Cara Elizabeth Fiona Cosgrove arrived via #Caesarean at 11.42, weighing 7lb. I am immensely grateful to the team at @GEHMaternity who brought her into the world - particularly Dr Prasad, consultant anaesthetist, who managed to do a spinal block in very challenging circumstances.

I've just had my first encounter with a patient surprised their URTI had not resolved with antibiotics from Pharmacy First. How do policy makers not know that making antibiotics more readily accessible for ear, sinus and throat infections would increase demand not address it? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Massively helpful study. Would be good to see paper. Prioritising speed of access over continuity and equity has in my opinion been a profound mis-step, crippling NHS General Practice and, so it seems, directly regarding patient care.

Seeing the same GP reduces your risk of an emergency admission to hospital or of needing to use the out of hours service by 30% and astonishingly reduces the risk of dying in the following 12 months by 25% And knowing your patients makes being a GP a wonderful job. @rcgp

A few thoughts on the government’s GP rescue plan announced today….firstly they are right to address crisis in this sector. Some good ideas including a new NHS covenant modeled on the military and more transparency about performance.
