This month, we celebrate the progress we continue to make across California’s Central Valley. Learn more about the infrastructure that will transform transportation in the Golden State!
#BuildHSR
‼️ Californians deserve the quick, efficient, and reliable travel alternative that much of the world already enjoys.
🚄 With top speeds of 220mph, high-speed rail will get you from SF to LA in under 3 hours, permanently transforming transportation in CA.

We’ve environmentally cleared 422 of the project’s 494 miles!
By this summer, the Palmdale to Burbank section’s environmental document will be considered by our Board.
If approved, we will have completely cleared the 463 miles from downtown SF to LA Union Station.

This article lacks this important context – High-speed rail is the cheapest, most efficient, and environmentally cleanest way to expand California’s transportation infrastructure. Not to mention the jobs and economic benefit it’s already creating today.
More than 15 years after a high-speed rail linking SF and LA was pitched to voters for about $40 billion, state officials say it will cost as much as $35 billion just to connect Bakersfield and Merced, with $100 billion to complete the rest.

We’ve cleared 422 of the nearly 500 miles of environmental work for the California HSR project!
Later this year, we plan to bring the Palmdale to Burbank section forward for board approval. Once approved, we will have cleared from downtown SF to LA Union Station.
#FactFriday
🚨 Today, the Authority Board of Directors certified the Final EIR/EIS for the San Francisco to San José project section!
This action completes the environmental clearance in NorCal & extends environmental clearance to 420 miles of the 500-mile Phase 1 alignment from SF ↔️ LA!
We just released our shortlist of qualified potential suppliers for California High-Speed Rail’s electrified trains!
The shortlist includes two teams:
@AlstomUSA
@SiemensUSA
We look forward to moving this process forward to get high-speed trains here in California.
🚨 Today, we completed the Merced Avenue overcrossing! This is the 7th structure to open in the Central Valley in 2023 & the 3rd structure in the past month!
🛠️ This structure spans 509 feet, 43 feet wide, & takes traffic over SR 43, as well as BNSF & future HSR lines.
#BuildHSR
As we took the first step toward buying trainsets this year, you've probably heard our trains will hit top operational speeds of 220mph.
But did you know they'll be designed to go faster than that? The trains we procure will be tested at 242mph in the Central Valley!

🚨 BREAKING 🚨
The Cedar Viaduct in Fresno is now completed! This structure is one of the most significant completed to date.
The 3,700-foot viaduct will take trains traveling at 200+ mph over State Route 99, Cedar, & North Avenues.

We completed one of the last canal realignments in Construction Package 4!
The canal, owned by Semitropic Water Storage District, has now been rerouted into a siphon that passes underneath.
The canal is approximately 12 ft deep, 6 ft wide at the bottom, & 42 ft wide at the top.
As we move closer to buying trainsets, we're considering multiple seating options for high-speed rail passenger service. Here's a look at a few preliminary seating designs, in order:

🚨 We just took another critical step toward bringing HSR into operation!
Today, our Board approved the release of a Request for Qualifications to look for a firm to design track & overhead contact systems for the first 171-mile segment connecting Merced, Fresno, & Bakersfield.
Today, we completed our ninth Central Valley structure this year and second structure this week!
The Kansas Avenue overcrossing, located west of State Route 43 in Kings County, is now open to traffic.
The overcrossing is 207 feet long and 43 feet wide.

California is helping lead the way by building the nation's first high-speed rail system, with top speeds of 220mph.
This project has created 11,000+ jobs so far. We're dispatching around 1,300 workers daily to over 30 active job sites along 119-miles of construction.
#BuildHSR
.
@SecretaryPete
is right. There's no reason we can't deliver the same efficiency & development HSR has created across the globe.
With 119-miles of active construction, CA is in an excellent position to use federal funds to build the nation's 1st 220mph HSR line by decade's end.
284 pre-cast girders have been placed at the Hanford Viaduct. Ironworkers have also been tying rebar for the deck and walls.
Over the last few months, concrete has been placed for the diaphragms, which provide bracing for girders set between each span of columns.

🚨 Today, we can announce the opening of two new HSR structures in the Central Valley!
The Adams Ave Grade Separation in Fresno County (pictured below) & the Cairo Ave structure in Kings County are now open to the public.

Hi there, we plan to run an express service from SF to LA that will connect the two cities in under 3 hours and service with intermediate stops.
This is such a needlessly sensational headline for a story written off a committee hearing, and an example of how bias seeps in.
First, the costs haven’t changed - this was the funding gap to the top end of the estimate for at least a year now. That’s not necessarily news.
