Hospitals represent 4% of carbon emissions in the UK and operating theaters are a significant part.
It's important to understand the impact that surgery has on the environment and work on initiatives to make it sustainable.

my main issue with the question is the way the explanation is phrased, it insinuates ALL Asians and
it teaches healthcare professionals generalise people from an entire continent who make up nearly 60% of the worlds population, with no nuance
@Beeeezebub
yes cultural differences are a thing but the way the explanation is phrased insinuates ALL Asians -
it teaches healthcare professionals generalise people from an entire continent who make up nearly 60% of the worlds population, with no nuance.
I have regularly done acute shifts where I have covered the role of 3 doctors for no extra pay or time off in lieu due to staff shortages. what a kick in the teeth.
Health Secretary demands hospitals and GPs ‘improve performance and productivity’.

I didn't think it was possible but I've finally find the most lovely rota co-ordinator who doesn't fight me booking leave, is happy to try and help me work out time off for educational and recreational purposes, and is just an absolute delight to chat to. we love you Gemma!
Operating with an all female team consisting of a Romanian consultant, Indian reg and me (Pakistani) SHO, ethnic minority women in surgery is what we love to see 😍

as much as I've enjoyed my years of being bought coffee by numerous consultants and registrars, it feels great to finally be the person to buy the coffee round for the whole team

as someone who was only inspired to pursue a surgical career during FY1, it's such a shame how many applicants will be put off by these unfair requirements. surgery needs to be more accessible to all doctors, not just those with money and positive surgical role models early on.

I need some help. as an F2 I did some data collection for a paper (on 1200 papers by myself). I've recently found 2 papers the other SHO has published without me as an author. I didn't do any data collection or write up, but she refuses to retrospectively credit me

the close up of this was horrific to watch. police officers bundled on top of him, pushed his neck against the floor and aggressively manhandled him despite complete co-operation. I don't see how anyone can see this as reasonable

@umair_k_
I completely agree
@Ket_Tweetal

such a chaotic weekend at work being the only surgical junior that hasn't called in sick. received a total of 22 locum texts for various sickness absences throughout the hospital today, staffing feels like it is at an all time low. how much more can we take?
