Winning the State Championship with my son on the coaching staff with me is something I’ll never forget. 💜We put a record breaking 60 points on the board and he’s on the headset in the booth helping ID coverages, personnel and making play call suggestions! Atta kid!!

We lost 2 games this season. Both teams are playing each other for the state championship today. I'm not sure if that makes me feel better or worse but we were picked to finish last in our own conference and we finished as one of the top teams in the state. Let's run it back!

There’s not too many teams who walk off of Lynden’s field with a win. This is a big deal, validating what we’ve worked so hard for. Winning a conference championship in the NWC is not for the faint of heart. I’m proud, but tomorrow morning we get back to work!

@CoachBenge We just had an athlete get almost $140k in scholarship money to play football for a D3. Yes, academic money but he got it because they wanted him to play football and his GPA qualified him. Say what you want, that’s as good of an offer as any.

Anacortes HS has never hosted a state playoff game at our home field. We're raising money to rent bleachers for the visitor's side (that is a WIAA requirement). You would not believe the cost of bleacher rentals!! If we can raise $5k, the district will cover the rest. Go Hawks!!

Ended practice with a FG miss. Some would just kick another but we went home. Then with the lights out and everyone gone, he went out on his own and spent 20 minutes kicking from the same spot in the dark. The miss had a bigger impact than a mulligan ever could. Go Hawks!

Analyzing season numbers we averaged 462 yards of offense and 31 points per game but in our 2 losses the yards were still there but yards gained didn't equal points. The difference was turnovers. Better preparation / play calling in scoring zones will be an off-season priority.

@CoachDeTamble Had a kid call me, “sorry coach, I got attacked by a goat while riding my skateboard and think I broke my arm”. A teammate confirmed, “that damn goat is a menace”. He did in fact show up the next practice in a cast and rumors say the goat is still a menace to this day! 🐐

@CoachMckieJr As OC a few years ago, had a makeup game added to the schedule but had a family trip already planned. I worked hard to prepare the team and staff, went with my family. They won, I won, everyone won. Some would’ve cancelled the trip, I made the right decision.

Great day at LHS passing tourney. Went 5-1, just a few points short vs Lake Stevens in the semis. Our boys were warriors, all playing both ways all day taking on the state’s top teams. The level of toughness shown leaves no doubt in my mind that we are ready for the season.

3 state quarterfinal games, NWC teams went 3-0, scored 164 points and two had running clocks by the third quarter. Apparently all conferences are not built the same. NWC deserves more than 2 playoff opportunities. @wiaawa @RylandSpencer

Lynden is legit. They are a very talented and disciplined football team with a lot of depth. Definitely the favorite to win the 2A state title. Anacortes can play with anyone in the state and will be a handful for whoever they play going forward. #WAFBScores

There are 3 NWC teams that DNQ for playoffs who's only losses were against top 10 teams. Meanwhile, there are teams with playoff births who didn't play a top 25 team all season. How can we fix this broken system? Shouldn't the best teams qualify? @wiaawa
