineapple on pizza, you're invited to join
