Exciting news: My Rapamycin & Exercise study is fully funded!
This milestone, over two years in the making, couldn't have been achieved without your support.
Love you all.
My baby girl has arrived!
There's a serious lack of sleep going on right now, so apologies for a lack of literature reviews over the next couple of weeks
The FDA has just released a statement banning NMN supplement sales.
It seems as though a company called Metro International Biotech (co-founded by Dr David Sinclair) lobbied for NMN to be banned, so they can sell their proprietary blend of NMN called MIB-626

Wow, I need to go through this in more detail but a new human, randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial of 'combined metabolic activators' showed a significant 29% improvement in the cognitive abilities of Alzheimer’s disease patients!

did you like this tweet because it’s a sentiment you agree with, or is there another reason?
If you agree with it, that’s somewhat surprising given the podcast you did with

Longevity interventions are already here: diet, exercise, sleep, life purpose, socialising, no alcohol/smoking.
And for skin: sunscreen, retinoid creams, Hyaluronic Acid supplements, and collagen peptide supplements
A phase 2 human study examining a combination of supplements claims a 29% improvement in the cognitive function of Alzheimer's Disease patients
Supplements include:
- L-serine 12.35 g
- Nicotinamide riboside 1g
- N-acetyl-L-cysteine 2.55 g
- L-carnitine tartrate 3.73 g

The FDA Ban On NMN Supplements Update:
- originally banned due to lobbying from Dr David Sinclair's company, Metro International Biotech, so that they can sell their own proprietary blend of NMN called MIB-626
- since then, some supplement companies have started fighting back

All going well, we're about 3 months away from starting patient recruitment
A meta-analysis from 6 prospective cohort studies (n=181,709) found that patients with a more optimistic mindset were at lower risk for all-cause mortality (HR 0.87, 95% CI 0.82–0.92).

TLDR: maximize your health by focusing on diet, exercise, sleep, meditation, life purpose, and socializing. This NMN debacle just a distraction from what really matters
As a frontline healthcare worker, I chose to get both the influenza and Omicron booster vaccines for two crucial reasons:

Rapamycin is epic, and we need human trials urgently
Just to update you all, the fundraiser to begin my Rapamycin & exercise trial has raised $110k out of the required $490k. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far
How can we continue the momentum?

Since you asked: here's pilot data on rapamycin started at 28 months. This is the lower dose from our 2016 paper. Graphic from a seminar I gave at UAB back in 2014. Never could get NIH funding to follow it up and see how big the effects really are with a larger cohort.

A new meta-analysis of 3 high-quality, randomized controlled trials demonstrated that Vitamin D supplements "reduced risk for diabetes by 15% (hazard ratio, 0.85 [95% CI, 0.75 to 0.96]) in adjusted analyses"

I love my job. Worked with a type 2 diabetic patient for about 6 months now. He used to have ridiculously high HbA1c levels, and now through a combination of diet, exercise, metformin and GLP-1, he’s losing weight, HbA1c is controlled, and he’s now off insulin.
Thank you!
Never in my wildest dreams when starting out did I think my YouTube channel would reach 200k subscribers.
I'm truly humbled by your support and glad for the interest in the preventative care clinical guidelines
Thinking of just retiring from this shit. Most of you just believe whatever the fuck you want and don’t give a shit about evidence anyway
Go do whatever the fuck you want.
Remember everyone: diet, exercise, sleep, meditation, life purpose, and socializing.

NEW VIDEO - Aging & Epigenetics with the amazing
@DrMorganLevine
Dr Levine is a Yale Assistant Professor, and

This is a very grounded, no hype conversation about the potential impact epigenetics may have on healthspan & aging.
The new "high protein = BAD" study needs some context:
- overnight biomarker study involving 23 people
- liquid diet using a "Boost Plus" drink that contains 24g of added sugar
Instead, an analysis from the BMJ in 2020 states: "Intake of total protein was associated with a…
A good summary of the Nicotinamide Riboside research in humans:
"The general finding in human NR trials, especially those concerned with metabolism, is that NR supplementation has very few clinically relevant effects."
(cont)
There’s no human evidence of this claim, and simply fuels hype over substance.
If there was any validity to this claim, the clinical guidelines would suggest to give NMN to patients at high risk of lung cancer, but they don’t.
Please do better
Don't wait to feel motivated before taking action.

I love appropriate deprescribing. Have been working with an 81 year old patient for the past 9 months, got her off most of her long-term meds that at her age were causing more harm than good. She feels 10x better

Question for aging/longevity researchers:
How do you distinguish between 'age reversal' vs a healthier person for their age?
For example, a 60-year-old obese person who smokes, drinks alcohol, and has untreated high blood pressure resulting in proteinuria.

When we talk about 'boosting longevity' and 'extending healthspan', aren't we essentially talking about primary care?
Primary care is defined as services covering prevention, wellness, and treatment of common illnesses. Why rebrand it to longevity?

After an extremely busy start to 2024, I took the weekend off to enjoy the New Zealand summer with my family. Feeling very lucky. Now back to work.

Amazing how many times my 1-year-old daughter tried to stand, fell, and got back up again to get to this point.
Her innate resilience, picking herself up after failing and immediately trying again, I find incredibly inspiring.

My wife and I had a shocking night last night with our newborn daughter.

Prof Matt Kaeberlein is *the* premier longevity researcher IMHO. Optimistic but also grounded.
Very lucky to have him involved in the Rapamycin & Exercise clinical trial
To those claiming they have "reversed aging", here is why I push back on that.
In my opinion - especially in science - extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Claiming to make an animal age backwards is extraordinary!
